THIS IS CRAZY!! Sorry Dutch people, you are not the tallest in the world. Not even close! You guys will not believe how tall the people are in South Sudan! Like EVERYONE on the streets of Juba (South Sudan's capital) is well over 6 feet tall, and many over 7 feet - even the females! It's one of the most unbelievable features of mankind that I've ever seen anywhere on this planet.

Drew Binsky. Sultan Kösen (born 10 December 1982) is a Turkish farmer who holds the Guinness World Record for tallest living male at 251 centimetres (8 ft 2.82 in). While the Netherlands is renowned for its tall population and unsurprisingly the nation has the tallest average height on Earth. The Dinka, Nuer and Shilluk people of South Sudan are the tallest on earth some as tall as 7 feet 9 inches tall. On 9 July 2011, South Sudan became the 54th independent country in Africa and since 14 July 2011 with over 11 million people, South Sudan is the 193rd member of the United Nations with Juba as the Capital city. The president is Salva Kiir Mayardit.

DID YOU KNOW that the world's tallest people (Dinka tribe of South Sudan) are living directly across the border from the world's shortest people (Pygmy tribe of Central African Republic?)
I find this to be one of the most fascinating things in all of mankind!
I have been lucky enough to visit both groups of people over the last few months, and I wanted to share with you how fascinating it is that they are literally neighbors!
In many situations around the world, whenever you hop over a border, you'll find the culture/traditions/language/people to be quite similar, but in Central Africa, it's a totally different world!
This video proves that Africa is, unquestionably, the most diverse continent on earth, with so many unique stories to tell. I can't wait to go back again soon!

Welcome to South Sudan, specifically the capital city of Juba. Despite its notorious reputation for corruption, the reality here surpasses imagination. The condition of the bituminous Thar Road resembles that of a village road, presenting a challenging environment for videography. However, I managed to navigate this difficulty with the assistance of a Sudan police officer, who understood my passion for capturing the essence of this place.
In Juba, I discovered a unique bond between the people and cows, reminiscent of the sacred relationship originating from India. Surprisingly, South Sudan remains a country largely untapped by tourism, preserving its authenticity and offering a rare glimpse into a lesser-known world.
During my visit, I had the privilege of meeting remarkable individuals - 7-foot tall basketball players. Their dedication to their craft is awe-inspiring, as they devote 11 hours each day to honing their basketball skills. The cultural diversity within South Sudan is remarkable, with a rich tapestry of 54 distinct tribes that contribute to the nation's vibrant identity.
One of the most memorable experiences during my journey was being a small anchor for a pre-fighting match between two different tribes, presenting in my mother tongue. The intensity and energy of the fight were astonishing, leaving an indelible mark on my heart. It was truly a day to remember.

Today in South Eastern Turkey, I met Sultan Kösen -- AKA THE WORLD'S TALLEST MAN!!!
I first heard about Sultan in 2009, when he was awarded a Guinness World Record title for his astounding height of 251 centimeters, or 8 feet 2 inches -- that's almost 3 feet taller than me!
Even though Sultan is a giant on the outside, I realized that he's incredibly gentle, warm, and friendly on the inside. We were all laughing for the 3 hours we spent together.
This was a very special video to make because Sultan invited us into his house, in a tiny village, where his parents (surprisingly) cooked us breakfast after the interview. It was an amazing experience, and quite an emotional morning after hearing about some of the struggles that Sultan has been through in his life (i.e. needing to get multiple surgeries to stop his growth)... But nowadays, he is as happy as can be!

Meeting the World's Shortest Humans (4 Feet Tall)

After 4 years, I went back to visit the PYGMIES - who are genetically the shortest group of people in the world. The last time I met the pygmies, I was alone in the Central African Republic, and this time, I went deep into the Democratic Republic of Congo (4,000 miles away) with Deanna and our local friend, Obed.
The journey was not easy, as we battled flat tires, massive thunderstorms, and my camera nearly getting stolen from someone at a street market in Bukavu (the 3rd biggest city in the DR Congo). But the payoff in the end was pure magic - the pygmies are so welcoming and fun! They literally danced around the fire while beating the drums from the moment we met until we left (15 hours straight).
This is one of those stories and experiences that (when it's all said and done), I will be remembered for. It is a pleasure to share this story with you, that my team and I spent 5 weeks editing, and I hope that you enjoy! And don't forget to subscribe for more stories like this one!

2 years ago, I was in Juba, South Sudan where I met the world's tallest humans. They are part of the Dinka Tribe, who inhabit the banks of the Nile, and the average person is well over 6 feet tall -- many of them are over 7 feet!
It was one of the most spectacular experiences in all of my travels to meet and hang out with these real life giants.
