TAHITI: The stunning capital city of PAPEETE ????, top sites to see!!

City of Papeete, Tahiti, Pacific Ocean - full tour of Papeete - top sites to see, city of Papeete in Tahiti. Let's travel to Tahiti and let's walk around Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, an overseas country of France in the Pacific Ocean. The commune (municipality) of Papeete is located on the island of Tahiti and it is the primary center of Tahitian and French Polynesian public and private governmental, commercial, industrial and financial services, the hub of French Polynesian tourism and a commonly used port of call.
Papeete is the largest city in and capital of French Polynesia on the island of Tahiti. Papeete is a typical government center and industrial port with small doses of French and Polynesian charm. Papeete has shopping, eating, and drinking, but very little sightseeing for a capital city and even fewer top-class hotels. The residents speak French and Tahitian, although English is spoken by many in the tourist trade. The people-watching is superb.
The heart and soul of the South Pacific, Tahiti is the largest in a chain of islands that make up French Polynesia. The name can either refer to the main island or the entire destination. Commonly referred to as The Islands of Tahiti, French Polynesia is a collection of 118 islands and atolls scattered across an impressive nautical surface area the size of Western Europe. Still, these tiny islands—many of which remain uninhabited—make up a total landmass of only 1,600 square miles (4,100 sq. km).

What to do in Papeete, Tahiti on a long layover

Papeete is often a quick stopover for travelers heading to Bora Bora or other islands in French Polynesia, but did you know there's a LOT to do in Tahiti? One pro tip we did learn on this latest trip, though, is not to arrive on a Sunday.

We flew into Papeete on Sunday around 6am and went straight to our downtown hotel to drop off our luggage. The famous Tahiti Pearl Market (Marché) closes at 10am on Sundays so we wanted to get there before it closed. The Market is one of the most fun places to shop in Tahiti thanks to the wide variety of jewelry, pearl qualities and fun local items.

One thing we did not take into account, though, was that no restaurants or other shops are open at all on any Sunday. So after 3 hours of browsing and racing against the clock to buy things before closing, we were starving.

Thankfully, we ended up stumbling upon our new favorite place, 3 Brasseurs, that started serving food at 11am. So with 45 minutes to go, we had a drink and relaxed.

We love Tahiti - even on a Sunday - but if you have the choice, try arriving on any other day haha!

How to See Tahiti on Any Budget | Travel Guide to Tahiti & Bora Bora

#travelaggressive #tahiti #borabora

Ok - little clarification here, Tahiti is just ONE (1) island of more than one-hundred islands that make up French Polynesia... and at least one of those islands is sure to show up on your luxury travel bucket list. But, you definitely don't need to look elsewhere if you aren't on a honeymoon budget. So let's try out Polynesia two ways: ballin' out on Bora Bora (Four Seasons, baby) and budget travel on the Island of Tahiti.

Tahiti: Top three things you need to do!

Welcome to Tahiti! The beautiful main island of Tahiti is full of adventure, shopping and kind people. While many people treat Tahiti like a layover to other islands, we're here to tell you that there is SO much to explore on this beautiful island.

So, we're here to share the top three things to keep in mind when planning your vacation! We're going to share where to stay, what to do and activities that are not to be missed:

00:00 - Intro
00:38 - #1: Visit the Marche Papeete
01:27 - #2: Rent a car
02:23 - #3: Vist inland Tahiti

Tahiti is so full of options when it comes to diverse landscapes and exploring. Our first recommendation is to visit the spectacular Marche Papeete, the island's large pearl, jewelry, floral, everything market. We have found prices to be incredibly reasonable and the experience is so much fun. Tourists can buy discounted pearls, deemed too low of a grade to sell in the fancy shops like Robert Wan and others.

2, you need to rent a car! Going to the big wave or exploring other parts of the island are hard by taxis due to the high price. We recommend renting a car at the airport and exploring the island. It may end up saving you a hefty sum.

Lastly, inland Tahiti is full of waterfalls and stunning hikes. Be sure to get there early before the crowds - and don't expect the paved walkways like you'll find at California national parks. The hiking is very au natural as they say. At the end of our hike, we found an impressive waterfall. There are so many hikes, just minutes from town.

Overall, Tahiti has so much to explore and we always wish we could spend more time on the main island. If you have any questions, let us know below!

See you out there,
Maren Engh & Max Jallifier

TAHITI: The stunning ???? waterfront (promenade) of PAPEETE (Pacific Ocean)

Tahiti, French Polynesia - the beautiful waterfront (seafront, promenade) of Papeete in Tahiti, French Polynesia. Let's walk along the magnificent waterfront (promenade) of the city of Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, an overseas country of France in the Pacific Ocean. Stretching from the Place To'Ata to the Place Vaiete, the waterfront of Papeete is the perfect place for a romantic evening. The waterfront of Papeete has a holiday atmosphere and is always buzzing with activity. The great flavours of caramel popcorn and candies fill the air. Along the waterfront you can also see a park with a wonderful landscape and admire the Moorea Island which is a very scenic view from the promenade. Papeete, Tahiti: Great hotel, and great Jeep tour of the inner island.

Just a quick peek into my favorite place to stay in the city of Papeete, Tahiti, and this great little jeep tour that explored the inner beauty of the island, with waterfalls, tall mountain peeks, and lush valleys.

The Hotel Tahiti Nui is a great place to stay, very centrally located, super modern, safe and quiet. If your looking for something close to downtown and minutes from the cruise lines, you really cant do better.

And if you have an afternoon free you should definitely give Marama Safari tours a call. They'll pick you up right at your hotel (their driver is adorable;) and cart you up to some of the most beautiful locations on the island, that you simply cannot reach without a guide or 4x4 truck. We even got a little impomptu class on how to make a traditional fern crown from our local guide. So sweet.

THINGS TO DO IN TAHITI | TRAVEL GUIDE 2022

THINGS TO DO IN TAHITI
Why Go To Tahiti
Miles of shoreline, dozens of resorts, French cuisine to die for – Tahiti has all the makings of a honeymoon destination. But beach bums often pass over Tahiti's sands in favor of Bora Bora's ivory shores. Despite its idyllic reputation and accessibility, Tahiti is more of an off-the-beaten-path stop than a romantic getaway. However, that doesn't mean Tahiti should be ignored.

Leafy forests sit beside sandy shores, French crêpes are served alongside Tahitian poisson cru (raw fish). If there ever was a place that embodies the beautiful duality of the French Polynesian archipelago, it's Tahiti. Here, the quirky, often chaotic atmosphere of the island's capital, Papeete, rubs elbows with uncorrupted natural beauty. In fact, Tahiti – the largest of French Polynesia's 118 islands – is often referred to as two separate islands despite them being joined by a tiny land bridge. Tahiti Nui is the larger, northern section where Papeete can be found. Tahiti Iti (the smaller half) is less accessible, although many visitors make the trek here for a taste of seclusion. Just note that spending a week on either part of Tahiti will cost you quite a chunk of change. But travelers agree that the warm waters, the lush jungles and the luxurious resorts are worth the splurge.

Tahiti in 4K #24: Waterfalls to work via central Papeete ???????? (29-Mar-2023)

Thought I'd take a different route through Papeete, going via the centre rather than along the boulevard and highway Don't know if it's any more interesting ... traffic is traffic, it's just this is traffic in a Polynesian city.

I start off at the Fa'arūma'i waterfalls and drive anti-clockwise (westward) along the coast and through the centre of Papeete.
