Kalam کالام‎) is a valley located at distance of 99 kilometres (62 mi) from Mingora in the northern upper reaches of Swat valley along the bank of Swat River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The area has become a popular tourist attraction, known for its mountains, forests and lakes. It is the birthplace of Swat river, which forms with confluence of two major tributaries of Gabral river and Ushu river.

Mahodand Lake is one of the largest & scenic lake in the Swat valley, located at a distance of about 40 km from Kalam, in the Usho Sub-valley of Kalam which is laid out in the foothills of Hindu Kush mountains. It is accessible with a four-wheel drive vehicle, and is a good resort for fishing, boating and camping. It is surrounded by snow clad mountains, lush green meadows and thick forests which hypnotise one to its center.

It is a sub-valley of Swat, at an elevation of about 2,000 m (6,600 ft) above sea level, and providing rooms for a small but fertile plateau above the river for farming. From Kalam, the metaled road ends and shingle road leads to the Usho and Utror valleys. From Matiltan, some snow-capped mountains are visible including Mount Falaksar 5,918 meters (19,416 feet), and another unnamed peak 6,096 meters (20,000 feet) high.

Malam Jabba is a Hill Station in the Hindu Kush mountain range nearly 40 km from Saidu Sharif in Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. It is 314 km from Islamabad and 51 km from Saidu Sharif Airport. it also offers great family n children activities like hiking,chairlift,zipline and specially for children here jumping castle swimming pool and wall climbing.

Malam Jabba is home to one of the two ski resorts in Pakistan; the other is at Naltar, Gilgit Baltistan.On the main Madyan-Kalam road, the road turns to the right at Manglor town (12 km from Saidu Sahrif), for the Malam-Jabba Dara which has a series of small villages and settlements like Salanda, Jehanabad, Talegraam, Badar, Ser, Malam, Kishora, Spine Oba, and finally Jabba. Malam is a small village which comes prior to Kishora village on the main Malam-Jabba road. Malam is nearly 17 km from Manglor while Kishora is at 18 km distance. Jabba (12 km from Kishora) is the upper most part of the whole Dara (gorge). The Malam Jabba Ski Resort, owned by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, had a ski slope of about 800m with the highest point of the slope 2804 m (9200 ft) above sea level. Malam Jabba Ski Resort was the joint effort of the Pakistan with its Austrian counterpart. The resort was equipped with modern facilities including roller/ice-skating rinks, chair lifts, skiing platforms, telephones and snow clearing equipment.

There are several hotels in Kalam providing accommodation for tourists to the valley.

Kalam has large number of alpine glacial lakes, among them Mahodand lake and Kundol lake are very popular due to ease of accessibility. But others like Izmis lake, which is located in close proximity with Kundol lake is one of the spectacular one in the region. Most of these lakes are accessible through tedious trekking over lush green trails across the way.

Swat Motorway | Road to Kalam | Travel Pakistan

The expressway stretches from Nowshera to Chakdara in Lower Dir District, passing through Swabi, Mardan, Malakand and Swat districts. The project was inaugurated in August 2016 and partially opened for traffic on 3 June 2019. Upon completion of the expressway, travel time from Nowshera to Chakdara will reduce from three hours to one hour. The Swat expressway was constructed by the Frontier Works Organization at a cost of ₨36 billion (US$220 million). The Asian Development Bank and China provided the principal technical and financial assistance for the project, while Saudi Arabia pledged ₨3.4 billion (US$21 million). Phase two of the expressway will extend another 79 kilometers to the north and terminate at Fatehpur. On 16 July 2020, ECNEC approves land acquisition for Swat Motorway Phase-II at a cost of Rs20bn.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government allocated ₨70 billion (US$420 million) for the extension.

The Swat Expressway should not be confused with the E90 Expressway (Besham–Khwazakhela Expressway) proposed by the National Highway Authority, which also terminates in Swat.

Swat Valley District is a district in the Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Swat Valley Pakistan is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty.
Kalam is a valley located at a distance of 99 kilometers from Mingora in the northern upper reaches of Swat valley along the bank of Swat River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
Usho (also spelled Ushu) is a village in Usho Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
The words Gabin Jabba literally translate to ‘Honey Marshes.’ Accessible from the village of Lalkoo, this place is yet another marvel of nature in its absolute prime. A must-visit for eccentrics, like the honey from Gabin Jabba, is famous all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The sweet taste of nature is a necessity one must oblige to.
Gabin Jaba meadows and trek above it is an amazingly beautiful trek in Lower Swat. Trek starts from Lalkoo village which is at our drive from Matta town. Lalkoo is accessible on a metaled/semi-metaled road so cars can also go there.
Kalam road is still incomplete on some occasions. Due to which tourists face many difficulties especially people with small cars.
I came from Faisalabad in my car and I faced a lot of problems while driving through kalam road.

Kundol Lake lies in the lap of Hindu kush mountains at an elevation of (9,950 ft), in the north of Utror, encompassed by snow-clad mountains and towering trees. Similarly, the trail to the lake from Ladu is easy to follow as a large stream flows down from the lake, which merges with River Swat in Kalam valley.
Jarogo Waterfall also known as Jarogo Banda Waterfall is a waterfall located in Matta Tehsil in Swat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the Province of Pakistan. It is also known as the highest waterfall in Pakistan. It is about 30 kilometers from Matta Tehsil and 53 kilometers from Mingora.
