Seawind 1260 Catamaran Review 2021 & Prize Giveaway | Our Search For The Perfect Catamaran.

The Seawind 1260 was designed by sailors, for sailors. This 41ft Seawind is a bluewater capable catamaran with a very modest price tag. So modest in fact, that if you are saving for an offshore catamaran, this will get you over the line a few years earlier. There is a lot to love about this Australian designed catamaran with a proven track record in offshore cruising.

We also have an Awesome Prize Giveaway this week. Two of the most valuable cruising guides any sailor could ask for are up for grabs: Lin Pardey's Self Sufficient Sailor & Cruising in Seraffyn. To enter, just leave a comment and make sure you're subscribed!

The Rush of FAST CATAMARAN SAILING! | Sailing Ruby Rose

This was, beyond any doubt, our best sail ever on a catamaran. We get a nice strong sailing breeze, put the sails up and off we go! A cracking sail through the Whitsunday Islands. Later, we anchor in the beautiful (but shark infested) Cid Harbour and climb to the highest peak in the Whitsundays.

Restoring & Protecting our Teak the EASY WAY (aka NO VARNISH) (EP 58 Monday Never Sailing)

We have 27 year old teak on our boat Paradox, and it was in need of some serious TLC. We didn't want to varnish it (too time consuming and too much maintenance), and we didn't want to use cetol - we really liked the look of raw teak, just not how much it soaked up water. Then we found a product called Triton made by DiTEC Marine Products. This one seemed like it would be a perfect solution - and so far it has been! And we have a discount code for all DiTEC products if you want to try any out.

THUNDERSTORMS around our BOAT! & Where will we SAIL?

Thunderstorms surround our boat and we show you where we plan to sail!
We go through a night with lots of thunderstorms, heavy winds and rain. The next morning we are curious to assess the damage after the thunderstorms.
Then we show you where we plan to sail, we bought all the flags for the first part of our journey. But where will we sail? And, can you recognise all these countries?

Enjoy episode 22 of the Dutch Sailing Family, Sailing Around the World on our Lagoon 420 Catamaran!

Our boat is a Lagoon 420 sailing catamaran of 2008. One of our first videos was a full boat tour when we considered buying it, have a look if you'd like to know and see all:

I must admit, some of our inspiration comes from Sailing La Vagabonde, Sailing Zatara, Sailing Holly Blue, and World Towning.. although we've been talking about sailing around the world for about 3 years now.. it suddenly is coming a lot closer, and fast!!

Day in the Life of Liveaboard Sailors: Cleaning, Snorkelling, and Sailing!

We started the week by catching up on chores in St. Thomas, a mundane but necessary task. Holly went for a swim/snorkel around the anchorage and saw some beautiful sea life. The arrival of a large cruise ship solidified our decision to head somewhere new, so we pulled up the anchor and sailed to St. Croix! We were welcomed by a storm but look forward to exploring when the weather clears up.

#6 Sailing Seawind singlehanded - with 2 teenagers onboard

Finally time to sail. I mostly handle the boat alone. And have 2 teenagers on board. They have been sailing since they were little. But it would be intrue to claim, they enjoyed this trip. But I know it benefits their life skills.
And I truly appreciate their contributions.

E78 - A HUGE Hammerhead SHARK & Crayfish at the Montebello Islands

Exploring the Montebello Islands we checkout Alpha Island, site of the third and largest nuclear bomb ever detonated in Australia. We climb the short hill to get better phone coverage and fly the drone to get a birds eye perspective over the remarkable island chain, before snorkelling and spearfishing to catch some cray and coral trout. Heading out to the outer reef edge we catch a couple massive crayfish, before we get a visit from a HUGE HAMMERHEAD SHARK.

06:45 Second Big CRAYFISH
11:06 HUGE Hammerhead Shark

WHO ARE WE?
We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022.
We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change.
We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams.
