Riga was the first stop on our filmmaker Agnius Narkevičius` trip to France to shoot virtual city tours. He traveled from Vilnius to Riga by bus and could not find his documents on the way. A stalemate for someone who has to go to another country, isn't it? Panic, understanding that he needed to return to Vilnius, applied to the embassies, and urgently restore the passport filled all 4 hours of the trip to Riga. But in the end, already in the capital, the documents were found in a secret pocket of his backpack. Everything ended well, and our filmmaker went to explore the delightful Baltic city. The Old Town Riga is the oldest part of our capital city, it is a city center, as well as a favorite place for recreation and entertainment for tourists. In 1997, the historical center of Riga was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Old Town has a unique architecture and most of the buildings have the status of cultural monuments. Various styles are represented in architecture - Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque as well as examples of classicism and modernism. After the restoration of Latvia's independence, many buildings in the Old Town were reconstructed or rebuilt, thus restoring the historic heritage.
Two of the most impressive buildings in Old Riga are the Dome Church and St. Peter's Church, where a magnificent panorama of the city of Riga opens up from the observation deck of the 72-meter-high tower.
The streets and squares of Old Riga have countless restaurants, cafes and bars for all tastes.

Riga Central Market is situated in the heart of Riga, a few hundred meters from Old Town on the banks of the River Daugava, next to Riga International Bus Terminal and Central Railway Station. It is not only one of the largest marketplaces in Eastern Europe in area, but also one of the most visited, as 80,000-100,000 people shop there per day on the average.
Architecturally-imposing food pavilions, built in the 1920s, are Riga Central Market’s calling card.
Originally used as military airship hangars, they were later transformed into market venues.
Riga Central Market is unique not only with its pavilions but also with its old warehouses or the so-called spikeri (from German Spéicher), which have now been turned into a hip arts&entertainment quarter.
In 1998, the vast territory of Riga Central Market was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
