Peshawar Street Food - A1 CHARSI TIKKA (Stoner Kebab) BEST PULAO + Street Food in Pakistan!!

Pakistan's BEST Street Food City : PESHAWAR!!

???????? We travelled to Pakistan with MANAKY. Manaky is curated marketplace for travelling in Pakistan, and we highly recommend their services and hospitality for you. Check them out:

WE’RE IN PESHAWAR PAKISTAN! This ancient city is a STREET FOOD paradise, and is known for it’s incredibly friendly people and amazing hospitality! We have returned to the Qissa Khwani Bazaar to EAT Pakistani food!

Just next to the Kabuli Gate, we instantly found our breakfast. This street food stall was serving Peshawari Pulao, which is a dish that originates from Afghanistan. There is rice, beef, chick peas, raisins and a rich broth which are steamed and mixed together to form a delicious blend of pulao. The vendors also added a generous amount of beef bone marrow to our plate. WOW!

Next, we wanted to wash down the amazing pulao with Kahwa Tea, the staple drink of Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. It is a sweet green tea made in these iconic teapots. Cardamom is crushed and added to the teapot and the result is a fragrant and light cup of Kahwa. We also ordered milk tea to try and it was equally sweet and light. We loved the Kahwa so much that we decided to shop around the Qissa Khwani Bazaar to find our own tea leaves and teapot to bring back home with us.

For lunch, we visited the world-famous Nisar Charsi Tikka restaurant, to try the highly recommended Charsi Tikka and Dumba Karahi. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but we were excited. You enter through their butcher section. We were impressed by how clean it was and how carefully the meat is handled and carved. We soon met the owner, Nisar, who explained to us the meaning of the word “Charsi”. Charsi roughly translates to stoner. There was definitely something potent in the air, and many patrons were getting the munchies!

Nisar also proclaimed that his dishes are always A-ONE and the very best in the world. “PAKISTAN ZINDABAD” echoed proudly through his kitchen while we watched the preparation of Peshawari Karahi and Tikka. The karahi is cooked with tender lamb and fatty tail bone, lamb lard, tomatoes, and chili pepper. We also ordered lamb chops they were cooked over smokey coals to perfection. The chefs were proud to only use salt as their seasoning, to focus on and emphasize the natural flavours of the meat. While waiting for our meal to arrive, we were invited to a nearby house to share jaggery and tea with some “babas”. They were very kind and gifted us with a green gemstone. The food was absolutely delicious, the experience was very fun and we loved chatting with Nisar Khan!

Since we were SUPER stuffed from lamb chops and karahi, we decided to do a little more shopping in Peshawar. Just down the street in the Namak Mandi Market, we stopped by Cha Cha Noor Din Kaptaan Chappal to shop for Peshwari chappals. Chappals are traditional sandals from Peshawar, and are handmade from leather. They are known to be very comfortable and stylish. You can have them custom made, or browse the shop’s infinite styles and colours.

If you would like to travel to Pakistan to experience amazing food, hospitality and more, we recommend planning your travels with Manaky!

We would like to thank Manaky for making this food trip to Pakistan possible!

Namak Mandi Peshawar | Nisar Charsi Tikka And Karhai | Pakistani Street Food

The sweet aroma of mutton smoke drifts through a maze of crumbling alleyways, a barbecue tang that for decades has lured meat-eaters from across Pakistan to the frontier city of Peshawar.
The famed Nisar Charsi Tikka — named after its owner´s renowned habit — in Namak Mandi chalks up its decades of success to using very little in the way of spices.

For its barbecue offerings, tikkas — cuts of meat — are generously salted and sandwiched on skewers between cubes of fat for tenderness and taste, and slow-cooked over a wood fire.

Its other famed dish, karahi — or curry stew — is made with slices of mutton pan-cooked in heaped chunks of white fat carved from the sheep´s rump, along with sparing amounts of green chilli and tomatoes.

Both plates are served with stacks of oven-fresh naan and bowls of fresh yogurt.

It is the best food in the entire world, gushes co-owner Nasir Khan, adding that the restaurant sources some of the best meat in the country and serves customers from across Pakistan daily along with local regulars.

By Khan´s calculations, the restaurant goes through hundreds of kilograms of meat a day — or about two dozen sheep — with hundreds if not thousands served.

CHABAHAR, IRAN - Chabahar is located in the very southeastern corner of Iran, along the Gulf of Oman, in the Baluchestan (Balochistan) province of Iran. In this video, we ate a bunch of Balochi street food around Chabahar, and visited some of the unique Martian Mountain landscapes. It was another amazing day in Iran! #Iran #Chabahar #streetfood

Thank you to Salam Chabahar ( and Dor Baluch ( for hosting us and for so much hospitality in Chabahar, Iran.

For this Iranian street food tour of Chabahar, Balochistan, we started in the heart of the city, with a classic breakfast - paratha and a variety of curries. Amazing food, delicious breakfast. We then continued through the main Chabahar Market and on to taste some Chabahar biryani, followed by some of the famous Chabahar bananas.

Martian Mountains - Chabahar, Iran - This is one of the most unique landscapes in Iran, and in the world. The mountains, known as the Martian Mountains, might be as close to Mars as we will ever get. They are truly unique and spectacular especially because of the lack of vegetation so you can see every geographical shape and pattern.

Kebabs - We then continued on to eat kebabs for lunch and fried fish - an amazing meal. The food was to me a mix of Middle Eastern and Persian, all over hot rice smothered in butter and sour orange. An outstanding meal in Chabahar, must eat at when you are there.

Chabahar is a street food paradise at night, because the sun is so hot during the day. You’ll find kebabs galore, and a dish called haleem, a porridge of beans / lentils, and what makes it for me are the toppings of fried shallots, fresh chilies, and lime juice. So amazing I had to have two bowls. We continued eating more street food Chabahar, to wrap up this amazing food day in Chabahar, Iran!

Thank you to Ghasr Setareh ( for arranging our trip to Iran.

PESHAWAR is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, and it’s a must-visit city in the world for food lovers.

Of all the cities I visited in Pakistan, Peshawar was one of the most special, a city of immense history, culture, and some of the most incredible meat dishes of anywhere in the world. People have huge hearts, and a great taste of delicious food. Thank you Waqas and Peshawar for an amazing street food tour!

Halwa puri - We started off this Peshawar street food tour with first breakfast, halwa puri, something that is loved throughout Pakistan. Their version was one of the best, fried in pure desi ghee, and what I loved most was the chana, chickpeas stew.

Nika Seri Pai - Breakfast number two was one of the best dishes I ate in all of Pakistan - Peshawari seri paye, this version made with stewed cows feet. The stew was so rich and incredibly thick - like one of the most rich things you could possibly eat. What I loved so much about Peshawari paye is that it had an incredible garlic flavor. The meat was fall apart tender melting as well.
Price - 500 PKR ($3.73) per bowl

Sir Cunningham Clock Tower - After breakfast we headed to walk around and explore Peshawar, which has some ancient history, and is a fascinating city to explore. Masjid Mahabat Khan is one of the oldest and landmark mosques in Peshawar that’s well worth a visit.

Brains masala - 90 PKR ($0.67) - After having some amazing Peshawari tea, we then continued on to eat brains masala, which he literally whipped up in minutes, and we had a fresh plate of cow brains masala. It was delicious especially with the added chutney.

Pomegranate juice 200 PKR ($1.49) per cup - This is a cup of juice I could hardly even believe. It was the best, freshest, and perfectly sweet and tart cup of pomegranate juice I’ve ever had.

Peshawari pulao - 185 PKR ($1.38) per plate - Next on this Pakistani street food tour of Peshawar, we had Peshawari pulao, which is quite similar to Kabuli pulao. The rice was lightly seasoned, cooked with meat and chickpeas. It was awesome.

Saag and lassi - 50 PKR ($0.37) - Another highlight from this amazing street food tour of Peshawar was the saag and lassi sold by an extremely friendly man right outside the pulao restaurant. The saag was so healthy and fresh, and the lassi was freshly whipped up.

Kaptaan Chappal - One of the best things I brought back with me from Pakistan are Kaptaan Chappals, the locals sandals made in Pakistan. We went to the same shop that Mr. Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, is famous for buying his sandals that he wears almost everyday.

Nisar Khan Charsi Tikka Shish Mahel - Finally, a food trip to Peshawar wouldn’t be complete without eating at Nisar Khan Charsi Tikka, the most famous restaurant in Peshawar for meat, specifically lamb. Everything was incredibly good, and I especially loved the lamb chops.
Total price - 2,600 PKR ($19.38)

An amazing day in Peshawar, it was one of those days where everything is fascinating, everywhere you look and everything you taste.

Street Food in Peshawar!! GIANT PULAO + Pakistan Street Food Tour in Qissa Kwani Bazaar | Pakistan

???????? MANAKY:
???? MANAKY:

After spending a few days in Pakistan’s biggest city, Karachi, I headed inland to explore one of the country’s more mountainous regions. Come with me as I try the legendary street food in Peshawar, including pulao, in Qissa Kwani Bazaar in Pakistan!

Peshawar is a city located in the Valley of Peshawar. It is the oldest city in Pakistan and dates back to at least 539 BCE. It’s also the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and is located just east of the famous Khyber Pass.

???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

I was joined by my guide Rashid from Manaky, who would be showing me around the country for the next 9 days. I couldn’t wait to eat some delicious food! We’d be starting with some incredible pulao with beef, chickpeas, bone marrow, and raisins at a spot whose name translates to Taste of Rice.

Qissa Kwani Bazaar is true sensory overload! In addition to food vendors, you also have clothing and food vendors, brass vendors, pottery makers, house appliances, and tons of activity on the streets. The people there are super welcoming and friendly, too!

The bazaar is also massive. Even though I was exhausted, I was so excited to eat. The pulao looked so good!

The cook takes the bones cooking in the pulao and cracks them open, and then scoops out the marrow and adds it to the rice. Combined with the sweet raisins and nutty chickpeas, it was a match made in heaven!

The raisins and meat gave it tons of flavor. Unlike biryani, pulao isn’t layered and doesn’t contain a ton of spices, but the ingredients they used more than made up for it.

The combination of flavors was incredible. The beef was tender and tasty, but the marrow was the best part! It’s no wonder this is the most famous pulao in the city!

Next, Rashid and I headed back out and tried a creamy fruit chaat just two doors down. It contains dates, raisins, bananas, cashews, almonds, and a sweet syrup. It was full of different flavors and textures and was a great palate cleanser!

Then, we continued on to get some tea at a local teahouse. But then, a friendly vendor invited me to try his fruit chaat, which contains paneer and honey! It was really tasty and sweet. I loved the paneer, almonds, and whipped cream!

Through a tight alleyway and up a set of stairs is a traditional teahouse where you can enjoy your tea and even lay down. I started with the traditional green tea, which was phenomenal!

Then, we headed back out to a vendor selling fresh pomegranate juice. It was super refreshing and healthy!

Peshawar has the feel of a very old city. We passed by vendors selling bean karahi, which was full of spices. Then, we passed some jewelry shops selling gold and silver necklaces and bracelets. After that, I tried some walnuts from a friendly walnut vendor!

Further on are tons of vendors selling gold and silver jewelry! Past the jewelry bazaar, we got some kulfi, which is a dense, icy ice cream. The vendor fills metal cylinders with cream and puts them in his portable freezer.

Then, we stopped by a garment shop, where they offered us some amazing chai! It was scorching hot but delicious. The shop sold some beautiful prayer mats and shawls. We also found some colorful scarves. I loved how vibrant they were! My guide got it for me as a gift!

Next, we tried some brown sugar nuggets at another vendor before trying some dried apricots at a dried fruit shop. Further on were some knife makers and more food vendors selling corn chapatis and more. I was so full!

Best Chapli Kabab of Jalil & Rambel | Peshawar & Taru Jabba | Extreme Pakistani Street Food

Jalil Kabab House and Rambil Kabab are the two main famous places in KPK to eat Chapli Kababs.

Chapli kebab is a minced kebab in Pakistani cuisine and Afghan cuisine originating in Peshawar and surrounding regions as far as eastern Afghanistan. It is usually made from ground beef or mutton with various spices in the shape of a patty. It is also known as the Peshawari kebab.

The ‘Jalil Kabab House’, set up in 1950 in Peshawar’s Firdous Restaurant, is one of the few shops which has maintained its standards since its inception. Even today, about 1,000 people including tourists, politicians, students and celebrities dine there every day, and around the same number of people order home delivery on a daily basis at its main branch.

Rambil Kebab House is located in Tharo Jabba town in the district of Nowshera, about 13km away from Peshawar city. The dilapidated marquee puts a shade over 25 plus charpoys, while the family hall accommodates 18 more.
