Also, big thank you to Elias for showing us around Lima:

Street food in Lima, Peru! #Lima #Peru #PeruvianFood #streetfood

Peruvian food is one of the world’s great cuisines, and I was thrilled to have a chance to visit Peru to learn about and taste the food. In this video, get ready for an ultimate 14-hour straight Peruvian street food tour of Lima!

Here’s everything included in this food tour:

La Parada Market - If you love vegetable markets, I don’t think anywhere else in Lima is as colorful, energetic, and vibrant. This is the beating heart of Lima’s food supply, and I fully enjoyed walking around and seeing the diversity of ingredients from around Peru all in one busy wholesale Market.

Caldo Cesar - Elias navigated us to Caldo Cesar, a restaurant that was incredibly packed and specializes in some of Lima’s best caldo de gallina - chicken hen soup. It was one of the best chicken soups I’ve ever had in my life. Total Price - 52 PEN ($15.71) for 4

Ceviche Cart - One of the national dishes and most beloved dishes of Peru is ceviche (raw fish in lime juice), and we walked over to the section of the market where they sell fish and seasonings for ceviche and had a plate of fresh Peruvian ceviche. It was delicious. Price - 8 PEN ($2.42)

Fruit Tasting - This was pretty unplanned, we just walked around the fruit market and tasted about a dozen types of fruit. My favorite fruits were the Sanky - Fruit produced by a cactus, Camu camu - Native to the Amazon rainforest, and Lucuma - Gold of the Incas.

Papa rellena - This is one of the most common of all Peru street foods, a papa rellena, or a Peruvian stuffed potato. I was impressed - one of the best fried potatoes maybe I’ve ever had in my life.

Tocosh - This fermented potato pulp, was invented by the Incas, and it’s not for the faint of heart. I thought it was unique and pretty delicious, and fun to eat, and it contains natural penicillin.

Papa con huevo - This was ok, but just basic, a potato with egg on top and doused in sauces. This is again, a classic part of Peruvian street food, especially enjoyed by children.

Sanguchería El Chinito - “I practically moved to Peru just for this sandwich.” - Timour Ghoneim. That says it all about this legendary chicharrón Peruvian sandwich located at Plaza de Armas. And he was right, you would move to Lima for this sandwich.

Don Tito Pollos a la Brasa - If you ask Peruvians what is one of their comfort foods, I’m guessing pollo a la brasa would be a common answer. Pollo a la brasa is Pervuian rotisserie chicken, but somehow they just do it better in Peru. Total Price - 84 PEN ($25.39)

Anticuchos Manuela - Without a doubt, this was one of my favorite parts of this entire Peru street food tour of Lima, anticuchos, or grilled cow hearts. They are truly majestic, so juicy and flavorful, you won’t believe it. Price - 10 PEN ($3.02)

Picarones - Finally to end this ultimate street food in Peru tour of Lima, we ordered some picarones, donuts made from sweet potato and pumpkin. They are addictively delicious and should be eaten when you’re in Lima. Price - 6 PEN ($1.81) per box

Epic Seafood in Peru - EXTREME COOKING SKILLS in Chorrillos Fishing Village in Lima!

????Ultimate Peruvian Street Food Tour:
????Timour’s channel:
????T-shirts and caps:

Mark Wiens Banana Chips - Worldwide Shipping Available Now:

Thank you to Alfredo from Alternative Peru ( for taking us on this amazing tour of Chorrillos, Lima, Peru. This video is not sponsored, I paid for this tour, but I thought they did a great job and are doing great tours in and around Lima, and I would highly recommend them. #PeruvianFood #Lima #ceviche

Chorrillos, Lima, Peru - Located within Lima, yet it feels like a totally different city, is Chorrillos, a fishing village. There’s a community of fishermen, a boat harbor, fish and seafood market, and even a man who makes fishing boats by hand for the village. It was fantastic to walk around the village, the fish market, and take a quick boat ride to get started.

We then continued walking through Chorrillos to a Peruvian Creole (Typically of Spanish descent, but mixed with Indigenous and Afro-Peruvian cultures), family who raises roosters and also cooks insanely delicious Peruvian seafood.

Here are the Peruvian food seafood dishes we ate:

Mixed ceviche - Raw fish, squid, scallops
Tiradito - Sashimi cut raw fish, yellow pepper sauce
Ceviche - Peruvian sole ceviche
Sudado - Peruvian fish stew

It was an amazing meal with some of the most complex and delicious ceviche I had during my entire trip to Peru, and some of the best Peruvian food I’ve tried. The view and setting were also fantastic.

Price - I paid $65 USD per person for this tour with Alternative Peru ( that included everything - guide, boat ride, and food. Highly recommended. Thanks Alfredo for an amazing day in Lima!

TRADITIONAL PERUVIAN FOOD - María Zuñiga is a purveyor of traditional, time tested, and slow cooked Peruvian food. It was an honor to have a chance to go to her home-style restaurant, where she serves private Peruvian food experiences. #PeruvianFood #Lima #lomosaltado

Chef Timour was telling me, typically when you have a Peruvian family meal, you have one or two of these main dishes - we had a whopping 7 main dishes in a row - huge Peruvian family style food. The food was incredibly good and I have huge respect for María Zuñiga, her knowledge of Peru and its many ingredients, recipes, and culinary influences. We arrived for lunch, but Maria began cooking at 2 am!

1. Peruvian tamales - María Zuñiga is very well known for her tamales, and she comes from a family that specializes in Peruvian tamales. There were not just any tamales, they were made from different colorful ingredients, and colorful.

2. Arroz con pollo - Chicken with rice, this is a Peruvian food family favorite.

3. Ají de gallina - Another classic traditional Peruvian food, and a dish nearly everyone loves is Ají de gallina, a chicken stew.

4. Lomo saltado - Lomo saltado is a main dish that has direct Chinese influence, and yet it’s so mingled into Peruvian everyday culture. This stir fried beef was insanely juicy and tender.

5. Seco de Res - This is one of my favorite Peruvian food dishes, beef on the bone, stewed with cilantro until fall apart tender. It was incredible.

6. Rocoto relleno - This is a Peruvian dish originally from Arequipa, wonderful rocoto chili peppers, stuffed with meat and spices.

7. Juane - From the Amazon jungles of Peru, juane is a packet of rice and meat cooked in leaves, this time banana leaf. It was delicious especially with the cocona fruit garnish.

Desserts:

Tocosh - Can’t get enough of this amazing fermented potato
Arroz con leche - Rice pudding
Mazamorra morada - Purple corn pudding

It was an outstanding Peruvian food meal and a learning experience for me. These were some of the best home-cooked dishes I’ve had and a meal in Peru that I’ll never forget. Thank you to María Zuñiga!

/// ABOUT US ///
Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Peru. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with Latin America. Since then, we began planning and saving to do an extensive Latin America tour. 2020 delayed those plans by half a year but during this time stuck in BC, we explored a new hobby (like everyone in the pandemic) of videography and photography. We are now using our new skills to document our adventures around South America. Our desire through these videos is to provide helpful and inspiring content for other travelers while also showing people around the world how beautiful and beautiful South America truly is! South American Food - EXOTIC DELICACY in Cusco, Peru! | Peruvian Food Tour!

????Epic Peruvian Seafood in Lima:
????T-shirts and caps:
????Mark Wiens Banana Chips - Worldwide Shipping Available Now:

Eating Guinea Pigs in the Andes Mountains regions of South America is a long and special tradition. They’ve been raised and eaten for thousands of years, and to this day, they remain very popular, and reserved for special meals. The city of Cusco, Peru, and the surrounding areas is one of the best places in Peru to eat guinea pig, known locally as cuy. #Cusco #Peru #PeruvianFood

In this Peruvian cuy tour, we ate three different guinea pigs in a row:

1. San Pedro Market - Right in the heart of Cusco is San Pedro Market, a wonderful Peruvian food market with everything you can imagine. In the morning you’ll find quite a few vendors selling to-go guinea pigs. We had this first, but it wasn’t the best of the day.

2. Tipón, Peru - For our guinea pig number two we drove to Tipón, a town that claims to be a “National Capital of Delicious Baked Guinea Pig.” We headed straight for Cuyeria Monica, where she baked a fresh cuy, bubbled the skin, and served us the full cuy Peruvian food plates. Fresh out of the oven, with the crispy skin, it was incredibly delicious. 35 PEN ($10.61) - Price per cuy

3. Cuyeria Sol Moqueguano - Back to the center of Cusco, we tried a famous restaurant for cuy, Cuyeria Sol Moqueguano, where they have both baked and deep fried. This was an incredible meal, the deep fried version was sensational. The entire plate, including the sausage and rocoto relleno, was outstanding. 42 PEN ($12.73) - Per per cuy

It was a fantastic Peruvian food day in Cusco, and a learning experience.

King of Ceviche - HUGE FLOUNDER Peruvian Food at Chez Wong in Lima, Peru!

????Ultimate Peruvian Street Food Tour:
????Timour’s channel:
????T-shirts and caps:

Mark Wiens Banana Chips - Available Now:

CHEZ WONG - Known for his ceviche, and cooking stir fry with a massive, borderline dangerously huge flame, Chef Javier Wong is a legend of Peruvian food, especially Peruvian Chinese food. I first saw Chez Wong when Anthony Bourdain went there, and I knew it was a place I eventually wanted to go when I visited Peru. Today was that day! #Peru #Lima #PeruvianFood #ceviche

1. Open hours: 1 pm - 3:30 pm (this is ceviche time in Peru)
2. Reservations are a must, no walk-ins

Part of the reason to eat at Chez Wong when you’re in Lima is to experience the show of him cooking - he’s truly gifted and skilled at cooking and at performing. The highlight is him bringing a huge Peruvian sole (flounder, known as Lenguado in Spanish) out from the kitchen to prepare lunch for all the guests. You don’t know what you’ll get on his menu, and I think he used to make more dishes, but he’s making fewer dishes now. But you get whatever he makes for that day.

Ceviche - You’re guaranteed to have a taste of Chez Wong’s legendary ceviche. What impressed me was its simplicity, fresh fish, lime juice, salt, and pepper, onions, and that’s it - but with some chilies on the side. The Leche de Tigre, or ceviche juice, is out of this world. I wouldn’t say it’s the best Peruvian ceviche you’ll eat in Lima, but it was one of the freshest and definitely the cleanest tasting ceviche I had during my trip. The fish was outstanding. I was hoping for tiradito as well, but I think he doesn’t make it anymore.

Stir Fry - After ceviche, Chef Javier Wong sliced up more of the fish and added some ingredients like bok choy and mandarin to a metal mixing bowl. Then he went to the back to stir fry. His stir frying skills are next level master, genius. He cranks the fire so high, the flame reaches the ceiling before he even adds the food. The stir fry goes up in a flame of glory, infusing all the ingredients with the glorious breath of the wok. It’s truly beautiful to see him so calm with the fire. The stir fry was incredibly tasty, perfectly seasoned and balanced. And again, that fish was the highlight.

Total price - 545 PEN ($164.38), for 4 adults.

It’s not a cheap meal, but the fish is next level, it’s a once in a lifetime meal, and Chef Javier Wong truly is a special amazing man.

CUSCO, PERU - This was a fully unplanned street food tour of Cusco, Peru, we just set off in the morning and decided to eat what we could find, visit some markets, and just enjoy the really local food of Cusco, Peru. It turned out to be an amazing day, full of surprises, friendly people, and delicious Andes food! #Cusco #Peru #PeruvianFood

Quinoa - This is a very popular breakfast in Cusco, which is a seed of a flower, rich in nutrients, and native to the Andean region. It’s made into a drinkable porridge with fruit. We also tried Maca, a Peruvian ginseng, used as traditional medicine in the Andes. Price - 1 PEN ($0.30) per cup

Mercado de Wanchaq - We then headed over to the market, bought some Rocoto chilies (Scoville scale: 50,000 – 250,000 SHU), and headed to the food court section. I was interested in trying an Andean dish call Chairo - Freeze dried potato stew. Price - 3 PEN ($0.91) per bowl

Kapchi de habas - Somewhere on a street corner in Cusco, we then tried a dish of fava beans with potato and cauliflower, I think a bit of cheese in there too. With a sprinkle of tomatoes and rocoto chili, it was delicious. 4 PEN ($1.22) Price per bowl

Peruvian pork adobo - Pork stewed in chicha (corn beer) - But nothing in the day compared to the ultimate dish - Peruvian adobo stew, with an entire pork chop stewed in local corn beer with rocoto chilies. It’s delicious, and very very porky. 11 PEN ($3.34) - Price per bowl

San Pedro Market - Next we headed over to San Pedro Market, which is one of the most famous and well known markets in Cusco, Peru. The food court is astounding, and there’s so much to choose from.

Tarwi - Species of Andean Lupin. If not prepared correctly, it’s poisonous from bitter alkaloids. 5 PEN ($1.52) - Price per plate

Trucha Frita - Fried trout plate. 5 PEN ($1.52) - Price per plate

Avocado and Mango - Perfect fruit shake. 6 PEN ($1.82) - Price per shake

Peruvian Chicharron - Finally to end this Peruvian street food tour of Cusco, Peru, we couldn’t miss chicharron, Peruvian style fried pork served with fried potatoes. It was all you could ever want in fried pork, oily and delicious. 10 PEN ($3.04) - Price per plate

ONE DAY IN LIMA TRAVEL GUIDE (PERUVIAN FOOD, MIRAFLORES, KENNEDY PARK) // PERU TRAVEL VLOG

Wondering what to do with one day in Lima, Peru? In this Lima travel guide we show you our 7 favourite things to do in Lima, Peru! This video is the first of our Peru travel vlogs and we jam packed it with the best way to see Peru's vibrant capital city for anyone who is short on time. If you happen to have a second free day in Lima, you could also do these 7 things over two days and just spend a bit more time eating delicious food in between each stop! Peru is famous for its incredible cuisine, and Lima is considered the food capital of South America, so there is no shortage of AMAZING food to try. We made sure to find ourselves Peruvian ceviche and the famous lomo saltado at mercado 28 and were NOT disappointed by our first taste of Peruvian food!

For your visit to Lima, we highly suggest you start your day at Miraflores (many visitors rent accommodation in Miraflores for easy access and safety) which is home to Kennedy Park and Parque del Amor. Give yourself lots of time to pet the dozens of cats at Kennedy Park if you are someone who enjoys a furry cuddle! After taking in the epic coastal views at Parque del Amor, walk or cycle along the coast to Mercado 28 for an incredible ceviche or lomo saltado lunch (or a dozen other options!). Then its a quick jaunt over to Baranco to watch the street performers and hold your breath as you cross the Bridge of Sighs. You can then make your way to Plaza de Armas to wander the streets and take in the beautiful architecture (if you have the time, we recommend joining a free walking tour around Plaza de Armas to learn more about the history of Lima). Finally, once it gets dark, head over to Parque de la Reserva to take in the fountain light show! This show was not at all what we expected, but it was awesome and is a great way to end a full day of sightseeing!

8,000 YEAR-OLD BARBECUE STYLE - Ancient Inca Food in Peru!

Huge thank you to Janet from Pasitos Andinos Experience ( for arranging this amazing Pachamanca. #Peru #PeruvianFood #pachamanca

Pachamanca is an underground hot stone oven style of cooking from the Andes mountain regions of South America. There is evidence that humans in the region have been cooking pachamanca for over 8,000 years, and it was a common way Inca’s prepared food as well! It was a huge honor to have this opportunity to have a traditional, no shortcuts, pachamanca when I was visiting Cusco, Peru.

From Cusco, Peru, it was about an hour drive. We met with Julio, the leader of the small Quechua community, and he brought us to the village, high in the mountains, and an incredibly beautiful place. We were immediately met by the amazing community, beautiful people, who welcomed us in and showed us their immense hospitality.

The first step in prepared in a pachamanca is heating hot stones, but they have to set up the stones in an absolutely genius stone structure in order to build a fire and heat the rocks. They showed us the entire process as I watched in awe. The rocks must be heated for 4 - 5 hours before they are ready to cook.

When the pachamanca was heated and ready, they first tossed on the variety of potatoes, then the meat (including alpaca) which was marinated in spices and wakatay (Peruvian black mint), then layers of rocks, fava beans, and then covered the entire pachamanca with an herb to seal it in. Finally they covered it with earth to seal in all the smoke and steam. It was astounding and beautiful to see them as they prepared the entire pachamanca, an ancient Peruvian cooking tradition.

Moraya - Ancient Inca technique of freeze drying potatoes - In addition to the pachamanca, they also made a soup made with moraya, an Inca technique of free drying potatoes to preserve them. The soup was delicious, and so warming.

The pachamanca was absolutely delicious, all the ingredients sort of steamed and roasted at the same time. Some of the ingredients were charred from the hot stones, which added to the incredible flavor. And along with the delicious food, the experience of being able to watch them load and unload the pachamanca, was something I’ll never forget.

Again, thank you to Pasitos Andinos:

Street Food CEVICHE at the Fishermen Market in Chorrillos, Peru #shorts

We went in search of ceviche at the Fishermen's Market in Chorrillos, Peru. We found these 'leche de tigre' cups to go. The name literally means tiger's milk and it refers to the citrusy juice the fish is cured in. The leche de tigre cups had bits of fish, breaded squid, plantain chips, red onions, toasted corn. It's basically street food ceviche to go and it was delicious! Full video of our ceviche food tour coming soon!
