KELANTAN, MALAYSIA - If you’re looking for amazing Malaysian food, Kelantan is a state that’s unique, cultural, and has some of the best food in Malaysia.

During trips to Kuala Lumpur over the years, I had tried a number of Kelantanese dishes, but that only increased my desire to eventually visit the source, to visit Kelantan, Malaysia. Finally, this was our chance, and we went on a Malaysian food tour of Kelantan, around Kota Bharu.

Here’s all the amazing food we ate in this video:

Nasi Kerabu Panji - Without a doubt, one of the Malaysian foods you don’t want to miss when you visit Kelantan is nasi kerabu, rice salad, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a breakfast dish and we first started at Nasi Kerabu Panji, a local favorite spot. You get blue rice, topped with salad and side dishes, drizzled in budu fermented fish sauce, and topped with you choice of main mean. It was extraordinary.
Price - About 8 MYR ($1.96) per plate

Jijah's Nasi Kerabu - Since nasi kerabu is one of the top Malaysian foods of the state of Kelantan, we decided to have two nasi kerabu’s back to back, but totally different styles and even different colors of rice. Jijah's Nasi Kerabu specializes in grilled goat, and it was incredible, highly recommended when you visit Kelantan, Malaysia.
Price - 4.50 MYR ($1.10) per plate

Siti Khadijah Market - One of the top attractions in Kota Bharu is Siti Khadijah Market, a beautiful colorful market where you can buy all the ingredients from Kelantan and there’s also an amazing cooked food section. Laksam - 3.50 MYR ($0.86) per bowl - I had a bowl of laksam, a Kelantan Malaysian food version of laksa. Akok - 1 MYR ($0.24) for 2 - Later we also tried akok, a popular and local Kelantanese dessert.

D'Umi Nasi Ulam - Another Malaysian food you don’t want to miss eating in Kelantan is nasi ulam, rice with raw vegetables, and a mix of dishes, all eaten specifically with budu - fermented anchovy sauce. This restaurant was amazing, a huge mix of dishes, friendly owner, and delicious food. Of course, we couldn’t resist the tempoyak - fermented durian paste.

Kak Jah Ayam Percik Bulatan Lemal - Finally to end this Malaysian street food tour of Kelantan, we had some ayam percik, a coconut milk barbecue sauce dish that originates in Kelantan. We barely arrived in time, but luckily got the last few skewers.
Ayam percik - 16 MYR ($3.93) per big skewer

Kelantan is an amazing state in Malaysia to eat Malaysian street food and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, the incredible food, and friendly people.

Delicious MALAY FOOD in Kelantan- traditional Kelantanese food | Food and Travel Channel | Malaysia

Subscribe for more food and travel videos:
When in Kelantan you must eat traditional Kelantanese food which includes some of the most delicious Malay food EVER! We're in Kelantan, a state situated on the east coast of peninsular Malaysia with our friends Amry and Aida. We're there to celebrate Hari Raya Haji with their family ( but also take the time to hunt down some delicious local food!

First up are nasi kerabu, nasi dagang and nasi berlauk. These dishes are commonly eaten for breakfast in Malaysia.

Nasi kerabu is made up of fresh, raw salads, kerepok (fish crackers), salted egg, blue coloured rice (traditionally coloured with the petals of the butterfly pea flower), fried coconut and sambal (chilli). This nasi kerabu also features budu a fermented fish condiment which originates from Kelantan. We also have some ayam goreng or fried chicken on the side.

Nasi dagang is made up of sticky rice and white rice, cooked vegetables, boiled egg, fried coconut and fish gulai. The fish is commonly a tuna type fish and gulai is the style in which it is cooked- a coconut milk gravy which includes turmeric and other aromatics.

Nasi berlauk is made up of white rice, a gulai dish, cucumber and sambal.

All three dishes are amazing and definitely worth eating!

We also sample pulut pagi a mound of sticky rice either sweet or savoury, topped with freshly grated coconut. The savoury pulut pagi includes a dried, salted fish. Pulut pagi was commonly eaten during times of flood when there was no fresh rice available. Our final treat is akok, a Kelantanese kuih made from eggs, wheat flour and pandan. Kuih are eaten as snacks or desserts and the akok would go perfectly with a cup of teh or kopi. They're quite eggy and very light. Delicious!

On the way home we grab some roadside snacks- etok which are a river clam cooked with salt and lemongrass and bahulu- a type of sponge cake.

What a day of eating Kelantanese foods! We have fallen in love with Kelantanese cuisine and can't wait to return to Kelantan to try more!

A huge thank you to Amry and Aida for being such epic hosts and for showing us around Kelantan. You two are THE BEST!!

We are in Malaysia until the end of 2017 and would love any food recommendations. Please let us know your favourite places to eat in the comments below. And if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up, share it and subscribe to our channel. Thanks so much for your support.

Street Food in Malaysia - ULTIMATE MALAYSIAN FOOD in Kuala Lumpur!

Thanks to Oh My Media:
Subscribe for 2 new videos every week
T-shirts and caps:

Huge thank you to Fadhlur for reaching out and taking us on a Malaysian street food tour of Kuala Lumpur. It was an amazing day, and I have so much love to Malaysia as it was one of the first countries where I started making street food videos - as you’ll see in the video!

Ok, here are all the street food stalls and restaurants we ate at on this tour:

Mansion Tea Stall
The thing to order here is the roti canai special, roti that chopped up, then doused in a variety of curry sauces, sambal, and a few soft boiled eggs. It’s a perfect way to begin your day in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 2.80 RM ($0.68) per plate

Nasi Lemak Tanglin
Nasi lemak is often considered the national food of Malaysia, and there are plenty of places to eat it throughout Kuala Lumpur. Having been around since 1948, Nasi Lemak Tanglin is a place I had wanted to go for a while. It was overall very good, with a nice laid back atmosphere and surrounded by nature. Nasi lemak - about 8 RM ($1.94) per plate

Ikan Bakar Seri Melaka (Jalan Bellamy)
One of my favorite places to eat ikan bakar, grilled fish, is on Jalan Bellamy. Back in 2012, I had to hike over a highway and climb a few fences to get there as I was only on foot. In this video, I’m a bit older, and we had a car! The ikan bakar was just as good as I remember it. Total price - 68 RM ($16.51) for everything

Sri Ganapathi Mess
One of the best things about Malaysian food is its incredible diversity, including Malay, Chinese, and Indian food. Banana leaf south Indian food is very popular and I was recommended to try Sri Ganapathi Mess, a restaurant tucked away into a home. An amazing south Indian food experience in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 59 RM ($14.32) for 4 people

Kedai Kopi Lai Foong
Finally, another dish that many had recommended me was the unique clam noodles in Kuala Lumpur Chinatown at the legendary Kedai Kopi Lai Foong. It was delicious, and a perfect way to end an amazing Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 10 RM ($2.43) per bowl

Again, thank you to Oh My Media Malaysia for taking us around:

Malaysian Street Food - GENIUS MALAY FOOD in Terengganu, Malaysia!

Watch more Malaysian food videos:
Huge thanks to Pett ( Go eat at Rahsia Kitchen when you’re in Kuala Terengganu!

T-shirts and caps:

TERENGGANU, MALAYSIA - I was really excited to visit the East Coast of main peninsular Malaysia, known especially for Malay food. From the moment I arrived and started eating fermented durian, fermented fish sauce, and tons of different curries, I knew it was amazing place.

We met up with Pet, head chef of Rahsia Kitchen - by the way they serve excellent Western food in Kuala Terengganu - and he took us around for the day to eat some of the best local Malay food in Terengganu.

Nasi Dagang Atas Tol - When Malaysian think of Malay food in Terengganu, the number one dish they would think of, that’s associated with the state is nasi dagang. Nasi dagang is rice cooked with coconut milk and fenugreek, then served with a tuna curry. It’s an amazing dish and something you don’t want to miss. Nasi Dagang Atas Tol is also known for their bubble bath milk tea, which has suds like I’ve never seen.
Price - about 3.50 MYR ($0.96) per plate

Local market and Genius Malay food - At the market we met up with Naqwit Mohammed who is a local artist and musician. He connected with Pett and I on social media, and met up with us to show us around the market since he’s from that village. The market was incredible, packed full of delicious Malaysian food, and with an incredibly friendly feel. The namu namu fruit was unique and delicious, and a first for me, and I also was fascinated by the fish mixed with coconut, then re-filled back into fish shape - this was a genius food for me. Perfect place to walk around and sample Malay foods.

Singgang Budu Restaurant - For lunch we drove into Kuala Terengganu, the main city and had lunch at Singgang Budu Restaurant, know for nasi campur (mix of different dishes), eaten along with budu sauce (fermented anchovy sauce) and tempoyak (fermented durian). Great meal.

Warung Pok Nong - Finally, another unique and very locally popular restaurant in Terengganu is Warung Pok Nong, known for their extreme deep fried seafood, and located along the ocean. It’s an amazing place, where you can snack on some incredibly crunchy seafood.

It was amazing day of food and fun in Terengganu. It’s an amazing state in Malaysia to learn about authentic Malay culture and food.

Warung Ambo | KELANTANESE FOOD | NASI KERABU + LAKSAM | Best food Shah Alam

We've been craving for Kelantanese Food lately and one of the spots that kept popping up is Restoran Warung Ambo. This place is popular among locals and it gets really crowded during lunchtime. There's even a queue that stretches outside of the restaurant. Their menu is huge and we chose to go with Nasi Kerabu Daging Bakar and Laksam. Also, check out their signature Teh Mabu Ambo; it looks out of the world and the definitely very satisfying.

Street Food in Malaysia! Kelantan Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Nasi Lemak! BEST Malaysian Food in JOHOR

Gerai Kak Yah is a nice neighborhood warung in Johor Bahru that serves Nasi Kerabu, a traditional Kelantanese dish that has so many components. It's something I never had before in Malaysia or Singapore so I ordered it along with other local Malaysian dishes. We ate the following:

Nasi Kerabu
Nasi Dagang
Nasi Lemak
Teh Tarik Panas
Teh Tarik Ice

*We were blessed by the owners and didn't allow us to pay for all the food we ate
*Terima Kasih, Kak & Abang!

NASI KERABU Changed My Life In Malaysia ????????

We tried Nasi Kerabu for the first time in Malaysia and it changed our lives.

Today we ate Nasi Kerabu for the very first time in Kuala Terengganu. I was going to wait until we reached Kelantan but couldn't help myself.

We went to Fauzi Nasi Kerabu early in the morning as it gets super busy as the day goes on.

We ordered a giant Nasi Kerabu each with all the toppings and 2 huge foamy glasses of tea aswell - one red tea and one green tea.

I had grilled beef and chicken, Alicia had fried chicken plus we had all the extras like a whole garlic bulb, some beautiful solok Lada etc etc.

Honestly we have fallen in love with Nasi Kerabu this Malay food has to be one of the world's best ????????
