Queen of WEST AFRICAN FOOD!! + Mysterious Stilt Dances!! | Côte d’Ivoire ????????

???????? Spicy Palm Nut Soup in Côte d’Ivoire:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

Guiglo, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) - After making our way along the Atlantic coast of Côte d’Ivoire, we’re continuing our Ivorian food tour to the north, stopping first for an extraordinary meal in Guiglo, before we continue all the way to Northern Ivory Coast, eating as much local food as we can along the way.

In Guiglo, Côte d’Ivoire we met with the Guéré tribe and Madam cooked us an absolutely incredible meat called Sauce Bawin (cassava leaves sauce) and Sauce Kplé Ba (sticky sauce) - a meal fit for West African royalty! It was impressive and the flavors were unbelievable.

We continued our journey to Touba and to an extremely remote village called Gboola. In Gboola we saw one of the most mysterious and fascinating dances I’ve ever scene, the Ivorian stilt dances. We then had lunch with the community.

Finally to complete this cay we drove to Odienne, in the very northern part of Côte d’Ivoire. There we had some Gnomi (griddle cakes) and a huge meal of Sumbala La-fri - Rice made with eggplant and locust beans.

It was another incredible day of local West African food in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)!

A huge thank you to my friend Mo Soumahoro from Belle Côte d’Ivoire ( for arranging my trip and setting up everything.

Spiciest Food in Africa!! ???? PALM NUT SOUP in a Village in Ivory Coast!!

???????? Street Food in Côte d’Ivoire:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

Grand-Béréby, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) - Today we’re still on the coast of West Africa in Côte d’Ivoire where we’re going to see the entire process, cooking and eating, one of the best West African foods; palm nut soup.

Palm Nut Soup (known locally as Sauce Graine) is one of the great West African foods, but there are many ways to make it. In Grand-Béréby we met up with Léon who is part of the Krumen tribe. In this coastal area they make palm nut soup with the nuts of the African oil palm, and the heart of the same palm tree. The first step was to harvest all the ingredients, and it was also a huge education on where the ingredients came from and the work it takes to harvest them.

The palm nut soup was made with the boiled palm nuts, pounded into an soup and oil, and then boiled with a huge variety of local seafood, and the fresh heart of palm chopped into small pieces. They also added in tons of fresh chiles and a huge amount of dried chilies to make it extremely spicy.

Before eating we were greeted by a representative of the Chief of the village to customarily greeted us with a kola nut, chili, and a drink of local distilled sugarcane.

The palm nut soup was one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in West Africa, truly a complex magical flavor and combination of ingredients. It was a once in a lifetime food experience. And truly the amount of work it took to prepare made me even appreciate it more.

Thank you to Leon and his family for hosting us and preparing Ivorian style palm nut soup!

A huge thank you to my friend Mo Soumahoro from Belle Côte d’Ivoire ( for arranging my trip and setting up everything.

Mutton BBQ on the Street!! AFRICAN STREET FOOD - Choukouya in Côte d'Ivoire!!

???????? Remote Village Food in Ivory Coast:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

Korhogo, Côte d'Ivoire - From the very northwestern corner of Côte d'Ivoire, we’re continuing our journey through the country in Korhogo, known for its unique food and especially high quality meat. Today we’ve been invited to a local home to cook some of the local Senufo tribe food and eat some of the best grilled mutton you’ll ever have.

Senufo tribe - Mo and I headed to a local home to cook a few different dishes including Joro, which is a unique green sauce made from pounded peanuts and bean vine leaves. It was definitely green tasting and quite a healthy dish. We also had another few dishes including bambara groundnuts which were some of the best beans I’ve ever had.

Choukouya - One of the greatest of all West African street foods is grilled meat and I’m talking about choukouya, this one made with grilled mutton. Korhogo, Côte d'Ivoire is known throughout the country for raising some of the best quality and tasting meat, and I can assure you of this. They had a huge logfire going and they were roasting fresh mutton over the fire. When you order, they slice all the meat off the bone, and serve it with onions, fresh chilies, and kankankan seasoning.

Boloye Dance of the Panther - Finally we went to see one of the original Black Panther dances. It was one of the most fascinating displays of acrobatics, and chanting songs I’ve ever heard!

Another absolutely incredible day in Côte d'Ivoire! A huge thank you to my friend Mo Soumahoro from Belle Côte d’Ivoire ( for arranging my trip and setting up everything.

BURKINA FASO ???????? Best Places in 2024!

Travel to Burkina Faso, and the best places to visit in an off the beaten path West African country that has safari (Nazinga, Tengrela), waterfalls (Karfiguela), wildlife (elephants, hippos), cultural festivals like FESTIMA, incredible music and dance (in Bobo Dialasso especially), nature parks (Domes of Fabredougou, Sindou Peaks), UNESCO ruins (Loropeni), exquisite culture (Grand Mosque) and unique architecture (tiebele). Don't be scared by the media - yes there is terrorist activity, but it's confined to specific parts. My Top 11 things to do in Burkina Faso are mainly away from the danger areas. Whole Goat Stew in Africa!! VILLAGE FOOD in Senegal - Best Senegalese Food!!

???????? Senegal Street Food in Dakar:
???? Subscribe:

SENEGAL, WEST AFRICA - Today we are in a small village to meet Musa and his family for their Eid al-Adha celebration. They are preparing a whole goat that will be fried to go with rice, and stewed to go with Senegalese style couscous. It’s an honor to be here and I can’t wait to share all of the delicious food with you!

Welcome to a small village, not too far away from Joal Fadiout in central Senegal, West Africa. Musa and his family kindly invited us to their home for an amazing Eid al-Adha celebration. First we began with a unique breakfast porridge that was made from millet flour, kneaded into small pellets and sprinkled into hot water. The result was a delicious porridge that you eat with homemade sweet yogurt.

For lunch, the family prepared two Senegalese foods, a platter of rice with fried goat, and a platter of millet couscous with tomato goat stew. For both dishes many of the same ingredients were used - tons of onions and garlic, green onions, chilies, black pepper, tomatoes. Seasonings and ingredients were pounded into a paste and the fresh goat was marinated. The rice was cooked in the oil and broth of the goat. For the couscous it was quite a unique process, steaming, then mixing with baobab sap and baobab leaves, then steaming again. The result was an almost fluffy sandy texture. The couscous with the fresh goat meat tomato stew was a highlight. So good, and cooked with so much love!

It was an amazing day of village cooking Senegalese food in rural Senegal! The food and hospitality was unforgettable.

Thank you to Pape Tatandiaye (Visit Senegal

ANGRY COP in BURKINA FASO | Motorcycle World Tour | Africa #31

I set out to leave Ivory Coast to enter Burkina Faso, known during colonization as Alto Volta. There has been an attack on the French embassy and because of my beard the police search every inch of my bags. The Carnet de Passages is totally unknown on the border I want to enter... Bureaucracy is not my favorite activity and neither, it seems, is it that of the customs agents around here...

I SLEEP on the STREET in Burkina Faso | Motorcycle World Tour | Africa #33

I am not passionate about cities, but because of visas I have to stop in many of them... Usually there are no great adventures. But it's interesting to see other things during the trip. In this case I am trying to get a visa for Nigeria. I have already been warned that it is one of the most difficult to obtain... Finally, night in the city surprised me... with the bike disassembled and little chance of getting out of there... The adventure continues...

Nyama Choma: Tanzanian Roasted Goat - African Street Food!

Nyama choma, roasted meat, is one of the most beloved things to eat in East Africa. Read more deliciousness here:

Every Time I arrive back to East Africa, which is usually Kenya or Tanzania, it doesn't take long for me to get the craving for some proper nyama choma. Nyama choma means roasted meat, and you can usually order beef, chicken, or the most common meat: goat (also known as mbuzi choma Kiswahili). Though I ate plenty of nyama choma in Kenya during my growing up years, this video, and my most recent article and experiences are from Tanzania, in the Dar Es Salaam area.

On one lazy Sunday afternoon, we decided to hit-up one of the truly local style nyama choma joints in the outskirts of town. This restaurant is actually not really a restaurant at all, but it's literally just someone's home who opens up their yard as a communal meat devouring and relaxing place. Every Sunday, they decide to hold goat roasts, or nyama choma feasts. There's a pen with live goats in the yard, and when there are enough customers, they slaughter one of the goats, and hang the fresh meat in the butchery. When customer begin to arrive, they select the chunks of meat that they wish to partake of, and the butcher will then slice it right off the goat carcass and throw it onto the grill. Eating nyama choma is a culture of its own. Most of the customers are men, and they go to a nyama choma restaurant with their friends to relax, normally drink plenty of beer, and chow down on free range and freshly cooked meat.

So I arrived on Sunday afternoon, my mouth already watering to get a taste of that roasted goat, the smoke pouring over the entire yard in meaty goodness. We chose a 1 kilo section of meat off the goat leg and the butcher chopped it ferociously with his machete and threw it on the grill with nothing more than a handful of salt and MSG. Don't expect your nyama choma, or any other food you order in East Africa, to come quickly. Eating nyama choma is more of a leisure experience; You sit around and wait for 1 or 2 hours until the meat is finished cooking. Our meat took about 1.5 hours or so, until it was done through and through.

When your nyama choma is finished cooking, the butcher then grabs his big knife, places your hunk of meat on a chopping board, and slices through the goat meat like it's butter. He cuts it all up into bite sized pieces, puts it on a plate, and it's served with little more than a pile of salt on the side of the plate, some chili peppers, and lemon wedges on the side. Nyama choma is one of the great East African dining experiences. The goat meat is definitely on the chewy side, but you can just taste that incredible natural and free range flavor from the meat. I'm a huge fan of East African nyama choma!
