The BEST Hike in St. Lucia | Climbing the Petit Piton | Epic Hike
The best hike in St. Lucia is not an easy hike! The Petit Piton trail is located on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. It is a very challenging trail and we consider it an epic hike with an amazing view of Sugar Beach and the Gros Piton.
The Petit Piton hike is one of our most memorable travel experiences to date. The hike itself is very challenging, but the view from the top of the Piton is incredible. In order to reach the top, one must complete a lengthy rock scramble and climb a series of ropes over boulders.
In this video we include footage from all four quarters of the hike. We talk about the hike, along with how we prepared for it. Topics include: booking a guide for the trail, what we wore for the hike and what other items we brought along.

Deighton was responsive and answered all of our questions through the booking process. Our guide Shanus, the Mountain Fox, did an wonderful job ensuring we made it to the top and allowing us to enjoy our time at the top when we made it. Overall, St. Lucia Tours and the Petit Piton hike exceeded our expectations. We would do it all over again.
If you are not quite as adventurous as we are, the company offers additional tours, including hiking the Gros Piton and going on an island tour.
When researching this hike it helped to watch footage from others who hiked, along with reading reviews to prepare. If you are trying to decide if this hike is for you we hope our footage helps you to make that decision. If the Petit Hike is too intense for what you are looking for, hiking the Gros Piton may be a good option for you.
If you have already decided you want to do the Petit Piton hike, we hope this video helps you to prepare for the hike, and maybe gets you even more excited for it.
It took us about an hour and a half to hike up to the top, including some breaks for water and video footage. We spent about a half hour on the peak, and the hike back down took a little over an hour. We did try to keep moving at a good pace since we were only visiting on a cruise ship and our time was limited. If we were staying on the island we would have taken our time. From reading other reviews, it seems the hike typically takes between 3 and 5 hours depending on your pace.

Saint Lucia is the ultimate honeymoon destination. It has the most beautiful nature and is the absolute highlight in the middle of the Caribbean. There is also plenty to do for backpackers and traveling families. In this video I show you why every traveler should visit Saint Lucia at least once: it's just a place that can hardly be beat!
After Saint Lucia we visit many more gems in the Caribbean. Whether they will match with Saint Lucia remains to be seen! With the best views of the gigantic pitons, overnight stays in tree houses in the middle of the jungle and the most beautiful snow-white beaches, Saint Lucia is high on the list of the most beautiful islands in the world. We sleep in Soufrière, visit the Diamond Waterfalls, hike the Tet Paul Nature Trail and visit the beaches Anse Chastanet, Sugar Beach and Jalousie Plantation Beach. From the west, we drive our small jeep through the rainforest to the south and east, before relaxing at an all-inclusive resort in the north.
This year we travel all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman, Cape Verde and Martinique, Saint Lucia is our fifth destination. This was an amazing trip for my Queen's Birthday. St Lucia blew our minds with spectacular views, waterfalls, amazing food, beautiful sights, and adventure. To get into St Lucia as a vaccinated traveler this past summer, we needed a negative COVID-19 test within the last 5 days and a completed travel authorization form before landing. St Lucia Travel Vlog | Hiking the Petit Piton | Things to do in St Lucia | Caribbean Cruise
In this video we spend our port day in St. Lucia by exploring the island and hiking up the challenging Petit Piton.
The Petit Piton is the smaller of the two well known Pitons on the island of St. Lucia. We chose to hike Petit because it was known to be more challenging and involves rock climbing.
This excursion was not offered through the Celebrity Summit, likely due to the time it takes and the difficulty level. This hike is for those who are fit and adventurous. If you are considering this hike, know that there is risk involved. Portions of the last quarter of the climb are nearly vertical. One must use ropes and be able to hold most of your body weight, after a vigorous hike. Climb at your own risk.
We were initially not sure if we would be able to hike the Petit Piton when visiting on a cruise ship. It is approximately 2.5 hours round trip from the cruise port to the base of the Petit Piton. The hike typically takes visitors between 3.5 and 5 hours. After much research we finally located a tour company that ensured us they had picked up guests from the cruise port, hiked to the top of the Piton and returned to the ship before the all aboard time.

Deighton was responsive and answered all of our questions through the booking process. Our guide Shanus, the Mountain Fox, did an wonderful job ensuring we made it to the top and allowing us to enjoy our time at the top when we made it. Overall, St. Lucia Tours and the Petit Piton hike exceeded our expectations. We would do it all over again.
If you are not quite as adventurous as we are, the company offers additional tours, including hiking the Gros Piton and going on an island tour.

Petit Piton Hike (climb) St Lucia
@Dean_Trips climbs Petit Piton mountain in St Lucia with his wife and guide. The guide goes by his trade name Walking Tree and is extremely helpful on this challenging climb. Walking Tree can be requested by booking through Deighton at 1-758-721-0949 and this number can be reached through WhatsApp. The hike, which is more of a climb measured nearly 4 miles (6.33km) total and took us just over 4 hours to complete roundtrip including rest breaks. A pleasant hike with the boyz! This hike is not promoted by any tour companies in St. Lucia so you need to find a local to lead you up. This is an at your own risk endeavor, and requires a good amount of upper body strength. Sylvester was our guide, he was great... ask around for him in Soufriere.
