St George, Bermuda

This is a short video of St. George's Bermuda, a Unesco World Heritage Site. For details, go through

The town of St. George, which is located in St. George's Parish at the eastern end of Bermuda is steeped with history. This is where the first settlement of Bermuda began in 1609 when Sir George Somers and his crewmen arrived after their sailship wrecked on a reef nearby.

The Harbor town was the first capital of Bermuda before Hamilton City became the new capital. Other than many historic buildings, churches and museums, the place has many quaint shops, cobblestone narrow streets that still bear the names of the first parishioners, old pastel-coloured houses with slanted white roofs made of limestones, beautiful gardens & parks... it's a different world altogether.

There are many historic forts in St. George that were built by the British during the colonial era. Among them, Fort St. Catherine located next to St. Catherine's beach is one of the most popular and showcased. Construction of the Unfinished Church could not be completed due parish infightings and lack of funds. These are all today part of the Unesco World Heritage Site.

Out of several lovely beaches, Tobacco Bay Beach is the one which is most visited because it's not only great for snorkelling, it has full amenities including showers and change rooms, a beach bar, beach & snorkel rentals etc. There are many great restaurants as well as bars and boutique shops in St. Georges. Water Street is the main street here and most of the prominent shops and eateries are located along this street.

Bermuda Cruise Port Guide: St. George's and Blue Hole Park

In this video, we’ll provide an overview of our first day in Bermuda, when we visited St. George’s, a few of St. George’s beaches, and the Blue Hole Park nature preserve in Hamilton Parish.

Our ship -- the Celebrity Summit -- docked at the Royal Naval Dockyard port for three days in August of 2019. During our stay, we used Bermuda’s bus and ferry system to explore on our own.

The OTHER SIDE of BERMUDA St. George and the Blue Hole!!! (Norwegian Pearl Cruise)

Bermuda is a pretty big island! It is about 25 miles from tip to tip. You can drive it or take a ferry from one side to the other. And when you are cruising with Norwegian, they provide a free ferry to St. George... but it leaves early and we almost missed it! We literally had to run to make it on time... but we did. It is a peaceful almost hour ferry ride from Royal Dockyard to St. George.

Once we arrived, we needed coffee... stat! Which was actually a challenge as there are no coffee shops in this area and the restaurants don't open until lunch, but we found a little gas station that did the job. Then we grabbed a taxi driver and asked if he would take us around the area. We wanted to see Blue Hole and Tobacco Beach... and whatever else we had time for. BoBo was GREAT! He wasn't just a taxi driver, he was a lifelong local and showed us around his home! He walked us back to the Blud Hole telling us about the trees and plants and even where we could pick wild cherries! It was a great expereince!

We thought Bermuda was beautiful in what we saw the first two days, but it didn't stop! Blue Hole was breathtaking! This secret little area down a walking path was incredible. The water is so blue and so clear... and fish swim into this lagoon and never leave. We then took a quick tour around the area and landed on Tobacco Beach... which despite the weird name was a simply beautiful beach with amazing views! What a way to end our three day tour of Bermuda!!

Scenic Bermuda Ferry Ride Dockyard to St. George's (Orange Route)

On day 2 of our 3 day stay in Bermuda via cruise ship, we took a scenic Bermuda ferry ride from the Royal Naval Dockyard in King's Wharf to St. George's. The ferry service was by Sea Express and it was the Orange Route. There were nice views the of the King's Wharf cruise port, plus our cruise ship the Celebrity Summit and the Norwegian Escape as well.

During the ride we saw NCL's own private St. George's ferry right behind us. As we sailed around St. George's island we also had nice views of Fort St. Catherine, Higgs & Horseshoe islands, before reaching the St. George's Harbour. There we saw an impressive number of sailboats, some speeding quickly past each other. We then arrived at the St. George's Sea Express Ferry Terminal from which we walked to King's Square.

We will post more videos of our day in St. George's. The one we have up is our visit to Tobacco Bay Beach:

We also have a video up of the Bermuda cruise terminal at King's Wharf including getting the ferry passes here:

Saint George’s & The Crystal Cave Bermuda 4K

Saint George’s is in the northeast of the Bermuda Archipelago. The town has been inhabited continuously since 1612, making it the oldest English town in America and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The former capital has its historical character and acts like an open-air museum for tourists. The historic houses are inhabited or contain restaurants, bars and small shops. Many narrow streets, such as Barber’s Alley or Aunt Peggy’s Lane have kept their historical flair. Worth seeing are King’s Square with the town hall, Ordnance Island, the Old State House, the Unfinished Church, The Old Rectory and St. Peter’s Church.
The Crystal Cave is also worth a visit on the Caribbean island of Bermuda. The caves known as “Bermuda Hidden Treasures” are located in Hamilton Parish near Castle Harbor and can be reached quickly by bus or taxi from Saint George's. The breathtaking backdrop of the shimmering pools with the blue, crystal clear water form bizarre rock formations.
