Sylhet is the land of tea gardens in Bangladesh. It is located in north-east Bangladesh about 270KM far from Dhaka City. It has a total area of more than 26.50 km. Total Sylhet is not for tea culture rather a specific place is known as the heart of tea plantations in Bangladesh. Srimongal which is the heart of the tea garden in Bangladesh is about 191km far from Dhaka. Srimongal has a total area of 54 hectares and the number of entire tea estates is 163. There are about 3 lakhs (0.3 million) people working there surprisingly about 75% of the workers are female. Their main work is collecting tea tree leaves and carrying them to the factories.

প্রথমেই রওনা দিন মাধবপুর লেক (Madhabpur Lake)। যেতে সময় লাগবে প্রায় ১ ঘন্টা। চারপাশে চা বাগান দেখতে দেখতেই মাধবপুর লেকের কাছে চলে যাবেন। কিছুটা হেঁটে চা বাগানে ঢাকা সবুজ পাহাড় ঘেরা অপূর্ব মাধবপুর লেকের দেখা পাবেন।

মাধবপুর লেকে ঘন্টাখানেক সময় কাটিয়ে চলে যান লাউয়্যাছড়া জাতীয় উদ্যান (Lawachara National Park) ঘুরে দেখতে। লাউয়াছড়া উদ্যান একটি সংরক্ষিত বনাঞ্চল। ২৫০ হেক্টর আয়তনের এই উদ্যানে প্রায় ৪৬০ প্রজাতির দুর্লভ উদ্ভিদ ও প্রাণী রয়েছে। ছাত্র ও বাচ্চাদের জন্যে প্রবেশ টিকেট মূল্য ২০ টাকা, প্রাপ্ত বয়স্ক দর্শনার্থীদের প্রবেশ মূল্য ৫০ টাকা।

আধা ঘন্টা, এক ঘন্টা ও তিন ঘন্টার ৩টি ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ট্রেইল রয়েছে। পছন্দমত কোন ট্রেইলে ঘুরে দুপুরের মধ্যে ফিরে আসুন শ্রীমঙ্গল শহরে। লাউয়াছড়া থেকে আসার পথেই পড়বে বধ্যভূমি-৭১, চা বাগান, টি রিসোর্ট (Tea Resort and Museum), লেবু রাবার ও আনারস বাগান।

দুপুরে খেয়ে চলে যান শহরের কাছেই সীতেশ বাবুর চিড়িয়াখানা (Shitesh Babu's Zoo) দেখতে। হাতে সময় থাকলে বা অন্য কোন স্থানে যাওয়ার ইচ্ছে না থাকলে পড়ন্ত বিকেল হাইল হাওরে কাটাতে পারেন। বর্ষায় পানি ভর্তি হাওর বা শীতে অতিথি পাখির দেখা মিলবে এইখানে।

চিড়িয়াখানা বা হাওরে যাবার পরিকল্পনা না থাকলে বাংলাদেশ চা গবেষনা ইনস্টিটিউট (Bangladesh Tea Research Institute - BTRI) ঘুরে দেখুন। বিকেলে হাতে সময় থাকলে লালটিলা পাহাড়েও যেতে পারেন।

সাত রঙের চা খেতে চাইলে চলে যান আদী নীলকন্ঠ টি কেবিনে (Adi Nilkantha Tea Cabin)। তার কাছেই মনিপুরী পল্লী থেকে মনীপুরী শাড়ী, শাল সহ অনেক কিছুই কিনতে পারবেন। চা পাতা কিনতে শহরের স্টেশন রোড থেকে কেনাটাই ভালো হবে।

এইসবকিছু করতে হবে আপনার হাতের সময় অনুযায়ী। আপনি চাইলে যেকোন দর্শনীয় স্থান যুক্ত কিংবা বাদ দিয়ে ভ্রমণ পরিকল্পনা সাজিয়ে নিবেন।

Sreemangal is well known for tea plantation there are total 166 tea gardens are exists in bangladesh and these are at different places of the country. There are 166 tea gardens in the country. Of them, 93 are in Moulvibazar district. Around 8.21 crore kilograms of tea were yielded from all the tea plantations last year, according to Bangladesh Tea Board sources. The yield was 7.89 crore kilograms in 2017 and 8.50 crore kilograms in 2018

Sreemangal (Bengali: শ্রীমঙ্গল, romanized: Srimongol) is an upazila of Moulvibazar District in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. It is located at the southwest of the district, and borders the Habiganj District to the west and the Indian state of Tripura to the south. Sreemangal is often referred to as the 'tea capital' of Bangladesh, and is most famous for its tea fields. Other than tea, the rubber, pineapple, wood, betel, and lemon industries also exist in the upazila.
It is said the name Sreemangal (or Srimangal) is named after Sri Das and Mangal Das; two brothers who settled on the banks of the Hail Haor. A copper plate of Raja Marundanath from the 11th century was found in Kalapur. During an excavation at Lamua, an ancient statue of Ananta Narayan was dug out. In 1454, the Nirmai Shiva Bari was built and still stands today. Srimangal thana was established in 1912. The central town later became a pourashava in 1935. In 1963, two peasants were killed by police officers which kicked off the Balishira peasant riots. During the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, the Pakistani army reached Sreemangal on 30 April setting houses on fire and committing atrocities against women. The East Pakistan Rifles camp and Wapda office premises were among the two mass killing sites. Two mass graves remain in Bharaura with a memorial in North Bharaura
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Sreemangal has a population of 230,889. Males constitute 51.76% of the total population, and females 48.24%. This Upazila's 18+ population is 124,778. Sreemangal has an average literacy rate of 29.8% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. About 57% of this sub district's people are Muslims while 80% are Hindus
Madhobpur Lake is one of the main tourist attractions in the area, and is home to the Great White-Bellied Heron, the only confirmed site in Bangladesh. The Baikka beel is also a nearby body of water and home to the Large-billed reed warbler. Sreemangal has been nicknamed the tea capital of Bangladesh, due to the number of tea gardens in the area, and is the place of origin of the Seven Color Tea. The Bangladesh Tea Research Institute in Sreemangal has made a number of contributions in evolving and standardising the quality of tea, and introducing its research findings to the tea industry of Bangladesh. Pineapples from the Sreemangal area are known for their flavour and natural sweetness.[citation needed] In 2010, the Hum Hum waterfall was discovered and has attracted visitors from all over Bangladesh to Razkandi forest.
Sreemangal Upazila is divided into Sreemangal Municipality and nine union parishads: Ashidron, Bhunabir, Kalapur, Kalighat, Mirzapur, Rajghat, Satgaon, Sindurkhan, and Sreemangal. The union parishads are subdivided into 108 mauzas and 208 villages
Sreemangal Municipality is subdivided into 9 wards and 20 mahallas
According to Banglapedia, Victoria High School, founded in 1924, is a notable secondary school. The Jamia Luthfia Anwarul Uloom Hamidnagar is a notable madrasa and Islamic centre in the Sylhet region.

Sreemangal is situated in the Moulvibazar district in the Sylhet division. Sreemangal is an Upazila. It is famous for its tea garden. Rain all time occurs here. Nature has adorned sreemangal with green trees. Its natural scenery is very charming. It soothes one’s eyes. Birds are twittering always here.

The first tea garden in Bangladesh which is named “Malni chho ra tea garden” is here. The terraced tea gardens, plantations, and evergreen hills of sreemangal are wonderful treats for the tourists.

On the way, to Sreemangal by bus, you’ll see a statue “cha konna” which stands for the welcome you. But if you come to sreemangal by train you’ll miss this statue. When you’ll come near to the tea garden you find the smell of tea leaves.
