Antigua and Barbuda is a sovereign island country in the West Indies in the Americas, lying between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of two major islands, Antigua and Barbuda separated by 63 km (39 mi), and smaller islands (including Great Bird, Green, Guiana, Long, Maiden, Prickly Pear, York Islands, Redonda). The permanent population number is about 97,120 (2019 est.), with 97% being resident on Antigua. The capital and largest port and city is St. John's on Antigua, with Codrington being the largest town on Barbuda. Lying near each other, Antigua and Barbuda are in the middle of the Leeward Islands, part of the Lesser Antilles, roughly at 17°N of the equator.
The island of Antigua was explored by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and named for the Church of Santa María La Antigua. Antigua was colonized by Britain in 1632; Barbuda island was first colonised in 1678. Having been part of the Federal Colony of the Leeward Islands from 1871, Antigua and Barbuda joined the West Indies Federation in 1958. With the breakup of the federation, it became one of the West Indies Associated States in 1967. Following self-governance in its internal affairs, independence was granted from the United Kingdom on 1 November 1981. Antigua and Barbuda is a member of the Commonwealth and Elizabeth II is the country's queen and head of state.
The economy of Antigua and Barbuda is particularly dependent on tourism, which accounts for 80% of GDP. Like other island nations, Antigua and Barbuda are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, such as sea level rise, and increased intensity of extreme weather like hurricanes, which have direct impacts on the island through coastal erosion, water scarcity, and other challenges. As of 2019, Antigua and Barbuda has a 0% individual income tax rate, as does neighboring St. Kitts and Nevis.

1952 A HISTORIC DESTINATION VIDEO OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority presents for the very first time in Antigua, the first known destination video produced about Antigua.
The 1952: Antigua destination video, features heritage buildings, familiar streets, the Hellsgate Steel Orchestra, Highlanders, the sugar factory, sea island cotton production, tourist sites such as the Nelson's Dockard, the Mill Reef Club and more.
The video was previously stored in a vault in England. Featuring actor and historian Mr. Jules Walter had previously mentioned the lost film to Cultural Envoy to Antigua and Barbuda Dr. Barbara Paca. Together they worked with the Tourism Authority and the British Film Institute in London to recover and bring the film to Antigua. Interestingly, Mr. Walter is featured in the film with his artist relation Frank Walter.
We have learnt that George Nugget Joseph of the Hellsgate Steelpan Orchestra is also featured within the video.

DEEP BAY BEACH ANTIGUA & BARBUDA:
Even if you spend countless hours poring over an endless stream of images, videos and information on Antigua's 365 sun-kissed shores in preparation for an upcoming visit, the mere sight of Deep Bay Beach will still take your breath away when you get there.
Deep Bay Beach is crescent shaped beach with white sand. The water is spectacularly gin-clear and absolutely flat.
This arched beach is perfect for a number of reasons. It is located only a ten-minute-drive away from St. John’s but remains largely undisturbed by throngs of tourists. If you happen to arrive here by boat, it is also the perfect spot to throw down your anchor as it is well protected from the rough seas. Many visitors to this beach come for snorkeling, as a wreck lies right in the middle of the bay.
The Andes, a ship from Trinidad sank here nearly 100 years ago and its mast pokes out of the water till today. Snorkeling around the wreck is a popular activity and many marine animals call this place home. There are not many facilities here. At the end of the beach there is Grazie (Italian restaurant). It is important to note if you are travelling with children, there are no public restrooms on this beach. Along with swimming and sunbathing, many also choose to head to the island’s north end where you can hike to the ruins of the 18th century Fort Barrington.
