In this South Africa documentary we feature our favorite spots and highlights along the Garden Route which we visited during our road trip. The video includes part of the Eastern and Western Cape where we traveled during a 3-week Self-Drive Road Trip between Cape Town and the game resorts east of Port Elizabeth such as Addo National Park, Pumba Private Game Reserve & Lodge and Amakhala Game Reserve. Beside the region around the Cape and the famous Cape of Good Hope you will see many spots along the Garden Route, amazing places in the Wine Region (incl. some Wine tastings) around Stellenbosch/Franschhoek and the Cederberg region.

This ultimate road trip we are embarking on has wildlife, adventure, and of course epic views!

Enjoy a Self Drive Vacation in the Garden Route, South Africa
The route from Cape Town to Hermanus is the first leg of South Africa’s incredibly scenic and well-maintained Garden Route, a coastal meander that is perfect for travellers on a self-drive vacation. Leaving Table Mountain behind, we head up magnificent Sir Lowry’s Pass – with beautiful views over False Bay – before an easy cruise into seaside Hermanus, which is rightfully known as the world’s leading whale-watching destination. Every year between June and October, southern right whales return to Hermanus’s Walker Bay to mate and calve. In between watching whales from land and by boat, we relaxed at two of Hermanus’s best hotels, Birkenhead House and The Marine, as well as taking in a trip to the nearby Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for world-class tasting at Hamilton Russell. All this less than two hours’ drive from Cape Town!
