River Nile is the longest river in the world with Lake Victoria as its source. The river starts its 6,500km journey to the Mediterranean Sea (Egypt) beside Jinja town (Uganda) and holds the Owen Falls Dam, the source of hydro electricity for Uganda with one other dam currently under construction.

Visiting The Source Of The Nile | World’s Longest River
Hello Awesome people,
In this vlog, were travelling together to the source of the longest river in the world, River Nile.
The longest river in Africa, it has historically been considered the longest river in the world, though this has been contested by research suggesting that the Amazon River is slightly longer, the Nile is amongst the smallest of the major world rivers by measure of cubic metres flowing annually, about 6,650 km (4,130 mi) long.
The Nile has two major tributaries – the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The White Nile is considered to be the headwaters and primary stream of the Nile itself. The Blue Nile, however, is the source of most of the water, containing 80% of the water and silt. The White Nile is longer and rises in the Great Lakes region of central Africa, with the most distant source still undetermined but located in either Rwanda or Burundi. It flows north through Tanzania, Lake Victoria, Uganda and South Sudan. The Blue Nile begins at Lake Tana in Ethiopia and flows into Sudan from the southeast. The two rivers meet just north of the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
The northern section of the river flows north almost entirely through the Sudanese desert to Egypt, where Cairo is located on its large delta and the river flows into the Mediterranean Sea at Alexandria. Egyptian civilization and Sudanese kingdoms have depended on the river since ancient times. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along those parts of the Nile valley north of Aswan. Nearly all the cultural and historical sites of Ancient Egypt developed and are found along river banks.

A Journey To The Source Of The Nile River. From Uganda To Egypt.
The Nile River flows from south to north through eastern Africa. It begins in the rivers that flow into Lake Victoria (located in modern-day Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya), and empties into the Mediterranean Sea more than 6,600 kilometers (4,100 miles) to the north, making it the longest river in Africa and the disputed longest river in the world, as the Brazilian government says that the Amazon River is longer than the Nile.
The Nile River was critical to the development of ancient Egypt. In addition to Egypt, the Nile runs through or along the border of 10 other African countries, namely, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. Its three main tributaries are the White Nile, the Blue Nile, and the Atbara.
The White Nile is the headwaters and primary stream of the Nile itself.
The Blue Nile, however, is the source of most of the water and silt.

Jinja is a town in Uganda, about 80km from Kampala. Population of around 75,000. It is situation on Lake Victoria...and is famously know as the source of the Nile.
I stayed at the City Hotel in downtown Jinja. Cost around $21 per night. It is situated in the mall shown at the start of the video.

QUELLE DES NILS in JINJA UGANDA mit Bootsfahrt auf dem NIL. Die Top-Attraktion der Stadt Jinja, rund 100 Kilometer östlich von Kampala.
Du planst einen Urlaub in Uganda? Dann solletst du auch einen Besuch von Jinja mit einplanen, denn hier befindet sich die Quelle des Nils.
Neben zahlreichen Verkaufsständen befinden sich hier am Nilufer auch Restaurants. Hauptattraktion dieser Location ist natürlich eine Bootsfahrt auf dem Nil. Zur Auswahl stehen verschieden lange Bootstouren, wobei natürlich gilt: Je länger die Bootsfahrt, desto teurer. Aber das sollte ja wohl keine Überraschung sein. Jeder Tourist/Passagier, der das Boot besteigt, muss hier eine Schwimmweste tragen. Sicherheit geht schließlich vor, auch wenn der Nil hier eher ruhig und gemütlich fließt.
Warum eigentlich Quelle des Nils?
Hier bei Jinja verlässt der Nil den Viktoriasee, um dann im weiteren Verlauf durch Uganda, Südsudan, Sudan und Ägypten zu fließen.
Und damit du auch wirklich beweisen kannst, dass du in Jinja an der Quelle des Nils gewesen bist, wurde etwa in der Flussmitte ein einsprechendes Hinweisschild samt Besucherplattform im Nil erreichtet. Hier kannst du dann tolle Selfies machen oder du lässt dich fotografieren.
Souveniers und afrikanische Kunst:
Die Preise an den Ständen hier an der Quelle des Nils sind natürlich ein klein wenig höher als auf den Märkten und Geschäften in Jinja oder Kampala.
Anfahrt zur Quelle des Nils:
Am besten einfach in deinem Hotel in Jinja ein Taxi bestellen. Etwas preisgünstiger geht es natürlich, wenn du per Boda Boda zur Quelle des Nils fährst.
