Sorrento, Italy Walking Tour in 4K
WALKING IN SORRENTO, ITALY: This walk was filmed on May 19th, 2018. Sorrento, also known as the Gateway to the Amalfi Coast, sits high up on the mountainous Sorrentine peninsula and looks out over the Bay of Naples. Take a walk through its ancient streets, past boutiques, and limoncello stands and then down to the old fishing quarter, Marina Grande. From there you'll see amazing views out over the bay as you walk down the cliff face to the beach clubs below. There you will see Marina Piccola, Sorrento's main port where you can catch a ferry to the surrounding islands including Capri, Ischia and Procida. Finally you'll walk up a winding road and end up looking out over old ruins in the Valley of the Mills. ????For an even more immersive experience, be sure to put on your headphones and listen in 3D audio. ================================================================================

In its history, Sorrento has been ruled by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, French, and Spanish, and it was sacked by the Turks. You'll see these influences in its architecture and even hear hints of Spanish in its dialect. The history of Sorrento is a long tale that dates back some 2,600 years. The Greeks founded Sorrento in the 6th century BC and called it Surreo which means to “flow together” and it may refer to the flow of the two ancient rivers. The Greeks laid the foundations of the city before the Romans built over it and called it Surrentum. The layout of the historic centre of Sorrento has not changed much since Roman times and it was united with the Kingdom of Italy in the year 1861.
Our guided walking tour is about 1.86 miles (3 km) long and covers most attractions and historic sites of Sorrento.

Sorrento 4K walking tour
Sorrento is the closest of the Amalfi coast towns to Naples and it's bigger and less touristy than, say, Positano. But we really liked our short stay there. This 4k walk starts from the Piazza Tasso, along the Corso and then through the streets of the old town down to the port. And then back to the Piazza along a narrow and busy road that used to be a stream where all the mills were located.
Pro Tip: Jose Lucio Correa points out in the comments that, if you arrive in the port, you don't need to either walk up the very steep hill to the town or take a taxi. Instead, there's an elevator (The Sorrento Lift). I walked close by it in the video and I've added its approximate location on the timeline. As you face the town from the port, you need to walk to the right along the water for about 250 meters.

Sorrento is a town in the Campania region, overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. A popular tourist destination, Sorrento is located on the Sorrentine Peninsula at the south-eastern terminus of the Circumvesuviana rail line, within easy access from Naples and Pompeii. The town is widely known for its small ceramics, lacework and marquetry (woodwork) shops.
The Sorrentine Peninsula has views of Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive, connecting Sorrento and Amalfi, is a narrow road along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Ferries and hydrofoils connect the town to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia.
Sorrento is a perfect town to visit the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Ischia and Naples. Beautiful sea views, with many activities to enjoy!.

Sorrento Italy ???????? 4K Walking Tour March 2022
This is walking tour of Sorrento, Italy taken in early March. Sorrento is a small town overlooking the Bay of Naples and it is about an hour train ride away from Naples. It is also the western gateway to the Almafi Coast and could be a home base to travel around there. I will start the tour at the Piazza Tasso and then walk through the narrow streets and visit a couple shops.
