Nikon Z6 for Adventure Filmmaking - Behind the Scenes while Mountaineering

I spent a week in the Canadian Rockies filming a video about Mountaineering while using the Nikon Z 6 Filmmakers Kit. I partnered with Nikon to pursue my passion of mountaineering and adventure filmmaking.  This video goes through what it took to make my film and my experience working with the Z 6.

Nikon Z6II: Worth Upgrading From The D750?

Having used the Nikon D750 full-time for 5 years (almost my entire portfolio has been captured with it!), I decided to give the new Nikon Z6II a crack out in the field with some summer sunflowers. Is it good enough to warrant making the switch to mirrorless from a proven Nikon DSLR?

Huge thanks to for helping out with filming!

Disclaimer: Nikon sent me the Z6II and lens, but this review is 100% my own opinion and was not influenced in any way by Nikon.

The Nikon Z6 Might Be The Most Exciting Video Camera On The Market

with Talk of the Fuji xt3 the upcoming Panasonic full frame camera and the upcoming Sony crop sensor camera it feels as if everybody is overlooking what the Nikon Z6 could be. The Nikon Z6 offers video features that we currently do not have from any other manufacturer on the market. Good Nikon Z6 offers 10 bit 4K video to an external recorder a very low compression ring. this is a long with Nikon's new and improved color science and the new Nikon log profile. Although it has older style battery the fact that it can be charged via USB C is extremely underrated. While other cameras do offer competitive if not better video stocks they do not do this at. Don't make the same mistake I did by not having a cloud backup for my photos/video.

Nikon Mirrorless Announcement, Lets Talk Nikon Z6 & Z7

we have recently seen leaked images of the upcoming Nikon mirrorless cameras. It seems that Nikon's approach with their new mirrorless bodies being the z7 and Z6 is to copy Sony's business model. with these upcoming Nikon mirrorless cameras we can see that Nikon is choosing to use the same camera bodies but Place different sensors and different Tech inside each of these cameras. this approach allows Nikon to manufacture the bodies for these mirrorless cameras significantly cheaper than that of their conventional cameras. Along with this reduced cost in manufacturing I'm hoping that Nikon's new mirrorless cameras are able to pack more Tech and more Innovative features inside. Along with these new mirrorless camera designs using the same camera bodies would allow Nikon to engineer the thermal dynamics of the processor research and development cost. while Sony has in my opinion changed the industry by using one camera body design to lower production costs and provide Tech at a rock-bottom price I find it especially interesting that Nikon has taken this approach with their cameras and it gives me a lot of hope that Nikon will use the Savings in research and development to add more video features which has been a place that Nikon has traditionally been lacking. Will the new Nikon Mirrorless z6 & z7 ba genuine threat to Sony's mirrorless dominance? also it's going to be extremely interesting to see if these Nikon mirrorless cameras will be enough to persuade Converse to come back to Nikon from Sony or will it be enough to satisfy the needs of the modern hybrid shooter?

Nikon Z 6II Review and First Impression

#NikonZ6II #MirrorlessCamera #Review

Watch as Nikon Z Ambassador Vijay Eesam talks about all the features which make the Z 6II stand out for him as a professional, while also showcasing some photos clicked with it. For him the faster 14 FPS burst, longer 3X Buffer, Dual Card slots, Eye & Animal-Detection AF in still and video, and the ability to charge the camera while shooting make this camera his primary tool for capturing gorgeous images and videos.

My Nikon Mirrorless Wishlist For The Z6 And Z7

With the impending release of Nikon's upcoming mirrorless cameras I thought it would be interesting to put together a wish list of some areas and features that I think Nikon needs to include with their upcoming mirrorless cameras. Although Nikon had previous experience with the release of the Nikon 1 mirrorless camera the diminutive sensor size and lack of full frame mirrorless doesn't give much Credence nor direction to the way Nikon is going. Although Sony mirrorless cameras in their Sony A7 line have been dominant for the last year-and-a-half Nikon is looking to threaten Sony full-frame mirrorless dominance. While Canon has yet to bring a mirrorless full-frame camera to the table and has been giving Canon users a mediocre EOS m line of cameras Sony has been dominant in the apsc mirrorless realm. I decided to put some of my thoughts down as to what I would like to see from Nikon's upcoming mirrorless camera. Although these features are not exclusive to a mirrorless form factor or a mirrorless specific body it would be interesting to see if Nikon is willing to implement some of these mirrorless features into the Live View mode that their cameras currently have. it is clear with the megapixel count and the price point of the upcoming Nikon mirrorless cameras that Nikon is clearly shooting for the a7r Mark 3 and A7 Mark 3 from Sony.

while Nikon mirrorless cameras are not going to be aimed at the same professional Market that the Nikon d850 is it would be interesting to see what types of features Nikon is willing to put in their cameras. along with the features and options for still photography more people are excited as to what Nikon could be bringing in the muralist video space. Will Nikon go head-to-head with Sony and release a camera with 4K 60fps? Or will we get a cropped 4K 24 frames a second like we'd have in the Canon 5D Mark 4. along with Nikon entry into the full frame mirrorless realm much of this has me wondering if we are going to see a crop sensor Nikon mirrorless camera. Nikon has already shown us that they are willing to take crop sensor photography seriously with the release of the Nikon d500.

Nikon Z6 vs Sony A7 III

Sony A7 III and Nikon Z6 Specifications Comparison

The Sony A7 III has been one of the market’s highest-selling full-frame cameras in recent months, thanks in large part to its combination of impressive features and low price tag. But there’s some competition in town – the Nikon Z6, another 24 megapixel full-frame mirrorless camera making waves as Nikon’s first attempt at full-frame mirrorless (along with the higher-resolution Z7). Although both the Nikon Z6 and Sony A7 III have a $2000 price tag, there are some important feature differences between them, too. We’ll compare them in detail below

Heather and I spent the afternoon around downtown Chattanooga trying various restaurants and doing street photography, panning blurs, portraits and a blue hour building photo. We had a really nice time and I was able to make some photos that I thought were interesting.
