Travel Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 40 | Antigua

Backpacked from San Pedro Lake Atítlan back to the traveler backpacker mecca Antigua, Guatemala. It felt good to be back in this beautiful Guatemalan colonial town! I was trying to come up with a travel plan for the upcoming days before traveling into El Salvador with a shuttle from Antigua. Most people skip El Salvador but I definitely wanted to see El Salvador's beaches, lakes, mountains, volcanoes and its natural beauty. Although I was a girl traveling alone, I didn't feel scared but more like excited to see a new country!

Solo Female Travel - Antigua, Guatemala

My first time in Guatemala was so awesome! I visited Antigua and spent the last few days of 2016 exploring this laid-back, beautiful, colourful cobble-stoned town that is surrounded by volcanoes. I rang in the New Year 2017 in Antigua and climbed Pacaya volcano for a challenging hike up and back down. While walking the streets there I knew I wanted to go back one day and explore Guatemala even further. I found the place very relaxing and was able to unwind with other travelers.

This solo trip to Mexico City and Guatemala was unforgettable and I encourage you to get out there, solo or not, and travel this incredible world. Thank you for watching and make sure to subscribe to watch my future travel adventures!

Travel Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 36 | Volcano Acatenango Hike

Volcano Acatenango and Vúlcan El Fuego..definitely one of the top things to do & see in Guatemala! This natural wonder is one of the main attractions of Guatemala, situated near Antigua. We did the famous 2 day hike with a tour and climbed the inactive Volcano Acatenango with a group of 15 people. We camped that night and were very lucky to see volcano El Fuego erupt in the distance with lava flowing down the rims. The next morning we woke up at 4am and climbed to the very peak of the volcano to see the sunrise next to Vúlcan Agua. It was absolutely stunning and one of the best things and experiences I have ever done in my whole life. If you are in Guatemala, I highly recommend doing this volcano tour!

Travel Guide to Antigua/Guatemala

In this Guatemala and Antigua travel video guide, I head down to Guatemala and explore scenic Antigua, hike Volcano Pacaya, take a road trip to Lake Atitlan (and ride a horse along its banks), then head north to Tikal, home to the capital of the once mighty Mayan Empire, where I climb the many temples that have been discovered at the site.

Backpack Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 37 | Glamping in Free Cerveza Lake Atítlan

After climbing Volcano Acatenango we spent a couple days in beautiful Antigua, Guatemala and then headed to Lake Atítlan. Traveling in Guatemala is not always so easy however, and it it took us 7 HOURS to get from Antigua to the Lake... Finally we arrived at Santa Clara, a town in Lake Atítlan that is famous amongst backpackers with its Free Cerveza hostel. This legendary hostel is fun for a couple days but be aware - free cerveza might not be the only thing you might get from the hostel (read: a free hungover as well!).

Backpacking Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 34 | Flores & Tikal

Our backpacking adventure continued from Belize (San Ignacio) to Guatemala. We crossed the border to Guatemala from Belize and got a shuttle to the island of Flores. Flores is a cute little island where most backpackers stop while visiting the world famous Maya pyramids of Tikal - the top thing to do & top attraction to see in Guatemala, for sure. We stayed in the legendary Los Amigos hostel - a backpacker hub where most traveler hatch before doing one of the Tikal tours. The hostel is one of the most nicely decorated hostels I've ever stayed at, so it is a must see ! We did the Early Bird tour to Tikal as we heard that the Sunrise + Sunset tours were BS - as you won't be able to see neither of them anyways.

Backpacking Guatemala - A Couple of Travellers Episode 14

This is the penultimate episode of Andy & Steph's big adventure. Part 14 of the series brings them to Guatemala, beginning in the magnificent archaeological site of Tikal.

After visiting the Mayan ruins they head south to Rio Dulce, experiencing the worlds only hot waterfall before exploring a pirate castle and derelict hotel.

Back on the road they head to the colonial city of Antigua to climb the Acatenango volcano. Here they push themselves to reach the summit for an awe inspiring view of the exploding Volcan de Fuego (Fire Volcano). After recovering from the volcanic climb they experience a Guatemalan football match and even manage to get photographed for the local paper.

The next destination on their trip of Guatemala brings them to Semuc Champey. Plenty of adventure in store here as they explore blue lagoons, swimming through darkened caves and go on a beer fuelled tubing trip down the river.

Their final stop is a unique hostel called Free Cerverza (Free Beer) in the beautiful Lake Atitlan. Beers are a plenty at this eco-hostel before trying a cliff jump.

Travel El Salvador | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 41 | El Zonte

After a crazy night out in Antigua, Guatemala, I continued backpacking through Central America. I took a shuttle from Antigua to El Zonte, El Salvador. The border crossing from Guatemala to El Salvador went smoothly. I arrived in a quiet beach town where the main things to do were relaxing in a hammock or surfing. Although I was traveling alone as a woman in El Salvador, I didn't feel unsafe.

Why I don't hitchhike in Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 35 | Semuc Champey

This is why I don't hitchhike in Guatemala. After 9 hours of traveling, we finally arrived in Lanquín! We stayed at the famous backpacker hostel, Zephyr Lodge that has a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the valley and the mountains. We did an independent trip to the Guatemalan natural wonder of Semuc Champey which is a must see attraction of Guatemala if you're in Alta Verapaz! Semuc Champey is also on the gringo trail through Cantral America and most backpackers visit this site. The natural monument of Semuc Champey consists of many waterfalls and natural pools where you can swim in - a definite must do in Guatemala!

Backpack Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 38 | ROADTRIP with Law of Attraction

Not all of you might believe in the law of attraction but I do. I was in Santa Clara, Hostal Free Cerveza Lake Atítlan (Lago Atítlan) when I was presented with this amazing opportunity. I managed to manifest exactly what I wanted and had on my vision board through universal energy ! This had been a longterm dream of mine while traveling. And I really hoped to go roadtripping during my travels in Latin America. So thank you universe :)

Over 1000 miles with several buses, shuttles, ferries and boats.

CENTRAL AMERICA BACKPACKING TRIP | Ep3: Guatemala

I went solo backpacking around Central America for 6 weeks, travelling through Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.

This 3 part documentary series shows the entire backpacking experience.

In this final video I went to Antigua and got to roast some marsh-mellows on Pacaya volcano.

I then did a 3 day trek from Xela to Lake Atitlan, hiking through cloud forests, corn fields, small villages and staying with local families.

At Lake Atitlan I got to try out horse-riding for the first time before finishing up my trip at El Paredon on the Pacific Coast.

Backpack Guatemala | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 39 | San Pedro Lake Atítlan

I continued backpacking solo in Guatemala and headed from Santa Clara to San Pedro (Lake Atitlan) via boat. San Pedro, the backpacker party town of Lake Atitlan is a definite pit stop on the backpacker route in Guatemala throughout Central America to South America. I wasn't how ever to party in San Pedro but to work and do some videos.

DO NOT STAY AT SEPHYR LODGE

Do NOT stay in ZEPHYR LODGE ! While in Lanquín, Guatemala, do NOT stay in ZEPHYR LODGE because they scam backpackers & travellers. There are plenty of nice hostels in Lanquín, Guatemala where you can stay in while visiting the waterfalls & natural pools of Semuc Champey.
