FIRST TIME TRYING BULGARIAN FOOD (Sofia Food Tour)

???????? HOW IS IT ALL SO GOOD!?

We are so excited to try a bunch of different Bulgarian food (and Bulgarian street foods) especially the raved about Shopska salad.
We started our DIY Sofia food tour with a BANG, trying Banitsa at one of the most recommended bakeries in Sofia. It wasn't a surprise they were amazing, what was a surprise is which one we like the best!
We then unfortunately had a not so good time at a local favourite cafe before the day really rallied and we had a few traditional Bulgarian foods at Izbata tavern!

I think we nailed the Bulgarian food tour!

Thanks for watching!

BEST Bulgarian FOOD in Sofia - Banitsa is what YOU SHOULD EAT

Going to Bulgaria? Then you must try Banitsa!!! This traditional pastry is one of the most popular dishes within the Bulgarian cuisine and the staple of the Bulgarian breakfast. Being phyllo-dough-based, Bulgarian Banitsa is a type of burek (börek) and it comes with a broad range of fillings; the most common are different cheeses (most often sirene cheese), spinach, minced meat or a combination. There are also sweet fillings, for instance apple or pumpkin. This calorie dense pastry is inexpensive and thus makes for the perfect street food. Banitsa can be found across the country, and for the Bulgarian capital Sofia - at bakeries in every corner. You will love this Bulgarian food dish, trust me! However, obviously there are more to the Bulgarian cuisine than Banitsa. Don't forget to try Shopska Salad, Tarator soup and Kebapche at the least.

ADDRESSES:
Софийска Баница (first bakery):
Традиционна Баница (second bakery):

And what about the Bulgarian capital Sofia City? Surrounded by mountains, Sofia is located 550 metres above sea level. The scenary is beautiful when strolling the streets; Vitosha mountain can always be seen in the distance. The high elevation results in relatively large temperature variation between day and night, with days being hot and nights being somewhat chilly during the summer months. There are many attractions and sightseeing spots and all are within walking distance - visting Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a must. Adding friendly people and inexpensive accommodation and food makes Sofia the perfect European summer travel destination.

Inside Women's Market SOFIA Bulgaria | CHEAP Local Street Food ????????

We head out to the women's Market (zhenski pazar) here in the City of Sofia, Bulgaria ????????

We pretty much spent the day wandering round the bustling markets, getting some really good cheap local food as always, buying fresh produce and just enjoying our time here in rainy Sofia

The city is absolutely huge but this part is one of our absolute favourites, we also especially like the mineral springs in the center where we've been getting all of our drinking water from!

Bulgaria is off to a decent start for us! ????????
