Location
1. Sodom and Gomorrah are located around the eastern side of the Dead Sea.
2. Gomorrah is located at the base of Masada, and Sodom is about 13 miles (20 km.) south of Gomorrah.
3. Though the actual locations of the cities are somewhat disputed, the growing evidence reveals that the locations are quite certain. This evidence is provided in the following section.
Historical Background
1. Josephus, a historian writer during the time of Christ, said the ruins could still be clearly seen in his day.
2. Archeologists have discovered around 1.5 million bodies in graves in these areas around Sodom and Gomorrah.
3. There are a lot of brimstone (old name for sulfur) balls in these cities.
4. This sulfur is unique and different from all other sulfur found in the world.
It is around 90-95% pure.
It is white, unlike any other place in the world.
It is so pure you can light it on fire, and it burns a hot blue flame.
These sulfur balls are not found between the cities.
5. There is a lot of ash in these areas which fits the biblical narrative.
2 Peter 2:6: And if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter.
6. The material of these city formations is calcium sulfate, which is what limestone and sulfur become when heated.
7. The choice building material in Israel is limestone, so these cities fit the scientific evidence as well.
8. There is a lot of charcoal layers found in the strata of these cities.
9. The amount of ash, charcoal, and calcium sulfate reveals overwhelming evidence of extreme heat in these cities.
10. There is also no geothermal activity in these areas to explain the ash, charcoal, and calcium sulfate.
11. In addition, there are many unexplained shapes in these areas that look like buildings, Sphinxes, pyramids, and palaces.
12. These cities existed around 4,000 years ago, so their remains would be difficult to distinguish. Plus, God destroyed and reduced them to ashes as well.
13. These cities fit the location as described in the Bible.
Genesis 13:10: Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar [Zoar has been identified as being south of Sodom and Gomorrah].
14. Because the Dead Sea basin used to be like the Garden of Eden, it was an extremely desirable climate that was great for agriculture and life in general. It was, therefore, a very populated area.
15. The thought of God raining down fire and brimstone upon the cities and peoples in this area is staggering and gives me chills up and down my spine. This fire and brimstone were so hot and intense it destroyed everything in its wake.
16. God also used Sodom and Gomorrah to refer to all of the cities of the Dead Sea basin.

I visited the Dead Sea and explored the area and found historical place- Mount Sodom and Lot's Wife that is actually a Pillar of Salt.
Sodom and Gomorrah, notoriously sinful cities in the biblical book of Genesis, destroyed by “sulfur and fire” because of their wickedness (Genesis 19:24).
When running from the destruction, Lot's wife looked back at the city, and she became a pillar of salt.

We haven't released many videos of the Lake Lisan marly gypsum (ash) deposits along the Dead Sea shore and in the Jordan valley that are full of sulfur nodules (aka brimstone). While geologists consider these deposits and sulfur balls to be of natural origin the Bible says this region was once a lush fertile plain with major cities that God destroyed using fire and sulfur. Ron Wyatt, a Biblical explorer from Tennessee, was the first to associate these sites with the Biblical destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. You decide who's right. As one professor of Biblical archaeology stated: While visiting the museum at Lot’s Cave, we found several displays of particular interest geologically. The first consisted of a ball of sulfur encased in gypsum. According to the museum’s labeling, such sulfur balls have been recovered from the shore of the Dead Sea. The biblical text indicates that the Lord “rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire” (Genesis 19:24 ESV). The following questions remain for geologists to consider: (1) How were the sulfur balls encased in gypsum formed? (2) Could such sulfur balls be the result of divine judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah?

Sodom and Gomorrah is this the place?
Where notoriously sinful cities in the biblical book of Genesis, destroyed by “sulfur and fire” because of their wickedness (Genesis 19:24). Sodom and Gomorrah along with the cities of Admah, Zeboiim, and Zoar (Bela) constituted the five “cities of the plain,” and they are referenced throughout both the Old and New Testament.
In the Genesis account, God reveals to Abraham that Sodom and Gomorrah are to be destroyed for their grave sins (18:20). Abraham pleads for the lives of any righteous people living there, especially the lives of his nephew, Lot, and his family. Abraham seems to negotiate with God on behalf of the righteous in the two cities. God first agrees to spare the cities if 50 righteous people can be found and eventually agrees to spare them if 10 righteous people can be found (18:23–32). Two angels, appearing as men, are sent to Lot in Sodom but are met with a wicked mob who ask for the newcomers. Lot offers the mob his daughters instead, but this only further enrages the mob, who are then struck blind by the angelic guests (19:1–11). Finding only Lot and his family as righteous among the inhabitants, the angels warn Lot to quickly evacuate the city and not look back. As they flee the destruction, Lot’s wife looks back upon the city and is turned into a pillar of salt (19:12–29).

The Physical Ashen Remains of Sodom & Gomorrah
The remains of Sodom and Gomorrah, situated beside the Dead Sea, can be easily visited today. These sites were first identified by Ron Wyatt in the late 1980s. The Dead Sea in the Bible
There are many mentions of the Dead Sea in the Bible, and it has long been associated with mysticism, wonderment, and religious significance.
1. It appears the area around the Dead Sea was lush and well-watered before God destroyed the area with fire and brimstone (Genesis 13:10).
2. It appears that after God destroyed the area, it changed to the state it is today, a dry, barren desert (Deuteronomy 29:23).
3. It is referenced often to describe the borders of Israel (Numbers 34:12).
4. It was a densely populated area during the time of Abraham before God destroyed the area (Genesis 14:1-3).
5. Sodom and Gomorrah, along with the other cities of the valley, were wicked, sinful people (Genesis 18:20–21).
6. God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:23–29).
7. The slopes of Mount Sodom are located in the southeast corner of the Dead Sea, and they feature salt formations that look like pillars – which are traditionally referred to as Lot’s wife.
8. The Bible talks about how this area will change during the Millennial Reign of Christ on earth after the Great Tribulation Period (Ezekiel 47:7-11; Zechariah 14:8-9).
