Hi! Friends in this video we are touring and snorkeling the Daymaniyat Islands which is one of the most surprising and one must-do parts of a trip to Muscat, Oman. Nine small islands make up this snorkeling hotspot, with its brightly colored fish, sea turtles, and clear beautiful water. The islands are a natural preserve, uninhabited, completely natural, and protected by a marine reserve. They were designated as a nature reserve in 1993 to help conserve the turtles and fish as well as the coral reefs in the area. In order to preserve and protect the islands, trips are limited by the government. During the months of May to October, tours are not allowed to land. A half day tour will run you around OMR. 25.000/- and includes lunch and all snorkeling gear.
GETTING THERE:
By far, the best and easiest way to get to the Daymaniyat Islands is to book a boat trip through a tour company, there are several tour operators in Muscat that offer group and private trips. The ride out to the islands takes around 30-40 minutes - and it is intense! Not in a make you seasick kind of way, but a hold-on-tight or you feel like you might flying off the boat, fun kind of way. Our tour started around 8AM and dropped us back at about 2PM, included a great lunch of sandwiches, tea, coffee, cookies, and fresh fruit, and all snorkeling gear.

Episode 30 - In the second part of this Oman documentary series we take a boat trip out to the Daymaniyat Islands. They're a Nature Reserve protected by the Omani government since 1996 to help conserve the turtles and fish as well as the coral reefs in the area. They are located around 40 kilometers off the coast of Muscat about 45 to 50 minute boat ride from the Al Mouj Marina. The Daymaniyat Islands are an archipelago of nine small islands that make this a tourist hotspot as the island are also often called “the Jewel of the Middle East”. They are surrounded by turquoise waters and stunning coral reefs that are perfect for snorkeling and diving.
The Daymaniyat Islands is also one of the best spots in the Middle East for whale shark snorkeling and diving. That’s because the gigantic fish congregate in large numbers along Muscats coastline every summer. Whale shark season is between September to November. Whale sharks are unquestionably the most powerful fish in the ocean, with the largest reaching 12 meters in length and weighing up to 20 tons.

Ad Dimaniyat islands 3 - Places to visit in Oman.
The Ad Dimaniyat Islands is a protected area in Oman.
The Nature Reserve is located in Wilayat AlSeeb in the Muscat Governorate and lies about 18 kilometres (11 mi) off the coast of Barka (70 kilometres (43 mi) west of Muscat, the capital). It is composed of nine islands with a total area of 100 hectares (250 acres). The reserve has a rich natural heritage and is replete with several kinds of coral reefs, including some examples that are quite rare. The island is home to a large number of sea turtles that lay their eggs and nest there, as well as a magnet for migratory and indigenous birds.
To visit the islands, you must have the approval of the Ministry of MECA, which was also the case with the previous law. Stay on the island is allowed for a maximum of 5 days, and the number in the group must not exceed 12 people.
Locally, the islands go by the following names: Kharabah, Huyoot, Al Jabal Al Kabeer (Um As Sakan). The latter is divided into two islands: Um Al Liwahah (Minaret) and Al Jawn that includes three islands.

This is a short Video on my experience of going on a Fishing and boat tour from Muscat Oman. The place from where the journey starts is called Marina Bandar, just 5 mins convenient drive from the famous Al Bustan Palace Hotel. The overall journey takes about 4 hours and it costed OMR 200 for a group of 8 passengers. This is one of the most recommended activities for any one traveling to Muscat Oman.
