Titanic Survivor Claims an Iceberg Didn't Destroy the Ship

Have you ever met a person who hasn’t ever heard the story of Titanic? Unlikely. Even if you ask a 10-year-old, they’ll tell you exactly what took down the gigantic ship. However, some survivors of the sinking legend would beg to differ. Here’s one of their stories, and it has nothing to do with an iceberg.

Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs. He’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion. And if what he said was true, something must have caused that huge explosion...

???? Btw, guys, there is a cat hidden in this video. If you can spot our furry little guy, you're much more attentive than most people! Do you accept the challenge? ????

SUMMARY:
- Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs.
- In 1912, Vaghinak published some books together with his father, a famous Armenian writer. His task was to take the books to America.
- They went to bed rather late on April 14, just like on the other nights. Shortly after midnight, something that sounded like a big explosion woke everyone up.
- None of the crew members wanted to say anything, but a few minutes later it was impossible to deny that the Titanic was going underwater.
- Vaghinak put his passport and money in a little bag and tied it around his neck. The Titanic’s bow was already underwater by that time. A lot of people in this situation wouldn’t have dared to take it to the open water.
- The water in the North Atlantic that night was just below freezing, at a scary 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 C). The young writer felt his arms and legs go numb, and he was understandably getting weaker and weaker every second.
- Then, he bumped into something. It was a lifeboat! But it was so overcrowded they pushed the young man with a paddle when he tried to stick to the boat.
- Vaghinak woke up alive on board another ship. That ship was the Carpathia, and it was en route to New York with lucky survivors on board.
- 12 days later, a woman came into the room. She turned out to be the person who saved Vaghinak. Missis Astor told the sailors that the young man was her son, and she wouldn’t let them go without him since she’d already lost her husband on the Titanic.
- Vaghinak lived a long and happy life and, as a great storyteller, he shared what happened to him many times. Interestingly, he’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion.
- It could have been a fire, and quite a lot of people actually believe that theory, saying that coal was burning in the ship’s hull.
- Another theory that explained the explosion claimed that there was a German U-boat involved in the sinking of Titanic.

107 Year Shipwreck Mystery Finally Solved

The Dive When I Found A Woman's Body | MV Thomas Aquinas Wreck | Scuba Wreck Diving Cebu Philippines

Welcome to my World.

Part 2 of a Series

After searching in other parts of the ship, we proceeded to the guideline to make our ascent since we were low on air. As we were moving along freshly broken windows, earlier broken in the morning dive by the Philippine Navy, I noticed a dark duffel bag. I don't know why I stopped and picked it up. As I was moving it out of the way, I glanced down and saw what I thought was a foot, but it looked like it was wrapped in clear plastic. As the same time, my scuba dive partner, Shelley, made a noise and indicated she saw something. I moved towards her position and noticed it was what I saw from the other side. When I talk about this victim, I describe the victim as her. It's because I clearly saw red nail polish on her toenails. I never knew who she was. I remember her being victim #73 to 76. I saw a list of names of the victims in chronological order a week or so after that dive. I never determined who she exactly was, but I hope she found her way to her family. I wanted to know initially who she was, but I was told it's better not to know. It's something I always think about when I remember that day.

Last Voyage of Empress of Ireland (1914): Part 3 of 4.

Canadian Television Documentary (2005): Part 3 of 4:
The Canadian Pacific ocean liner Empress of Ireland left Quebec on May 28th 1914 bound for Liverpool on what was to be her last voyage. 10 hours into her journey, she collided with the Norwegian coal ship Storstad and sank in the Saint Lawrence River near Rimouski. She sank in just 14 minutes with the loss of over 1,000 lives.
The Captain of the Empress was Henry Kendall who is also well known for tipping off the police by radio that he had Dr Crippen, London Cellar Murderer - 1910, and his mistress Ethel Le Neve (disguised as a boy), as passengers on his then command the Canadian Pacific liner Montrose. Kendall's tip off enabled the police to come aboard the Montrose with the pilot and arrest Crippen and Le Neve very near to the place that the Empress foundered four years later.
The documentary focuses on the question of responsibility for the disaster and comes to the conclusion that, at least as far as the navigation of the two ships is concerned, both Kendall of the Empress and Chief Officer Alfred Toftenes of the Storstad told the truth to the enquiry and it was the fog which caused a misunderstanding of intentions between the two ships. Kendall, however, does receive some censure for failing to man and later close the watertight doors aboard the Empress.

We’re referring to things that, until recently, were either at the bottom of the waterway or floating somewhere therein. In this video, we take a look at some of the interesting and alarming things that have been discovered since the waters of the Mississippi have receded. It’s a wild variety of historical artifacts, like ships from the 17th century, to household items like combs and toothbrushes. And even the bones of a long-extinct animal! It’s a fascinating effect of any major body of water that suddenly is a lot less full. We also talk about the ramifications of the drought of the Mississippi River.

Since the river acts as a major shipping route, as well as an important source of water for the region and the country, it is already having negative impacts on the local, national, and global economy. We go over some of the ways that the drought it affecting things economically, as well as environmentally. And we talk about how groups in the area are trying their best to get legislation passed that will help tackle this issue, both in terms of stopping the current drought from having too many negative impacts, and in terms of putting resources toward mitigating the potential for drought in the future.

28 Men Lost In Antarctica But What They Did to Survive Is Amazing

Sir Ernest Shackleton, a legend among British seamen and explorers, decided to build a crew for his famous Antarctic expedition. His new daring idea for a ‘hazardous journey’ gained so much attention from newspapers, that soon Sir Shackleton had a crowd of volunteers knocking at his door. He carefully selected only 27 of them. They were men of steel knowing what a huge goal they set for themselves.

With those men, Ernest Shackleton intended to reach Antarctica and cross the whole continent via the South Pole. In 1914, they left the shores of South Georgia in a ship called Endurance. This journey became one of the greatest survival stories of all time.

SUMMARY:
- Sir Ernest Shackleton didn’t really need any advertisement at all. He was already a legend among British seamen and explorers alike. In 1908, he led the British Antarctic expedition and claimed a Victoria Land plateau region of Antarctica for the crown.
- On December 5th, 1914, they left the shores of South Georgia in a ship called Endurance. Endurance was one of the best ships of its time to deal with ice.
- But still she had one crucial weakness – she was designed to crush the ice, but not to sustain being trapped in it.
- The initial hope of Sir Shackleton and his crew was that the ice wouldn’t build up around the ship too much, but by the 24th of January, it was obvious that the pressure on the ship’s hull would only get worse.
- Despite all the effort of shoveling new ice and snow building around the ship, the pressure on the ship only rose. Spring didn’t bring the much-needed relief for the Endurance. From time to time the crew would hear unpleasant crackles and shock sounds.
- On October 27th, Shackleton ordered his men to abandon ship, which was already heavily damaged. He promised the crew that he would bring them home.
- Stepping on solid ground felt like euphoria for 28 tired seamen. Their first days on land were spent refilling food supplies with wildlife; it was their first warm meal in months!
- But Sir Shackleton wasn’t one to surrender and leave his men to certain demise. Instead, he took one lifeboat and only 5 men, and went off to find help.
- On May 10th, they finally reached the shores of South Georgia. Not welcoming shores with warm beds and a good meal, be assured. It was rocky cliffs, with absolutely no place to land.
- When they reached the last ridge, they were at their limit, but suddenly, a familiar sound brought back their energy – a whistle, that’s used to wake up whalers in the morning.
- The whalers knew Shackleton, but at this point, it was pretty hard to recognize him. His bad condition alarmed the whalers, and in no time they were helping to rescue their friends on Elephant Island and they were all alive and well!
