I'm one year in building a homestead in these two stone barns at this plot of land in the mountains in Piedmont, Italy. The first months I focused on the electricity, water connection and creating comfortable space to live on the land, whilst I was waiting for the building permit.

Starting Off-Grid CABIN BUILD
And we've started! We buy the wood and start building our first tiny off-grid cabin on the land. I also show you where we want this cabin to go, which will involve flattening a section of the land.
Some facts:
- The wood purchased is treated pine 140x45 MG H4 SG8 from Mitre10.
- The two skids were made first, with two lots of wood nailed together.
- The length is 7.2m and the width will be 3m. Under the required 30sqm area in NZ.

Welcome to this incredibly unique tiny house that is built straight off of a cliff!
Dubbed Raven Rock Cabin, this is considered the ultimate remote mountain top experience. This extreme off-grid cabin is thoughtfully designed and about 100sqft in the interior. It comes with a solar generator, a fireplace, a grill, and some kitchen supplies.
The view from the cabin is out of this world and there is also a fire pit carved into the side of the cliff beneath the cabin (my favorite feature).

Finally, its time to start working on creating Hydroelectric POWER for the Off Grid Cabin. The 1st step is building a Dam to capture the water so that we can force it to the water wheel that we will be creating in upcoming episodes. Will this work? I SURE HOPE SO!!! Everything we have worked for over the past months all hinges on this idea that our cabin will be truly off grid and powered by WATER!! At best its a theory that we can create enough power to run the cabin but only time will tell. So stay tuned to see how this project comes together!

Do I recommend them? Do I hate them? While I LOVE the concept of a 3d printed tiny home for under $10,000...that rarely ends up being the final price tag on these luxury modular homes. Now, I didn't want to just throw shade at the kit home industry and beg for likes, so at the end of the video, I'll be sharing a few companies in the pre-fab space that I respect.

Overnighter in our Tiny A Frame | Off Grid Cabin
It's the end of the week and a perfect time to head down to the Tiny A Frame for an autumn overnighter with our golden retriever Ellie. The weather is just chilly enough to need the wood stove for heating, but it also creates just a wonderful ambience inside the cabin. After discovering signs of mice, I move our wood pile away from the cabin, only to discover our mouse friend had made a nest right there in the pile. Also, Rylie comes by for a bonfire, I made burritos in the kitchen and we enjoy the beautiful flicker of the candles and fireplace.
