Living The Dream Trip In NORTH SIKKIM | Gurudongmar Lake, Yumthang Valley

Living The Dream Trip In NORTH SIKKIM | Gurudongmar Lake, Yumthang Valley

North Sikkim is one of those places to visit in Sikkim that is a literal definition of beauty While some of us prefer rugged terrains, a majority of us prefers lush green hills and then there are some that marvel at the mesmerizing flowers blooming in the wild. North Sikkim is an amalgamation of all these and more.

Here we visited 2 places:
Gurudongmar Lake: The lake is placid and the surroundings are nothing less than overwhelming. It would not be an exaggeration to call it a paradise in the midst of nowhere.

Yumthang Valley: It's name brings one thing to mind, Flowers. ‘Yumthang’ means “Valley of flowers’ in the local language. It is not for nothing that this Valley is labeled like that. It is nothing short of being exotic. Whether you are a nature lover or not, you are bound to fall in love with the incredible blend of flora and fauna in this valley.

However, reaching these two, is not possible or permissible. This is because a majority of North Sikkim lies on sensitive border areas and there is a list of permits that need to be taken before and during the journey. ence, almost all trips to North Sikkim have halts so that the body is acclimatized to the changes as gradually as possible.

This is where places like Lachen and Lachung come into play. They serve as a means to an end. Lachen and Lachung are small villages where tourists are generally put up on their way up to

This small state's breathtaking natural splendour draws visitors from around the world who like the outdoors. Each of the four districts that make up Sikkim has its own distinct atmosphere, geography, vegetation, and fauna. However, North Sikkim's charm far outweighs that of the rest of the state. A trip to Sikkim cannot be considered complete without visiting the North Sikkim due to the region's abundance of stunning mountain ranges, tranquil lakes, picturesque valleys, orchards, quaint villages, and gorgeous ancient monasteries.

Distance from Gangtok to Lachen Lachung - 120 Km
Lachen Hotel - Khenkhim Regency (Rs 3300/night)
Lachung Homestay - Bayul Homestay (Rs 3000/night)

Sikkim Cinematic Travel Video. 4K | North East India | Winter - December | सिक्किम | 4K

A journey through North part of Sikkim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sikkim (/ˈsɪkɪm/; Nepali pronunciation: [ˈsikːim]) is a state in northeastern India. It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north and northeast, Bhutan in the east, Koshi Province of Nepal in the west, and West Bengal in the south. Sikkim is also close to the Siliguri Corridor, which borders Bangladesh. Sikkim is the least populous and second smallest among the Indian states. Situated in the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth.[10] Sikkim's capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 35% of the state is covered by Khangchendzonga National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.[11]

The Kingdom of Sikkim was founded by the Namgyal dynasty in the 17th century. It was ruled by Buddhist priest-kings known as the Chogyal. It became a princely state of India in 1890. Following Indian independence, Sikkim continued its protectorate status with the Union of India after 1947 and the Republic of India after 1950. It enjoyed the highest literacy rate and per capita income among Himalayan states. In 1973, anti-royalist riots took place in front of the Chogyal's palace. In 1975, after the Indian Army took over the city of Gangtok, a referendum was held that led to the dissolution of the monarchy and Sikkim joining India as its 22nd state.[12]

Modern Sikkim is a multiethnic and multilingual Indian state. The official languages of the state are English, Nepali, Sikkimese, and Lepcha.[4] Additional official languages include Gurung, Limbu, Magar, Mukhia, Newari, Rai, Sherpa and Tamang for the purpose of preservation of culture and tradition in the state.[5] English is taught in schools and used in government documents. The predominant religions are Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism. Sikkim's economy is largely dependent on agriculture and tourism. As of 2019, the state had the fifth-smallest GDP among Indian states,[13] although it is also among the fastest-growing.[14][15]

Sikkim achieved its ambition to convert its agriculture to fully organic between 2003 and 2016, and became the first state in India to achieve this distinction.[16][17][18][19] It is also among India's most environmentally conscious states, having banned plastic water bottles in all government functions and meetings and polystyrene products (throughout the state).[20][21]

We enjoyed traditional food during this journey from Lachung to Gangtok. This took us about 8 hours because we took lot of halts in between.

Normally one can do this journey in 5 hours.

Scenic view is too good you will see lot of waterfalls on the way. Since we stopped at all the waterfall when we were travelling from Gangtok to lachen so we didn’t take half for waterfall in this journey.

Sikkim : Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. Steep paths lead to hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse, which dates to the early 1700s.
