AARON CHANG COMMISSIONED FOR LOBBY MURAL
OF SAN DIEGO SKYLINE AT EMERALD PLAZA

SAN DIEGO. August 21, 2012 -- World renowned photographer Aaron Chang, a San Diego native and local celebrity for his famed photographs that have heralded the covers of prominent magazines for decades and represented iconic brands worldwide, has been commissioned to photograph the San Diego skyline for a mural in the upper lobby of the Emerald Plaza.

Emerald Plaza is an iconic building that defines the San Diego skyline. To celebrate its presence, a large scale photo installation was commissioned for the remodeled lobby, explained Erin Justin-Scott, project manager with Hurkes Harris Design Associates Inc. We selected Aaron to photograph Emerald Plaza from the San Diego Bay perspective. The vibrant colors displayed in his images were an element we wanted to include to accent our design. It brings depth to the lobby and captures the moment in time when the remodel was completed.

The 8 ft. by 20 ft. mural is photographed at such high definition, that Chang says it's possible to identify people fishing off the dock.

When I was asked to photograph the San Diego skyline, I knew the exact hue I was going for, and we were so lucky that the weather cooperated because I was able to capture it precisely, said Chang. It's such a large image, that the mural had to be photographed in segments and stitched together with meticulous detail.

Installation began Thursday, Aug. 16 and was completed Friday, Aug. 17.

The upper lobby of the Emerald Plaza, San Diego's fifth tallest building, is shared by the Westin San Diego at Emerald Plaza, which has its business center on the same level. The building is located at 400 West Broadway in San Diego.

Chang's work is also displayed throughout the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa and the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, as well as throughout prominent commercial and residential spaces worldwide.

Aaron Chang owns the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery , named San Diego's best gallery two years running. The gallery, located at 415 S. Cedros Ave. in Solana Beach, is celebrating its second anniversary this month. It provides comprehensive client guidance to the public, private collectors, interior designers and art consultants Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. It also offers a leasing program and virtual mock ups. What’s It Like to Live in San Francisco?

Known for its diversity, stunning architecture, and as the world's epicenter of technology, San Francisco is one of the California's most vibrant cities. It's a melting pot for entrepreneurship and creativity. At the same time, the city has also struggled with rising housing costs, traffic, and an increasing homeless population.

WIth all that in mind, is San Francisco still a worthwhile place to call home? I talked with people who've lived there to find out.
