Shopping at Indian THIEVES MARKET at 5AM! #BlackMarketTour

Let's explore India's most notorious market, Thieves Bazaar. But let's do it at 5am! Everything in this market is either stolen, scavenged, second-hand, or counterfeit. And it's all at discounted rates - for example, fake Nikes go for ₹1000 ($13) and a G-SHCOK watch for ₹150 ($2). Along with the bargains come pickpockets too - beware!

Part 2 Mena Bazaar: Shopping at Indian THIEVES MARKET at 7AM! Ft. @PewDiePie's 9-Year-Old-Army #BlackMarketTour

You can find many small-time thieves setting up their items for sale on the streets and lanes around Mena Bazaar, near Jama Masjid, in Old Delhi every Sunday morning from 5AM. They sell everything, including counterfeit cosmetics, jeans, clothing, USB pen drives, bags, wallets, shoes, antiques, and all sorts of bits and bobs.

I'll show you how to shop safely and bargain at a thieves market in India too.

Undercover in a Stolen Phone Market in India

I went undercover in a stolen phone market in India. This is where your phone might end up! Stolen and recycled phones end up here from pickpocket gangs and electronic recyclers for resale. Fake Chinese iPhones are sold here too. Avoid shopping at these black markets. I'll also tell you how to avoid pickpockets.

To avoid pickpockets and protect yourself from theft, here are some practical tips you can follow:

Stay vigilant and be aware of your surroundings: Pay attention to the people around you and any suspicious behaviour. Stay alert in crowded areas, public transportation, tourist spots, and busy streets.

Keep your valuables hidden: Avoid displaying valuable items such as expensive jewellery, large amounts of cash, or flashy electronic devices. Please keep them in a secure place like a money belt, hidden pocket, or bag close to your body.

Use a money belt or secure pockets: Money belts are pouches worn around your waist, under your clothes, where you can store your passport, credit cards, and cash. Alternatively, use zippered or buttoned pockets that are harder for pickpockets to access.

Minimize your wallet contents: Carry only the necessary items with you, such as one credit card and a small amount of cash. Leave unnecessary documents, extra credit cards, and valuable items safely at your accommodation.

Avoid keeping everything in one place: Distribute your cash, cards, and identification across different pockets or compartments. This way, even if you lose something, you won't lose everything.

Be cautious in crowded places: Crowded areas are prime targets for pickpockets. Maintain extra caution in markets, public transportation, bus stops, queues, and tourist attractions. Keep your hands on your belongings and be wary of distractions created by strangers.

Secure your bags and backpacks: Use bags with secure closures like zippers, and keep them closed and in front of you, especially in crowded places. Avoid leaving bags unattended or hanging them loosely on the back of chairs.

Beware of distractions and scams: Pickpockets often work in teams, with one person distracting you while another steals your belongings. Beware of people causing a commotion, asking for directions, spilling something on you, or acting overly friendly.

Stay away from overly crowded public transport: If possible, avoid overcrowded buses, trains, or subway cars where it becomes easier for pickpockets to operate. Wait for the next one or choose a less crowded time to travel.

Trust your instincts: If something feels off or suspicious, trust your gut and remove yourself from the situation. Personal safety should always be the priority.

Remember, no method is foolproof, but following these tips and staying vigilant can significantly reduce the chances of becoming a victim of pickpocketing.

Undercover in India's Most Notorious Black Market (I Got Caught!)

I got caught filming undercover in India's most notorious black market - Heera Panna Bazaar in Mumbai. The market is famous for the sale of counterfeit luxury designer goods including handbags, watches, shoes, sunglasses, perfume, and shoes. You'll find all world's biggest designer brands there like Gucci, Rolex, Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Dior, and more.

Heera Panna Shopping Centre (हीरा पन्ना शॉपिंग सेंटर) actually started out as India's first Grey Market where Indians could buy luxury and premium goods that weren't yet available in India. Everyone, including Bollywood celebrities, used to shop there. But the market has suffered due to brands opening stores in India, and online retail. Now it's transformed in a counterfeit designer goods market.

Every few years it's raided by various Indian authorities. But despite that it continues to operate openly. They even have spotters located at the doors to spot for Police or cameras - I found that out first hand and had to quickly leave!

You can find the Heera Panna Shopping Centre on Google Maps

Flora Fountain Book Market in Mumbai is a vibrant haven for book lovers and literary enthusiasts. Located near the iconic Flora Fountain, this bustling marketplace is a treasure trove of knowledge and literary delights.

The market showcases an eclectic range of books, spanning various genres and languages, catering to diverse tastes and interests. From classic literature to contemporary bestsellers, rare editions to pocket-friendly paperbacks, one can find a plethora of reading materials here.

The aroma of aged pages and the sound of rustling leaves fill the air as avid readers browse through the stalls, engrossed in their quest for literary gems.

With its lively atmosphere and rich literary heritage, Flora Fountain Book Market remains an enchanting destination for bibliophiles, fostering a love for books and fostering a sense of community among book enthusiasts in Mumbai.

Detecting counterfeit books can be challenging, but there are several signs that can indicate a book is counterfeit. Here are some main signs to look out for:

Poor print quality: Counterfeit books often have lower print quality compared to genuine ones. Look for uneven or blurry text, inconsistent font sizes, smudged ink, or faded colours.

Incorrect or missing ISBN: Every legitimate book has an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) printed on the back cover or the copyright page. Check if the ISBN matches the one provided by the publisher or author. If the ISBN is missing or doesn't match, it could be a counterfeit.

Poor binding or construction: Counterfeit books may have poorly glued or stitched bindings. Pages might be falling out, loose, or unevenly cut. Flimsy covers or irregular book sizes can also be indications of counterfeit copies.

Suspicious pricing: If a book is being sold at an unusually low price, especially when compared to the regular market price or discounts available elsewhere, it could be a sign of a counterfeit. Counterfeiters often try to lure buyers with attractive prices.

Missing or incorrect publisher information: Authentic books contain accurate and complete publisher information, including the publisher's name, logo, and location. Counterfeit books might have missing or incorrect information or use similar-sounding publisher names to deceive buyers.
Poor quality paper or materials: Genuine books typically use high-quality paper, while counterfeit copies might have thin or rough paper that feels cheap to the touch. Be suspicious if the book feels flimsy or if the materials seem inferior.

Inconsistent content or errors: Counterfeit books might contain spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, formatting issues, or missing content. These errors are less likely to be present in authentic copies, as publishers maintain strict quality control.

Lack of official markings: Genuine books often include official trademarks, holograms, embossing, or other unique markings. These features help identify the book as legitimate. Counterfeit copies may lack such markings or have poorly replicated versions.

Unreliable or unauthorized sellers: Be cautious when buying books from unfamiliar or unauthorized sellers, particularly online marketplaces or street vendors. Purchase from reputable retailers or directly from the publisher's or author's website whenever possible.

Confronting an Indian SCAMMER (How to Buy REAL Cashmere)

I got sick of seeing people being scammed by scammers selling fake cashmere and pashminas in India so I went and got scammed to show you how to avoid it and how you can buy real cashmere! Then watch the scammer lie through his teeth that what he's selling is 100% pure cashmere from Keralan monkeys - unbelievable.

Cashmere or Kashmir is the most luxurious wool in the world. It's produced in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India, hence the name. It comes from the neck region of cashmere goats who only shed once a year. It's known for being extremely thin yet warm. It's the most expensive type of wool in the world. But most small stores selling garments and handicrafts will sell you cheap silk or viscose at insane prices. They'll lie to you and tell you it's 100% pure cashmere or pashmina.

There are a few ways you can tell real cashmere. Firstly it looks like animal hair and not perfectly produced strands of wool. It's super light and warm compared to the fake products. And it always has a matt finish, it's never shiny like silk. Sometimes it is mixed with silk, but the label will tell you that if it's a cashmere silk blend.

At the end of the video, I go to confront the scammer and show you how to get a refund in India! It's no easy feat! They HATE giving refunds.

Buying $1 Black Market VPN from the Streets! What Could Go Wrong?

I bought a $1 VPN at a black market in Dubai to show you why you should not do this! The UAE blocks internet calling, so around 40% of people use Virtual Private Network (VPN) software to unblock WhatsApp & Facetime calling. But beware, do not buy VPNs from the street!

When buying a VPN, you're trusting your internet activity with that company. You're trusting they have good security, that they aren't harvesting your data, that they aren't logging your activity, and you don't get any of that with free or black market VPNs. Look for a VPN service that has been independently audited to verify their security claims.

Pakistani Police Bust Me... Eating Fish! (A Warning for Tourists)

Can't a man just vlog and eat fish in peace in Pakistan? While eating in the Sikh holy city of Nankana Sahib, an unidentified security service agent finds me in a restaurant and reports me to the local Police station. Then a Punjab police officer sits next to me and forces me to ride back to my hotel with him.

According to that Punjab police officer, the protection of foreign tourists is their responsibility. However, I don't think there's any rule like that in Nankana Sahib. The only places that require you to travel with a security guard in Pakistan are, as far as I know, southern Punjab (below Multan) and Balochistan.

If you're going to Nankana Sahib, read my travel guide

India Has a SCAM ISLAND! ????

An island of scammers? Yes! Sitting in the outskirts of Chilika Lake in Odisha, India's largest saltwater lake, is a small island that scammers use to sell fake pearls and gemstones to tourists.

These scammers open up oysters, fill them with pearls, moonstones, and other gems, then glue them shut and try to fool you into believing you've struck it lucky when they open them in front of you. It's all an elaborate scam.

Never buy pearls or gemstones from people on the street (or random islands) in India. They're going to overcharge you and you'll be lucky if the jewels are real. Always buy from reputable jewellery stores in India.

Inside Pakistan's Smugglers' Market (near Afghanistan)

I go inside a notorious smugglers' market famous for black market goods like stolen U.S. Army and NATO gear from Afghanistan. This is Karkhano Market in the Pakistani border city of Peshawar in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The market is located on the Grand Trunk Road and is at the gateway to the Khyber Pass, which leads to Afghanistan.

Want more from this market? Watch me trying Afghanistan's national food there

The smuggled goods and drugs at this market primarily come from Afghanistan.

Due to the war in Afghanistan finishing and the U.S. Army leaving, the market has dried up of guns, ammo, night-vision goggles, flak jackets, and all other stolen American goods. Market vendors are now trying to find new businesses to fill this gap.

If you're a foreigner going to this market, I'd suggest taking a Pashto or Urdu-speaking friend as barely anyone speaks English there. It's also quite dangerous as the surrounding area is a den for drug addicts.

Why Foreigners Don't Trust Indians in India (Tourist Trap Scam)

Kerala's famous Chinese Fishing Nets are the site for a popular sympathy scam that's taking advantage of foreigners. The fishermen pretend to be friendly locals and invite you onto their fishing nets, only to ask you for a donation!

This is precisely why a lot of foreigners are worried about meeting Indians on the street in India. They've had too many bad experiences with scammers who they thought were friendly locals. Scammers in India see foreigners as walking ATMs that they can manipulate into giving a lot of money.

Travel safely and confidently in India with my Quick-Start Safety Guide at

In some cases of this fishing net scam, the fisherman will take your photo and then not give your camera back until you pay them enough money. Many foreigners have been caught up by this scam.

It's a misconception that scams aren't taking place in South India. In most cases, local Indians have no idea these scams exist because they don't frequent their city's tourist attractions and aren't targeted by scammers.

The REAL Streets of Shantaram

The Shantaram TV show wasn't filmed in India! So I went to Mumbai to show you the actual locations from Gregory David Robert's book Shantaram. How are you enjoying the Shantaram TV show?

If you've read the book, you're also going to notice that the location names in the TV show have been changed. The locations in the book are real places where the author Gregory David Roberts spent time. I highly recommend you read the Shantaram novel if you enjoyed the TV show.

The original intention was to shoot Shantaram in its settings of Australia and India. In late 2019, the production moved to Bhopal, which was to be used for scenes set in Mumbai. Here they made use of areas that had changed little since the 1980s, including the famous Chowk Bazar, and also constructed a set to depict the shantytown where Lin Ford first settled in the city. The arrival of Covid suspended filming in February 2020, but even before this, the production was plagued with difficulties, with Hunnam particularly badly affected:

“Filming in India, I really learnt what it means to be fighting for your life for about five weeks,” he told Foxtel News. “I got a bacterial stomach thing and a significant lung infection and conjunctivitis in both eyes. Then I got an ear infection, then I got strep throat, then I got bitten by a mosquito and got dengue fever. I’m just glad that I pulled through.” from Where was Shantaram filmed? by CN Traveller

Shopping for Counterfeit Books in India, BEST PRICE? #BlackMarketTour

It doesn't take us long to find counterfeit books at the Daryaganj Market in Delhi, India and at bargain prices you won't believe! Daryaganj isn't really a Black Market, there are second-hand books there too, but there certainly isn't brand new top sellers there. All the new top sellers are counterfeit.

We go around the market and talk to a number of sellers to get the best price so you know how to much you should be paying if you're buying counterfeit books. Note that authors are not paid from counterfeit copies.

Real best-selling books go for around ₹500 - ₹1000 in India at legitimate book retailers like Crosswords. Much much higher than their counterfeit counterparts. But for the average Indian, the price of legitimate books is simply too expensive and they cannot afford them - hence the large illegitimate market for counterfeit books at black markets across India.

Exploring Asia's Largest Electronics Market #NehruPlace

We explore the computer shops and supercheap food of Nehru Place after going undercover to see all the counterfeit goods being sold. Nehru Place Computer Market is touted as Asia's largest electronics market... I'm not sure exactly how true that is though, wouldn't Shenzhen be bigger?

Apart from checking out the back lanes and what's available at the legitimate computer stores in Nehru Place, I'll also show the incredibly cheap food there! 20rs ($0.26) for Paratha and 40rs for an entire plate of Indian food!
