Shipbreakers in Gadani beach, Pakistan

This is amazing, everybody knows the shipbreaking yard in Alang, India but there is also one in Gaddani or Gadani beach in Pakistan. The Gadani ship-breaking yard is a centre for the breaking up of derelict ocean-going vessels for scrap. The yard is located in Gadani, Pakistan, about 50 kilometres northwest of Karachi.

This is a compilation from the documentary Workingman's Death, see

In the 1980s,the Gadani yard was described as the largest ship-breaking yard in the world, with more than 30,000 direct employees. However, competition from newer facilities in India and Bangladesh resulted in a significant reduction in output, with the Gadani yard producing less than one fifth of the scrap it produced twenty years ago. A reduction in taxes on scrap metal led to a modest resurgence at the Yard, which now employs around 6,000 workers.

In this clip we see in about 7 minutes how a ship is placed on the beach and breaking apart.

Breaking Big!: The Mighty MONT (scrapping the world's largest ship)

In 2010, Peter Knego went to India to rescue artwork and fittings from the WINNER 5, the former Italian liner AUSONIA of 1957. Next to the ship Knego went to visit was the MONT, the partially demolished supertanker that was the longest and largest ship ever built. Knego shares some extremely rare footage he shot on the beach and from the decks of the WINNER 5 as he recaps this fascinating ship's history. The Ship Breaking Yards of CHITTAGONG, BANGLADESH

In this vlog I visited the famous ship breaking yards of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Chittagong is known in the shipping industry as the place where ships go to die, but it's also made the news in recent years because of the extremely dangerous working conditions that the men working in the yards are often forced to endure.

The Scrapping Run

Filmed on board CANBERRA during her very last weeks, this video gives a glimpse of the ship and her skeleton crew with the final sailing from Southampton on 10th October 1997, up to her beaching at the shipbreakers in Pakistan.

75 000 h.p. The Biggest Nuclear Icebreaker

For licensing and collabs:
Our magic LUTs and presets for color grading:

This video was shot in the Arctic Ocean in March 2018. For 7 days our crew passed through the Barents Sea to Karsky around the Novaya Zemlya archipelago on the nuclear icebreaker Yamal - we saw the northern lights and polar bears, watched the ships stuck in the ice being towed, and were very cold.

In the video you can see two Russian icebreakers - “50 Years of Victory” and “Yamal” with a capacity of 75,000 horsepower and a distinctive shark mouth, which appeared on it in 1994 during one of the children's humanitarian programs. According to legend, someone suggested drawing a smiling shark mouth on the nose to make it more fun for children. At present, Russia has the only nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet in the world. They are used to provide wiring ships in the ices of the Northern Sea Route in the freezing ports of the Russian Federation, research expeditions, rescue operations and tourist cruises.

In addition to the extreme weather conditions, the shooting was complicated by the fact that the icebreaker was always in motion. And if the drone was flying over the radar tower, the recording file was damaged.

Bangladesh ship breakers

Bangladesh Ship breaking yard, there were miles and miles long, We noticed no Life vests and only a few had foot protection. They even got into the water and swam around our tow chains.

Gadani Ship Breaking Yard Pakistan | #shipbreaking

The Gadani Ship Breaking Yard is a large ship-breaking yard located in Gadani, Pakistan. It is one of the largest ship-breaking yards in the world and is known for its controversial and often dangerous practices.

The yard is located on a 10-kilometer stretch of beach along the Arabian Sea, and it employs thousands of workers who dismantle decommissioned ships by hand. These workers use simple tools like hammers and blowtorches to cut up the ships into smaller pieces, which are then sold for scrap.

The ship-breaking process at Gadani is known to be extremely hazardous, both for the workers and the environment. The workers are often exposed to toxic chemicals and hazardous materials, and accidents are not uncommon. In fact, the yard has been the site of several major accidents over the years, including explosions and fires that have resulted in numerous deaths.

Despite these risks, the ship-breaking industry in Gadani continues to thrive, largely because of the demand for cheap steel and other materials in developing countries. The industry has been criticized for its lack of regulation and oversight, and many workers at the yard are not provided with adequate safety equipment or training.

Efforts have been made to improve safety and environmental standards at the Gadani Ship Breaking Yard, but progress has been slow. Many workers continue to work under dangerous conditions, and the yard remains a controversial and potentially hazardous place.
