The 1000-foot Sand Dunes Of The Deadly Sahara Desert

Subscribe to see more full documentaries every week:

The Sahara is the biggest desert on earth. It takes its name from the Arab word for emptiness. In the dead heart of that emptiness there's a place called the Tenere. The Tenere takes its name from the Tuareg word for nothing. A nothing the size of France in the middle of an emptiness the size of the United States. It's no wonder the locals call this place The Land Of Fear”. David Adams retraces the trade routes of the people who call this stove-hot corner of the planet home.

From DESERT to GREEN: Witnessing the Sahara's Incredible Farming Revolution

Subscribe @mindcanny

GREENING THE SAHARA DESERT:
Imagine a colossal desert, stretching over almost all of northern Africa, known as the Sahara – the biggest desert on Earth, spanning around 3,000 miles! It's a thrilling expanse bordered by the mighty Atlantic Ocean in the west, the majestic Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea in the north, the mesmerizing Red Sea in the east, and, interestingly, by the Sahara itself in the south.

But, there's a perilous zone known as the Sahel, lying between the Sahara and the lush savannas to the south. In this semi-arid region, the Sahara's relentless march poses a grave danger due to poor land management, overgrazing, and recurring droughts. The land is rapidly turning into a desert, triggering a chain of daunting problems – hunger, poverty, joblessness, mass migration, conflicts, and even an increase in severe weather events.

The battle to preserve this fragile land is becoming a gripping struggle to save lives and ecosystems alike!

Enter the mysterious world of Niger, a country in the heart of the African Sahara, where an incredible agricultural revolution is unfolding. Against all odds, vast desert lands are being transformed into lush farmlands, a sight that will send shivers down your spine.

With only a meager 6.5 inches of rainfall each year, Niger faces an uphill battle to grow crops in the unforgiving Sahel region. The harsh reality of poor soil, unpredictable rain, and relentless droughts has haunted the farmers for decades. The loss of precious trees in the past due to droughts, expanding croplands, and human pressures made matters even worse. Imagine, freshly planted crops being swallowed by relentless wind erosion, driving hope to the brink of extinction.

But fear not, for hope has emerged from the shadows. Niger's miraculous accomplishment involves restoring a staggering 5 million hectares of land, nurturing over 200 million trees in the process. And this is no ordinary feat, as more than 2.5 million people now reap the rewards of improved land usage.

Prepare to be amazed as we take you on a thrilling journey, unraveling the secrets behind Niger's success. We will explore the awe-inspiring transformation of barren deserts into thriving farmlands, unveiling the methods and motives driving this extraordinary change. Stay tuned until the very end to uncover the enchanting tale of Niger's desert metamorphosis. You won't want to miss a single moment of this exhilarating story!

Regenerative Agriculture is leading the way with a technique called Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration or FMNR
FMNR was pioneered in the 1980s by Tony Rinaudo and Australian Agronomist who is widely known as the forest maker.

Tahiti: Where Land And Sea Live In Harmony | TRACKS

An epic human adventure, this documentary introduces us to the artisans who cultivate, transform, and work with Tiaré flowers and black pearls. It's an opportunity to take a different look at these icons of Tahitian culture of which the public at large has not yet discovered all the secrets.

Beyond the picture-postcard setting, behind the strings of flowers and pearl jewellery, the Tiaré flower and black pearls are victims of pollution and human greed. Specialists are worried by their decrease in productivity.

But that's without taking into account the amazing energy of those who protect them, who endlessly manage to renew their image, diversify what's on offer, and maintain the cleanest environment possible in order to ensure the development of these veritable treasures of Polynesian heritage.
