The “Tourist Bus” conducted the first experimental trip in Madinah on Tuesday. A company specialized in tourism will be operating the buses on behalf of the Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Development Authority.
Fahad Al-Bayti, public relations officer of the authority, said the pilot trip, which was witnessed by media representatives, businessmen and women, was in preparation for the official launch of the project in coming days. He said the participants in the tour expressed admiration for the arrangements and equipment used.
The double-decker buses are disabled friendly so that people with special needs can also benefit from the unique project. The trip, which starts from the Prophet’s Mosque, took the visitors to 11 sites in Madinah, including the historical and archaeological landmarks such as Al-Baqea Cemetery, Mount Ohud, the Qablatin Mosque, Sultanah Road and commercial centers.
Al-Bayti pointed that special consideration was given while fixing the price of the tickets to make them accessible to everyone. With emphasis placed on visitors coming from different parts of the world, the tours offer guides who speak eight languages.
The project also includes five buses in the first stage, which will increase to 15 later. The service will run for 14 hours daily.

Medina as Non Muslim - Solo Travel in Saudi Arabia المدينة المنورة المملكة العربية السعودية أجنبي
Medina is the second holiest city in Islam after Mecca, and one of the most visited places in Saudi Arabia. As a non Muslim, it was unsure whether I could travel to the city center, reading conflicting reports beforehand. I decided to check for myself, and found that I was allowed to visit everywhere, except inside the main mosque, the Al Masjid an Nawabi.
Medina is known as the City of the Prophet, and considered the second holiest site in Islam after Mecca. This is where Islam’s main Prophet, Muhammad, lived and was eventually laid to rest. All able Muslims are supposed to make the journey to Medina and Mecca once in their life.

Saudi Arabia has long been off limits to foreign tourists and travelers. Since a few months, however, it’s possible to visit the country on a tourist visa. I made use of this opportunity and traveled solo to Saudi Arabia for 2 weeks, including Riyadh, the Edge of the World, Medina, Al Ula, Umluj, Jeddah and the Red Sea coast.
Saudi Arabia is mostly known in the ‘Western world’ for its petroleum export, the birthplace of the religion of Islam, and unfortunately also poor human rights record. But as I discover there is much more to this massive country than first meets the eye. In these series I hope to give a glimpse into what was once an almost ‘forbidden place’ for independent travelers, and is now open for visitors from around the world.

Before my trip to Saudi Arabia, I had no idea that I was allowed to visit Medina. It’s the 2nd holiest city in Islam and I always assumed that it was off-limits to non-Muslims (similar to Mecca) — but I was wrong! Anybody is allowed to visit Medina (even Jews!), they just can’t venture inside the gates of the Prophet’s Mosque.
I went to Medina with my local friend, Abdullah, the same guy who took me on a virtual tour of Mecca. And I really enjoyed my time in the city. There is this overwhelming spirit in the air, something similar to Jerusalem or Varanasi, and it’s something I will never forget!

The service operates in 160 cities across the world and was introduced in Madina this year to offer pilgrims and visitors a unique tour of the city’s landmarks.
Tickets cost SR80 and are valid for 24 hours after purchase. Buses allow pilgrims to hop on and hop off along fixed routes with City Sightseeing buses frequenting designated stops every 30 minutes.
The initiative is being supervised by the Madina Development Authority and run by Jawla. There are 11 stops and visitors are able to listen to historical and cultural information along the route in eight languages that include Arabic, English, French, Turkish, Urdu, Persian, Malaysian and Indonesian.
The buses are double-decker buses and able to carry 63 passengers at any one time. Operators say that the buses can carry a total of 675,000 pilgrims a year with plans to increase this capacity to 1.35 million.
The 11 sights that the buses stop at include: the Holy Mosque, Al-Baqi, Al-Manakha Open Area, Al-Salam Gate, Uhad Mosque, Al-Nour Mall, Sultana Shopping Street, Al-Qiblatain Mosque, Seven Mosques near the location of the Battle of the Trench, Quba Mosque and Hijaz Railway Station.
“The aim is to increase the number of stops to 33,” said Taha Al-Jwaiber, Operations Controller at the City Sightseeing Madinah. “We are now increasing awareness about the project. At the same time, we are working on adding more stops to the list to turn Madinah into a tourist destination that has much to offer.”

Al Noor Mall is the most biggest and popular Shopping Mall in Madina. With its modern interior, the Mall follows western safety standards. Kids can enjoy several activities all year round.

2. Wadi Al Jinn ⛰️:
It's the mysterious Valley in Madina and it's believed there used to be the presence of Jinn. Out of curiosity, tourists have gone in their cars, switched off their ignition, and put their cars in neutral mode. They found their cars moving in an upward direction.
Probably because of the Geographic location of the valley.

3. Al Ossia Bird Santuary????
Kids will love this place as you can actually feed all the several varieties of birds with ur hands. The feed is 25SAR /person. Artificial rain is also one of the amazing things that you can find here.

4. Dar Al Madinah Musuem
For a deep understanding of Madinah's History , Dar Al Madinah Musuem is the best place to see in Madinah . The legendary stories of the city are showcased through various sculptures and various collections.

5. Dino Park Madina ????????
It's the most wonderful place that you can visit with your kids. It's a huge garden with Artificial Dinosaurs. The fee is 25 SAR / person
