Sardinia Italy is one of the most beautiful places in the world! As we walked along the coastline of Sardinia, the smell of fresh bougainvillea permeated the air as though we had entered a secret serene garden. The sun shined down onto the crystal clear cerulean Sea, illuminating the waters and creating a sparkle effect, dancing in unison on the surface. This was not the Italy we knew before. This was an entirely new world to explore. This was Sardinia.
Just south of Corsica France, Sardinia’s coast had been beckoning us to visit for years, as though it knew we would fall in love with this Mediterranean island lifetimes before stepping onto it. The northeastern coastline of Sardinia, known as the Costa Smeralda, is notorious as the playground for sailing and the rich & famous. Yachts flood the glamorous town of Porto Cervo in the summer months and create an alternate utopian universe for Europe’s bourgeois to rub shoulders. While the Costa Smeralda may be known as the summer playground for the elite, there is so much more that it offers.

The Islands and the Cala di Volpe Luxury Hotel are famously portrayed in a 007 James Bond Movie (Featuring the famous scene of a Lotus Esprit emerging from the sea, now owned by Elon Musk). Costa Smeralda was also the location where Lady Diana was photographed with her lover Dodi Al Fayed. These were the last, happy, joyful images of Lady D.

Numerous nuraghi, strange stone remains dating back to the Bronze Age and resembling beehives, are scattered throughout the area's harsh environment. Su Nuraxi in Barumini is one of the biggest and oldest nuraghi and dates back to 1500 B.C.

We spent 3 days on the northern part of Sardinia, Italy. This is the Second Largest island in the Mediterranean and is kn own for its beautiful beaches. Courtney and I rented a boat and explored all the small islands north of Sardinia and below Corsica, France. These were definitely the clearest blue waters we have found in the Mediterranean and it was incredible to have these places basically all to ourselves. We packed in as much as we could see during our 3 day trip but there is so much more of Sardinia to see.
