10 Best Places to Visit in Chile - Travel Video

Check out all the places seen in this video:

Squeezed between the Andes and the Pacific, Chile is sometimes called the longest country in the world. It is never more than 180 km wide, but its coastline extends over 4,300 km. It’s unusual long shape has given it a varied climate with one of the world’s driest desert in the north, while its southern tip is home to cold-weather creatures like penguins. Chile is also one of the closest nations, along with Argentina and New Zealand, to Antarctica. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Chile:

WHY I LOVE SANTIAGO, CHILE ????????

**I made this video 2.5 years ago, but only shared it to Facebook...so I wanted to post it for all you guys here on YouTube! Please excuse the fast paced editing and shaky camera -- I was a newbie back then**

I'm not kidding when I say that SANTIAGO, CHILE is one of the most underrated cities in South America!! The last 4 days here have been absolutely perfect!

Santiago often gets overlooked by other South American cities like Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and even Lima -- but don't let that fool you, because Santiago truly has it all, and it surely caught me by surprise.

Chile, as a whole, is the longest country in the world (4,300 km) from North to South, and it has a lot to offer (especially for all you nature lovers). From the Atacama desert in the North, to the fjords in the South and the spectacular landscapes of Patagonia in between.

Also, did you know that Chile has the most stable economy and government in all of Latin America? I could certainly notice this by the hustle and bustle on the streets, where so many people here have small businesses and are hustling to make an extra buck (as opposed to begging or making money in illegal ways). Pretty impressive stuff, if you ask me.

I'm looking forward to exploring more of Chile over the coming days (heading to Valparaíso tomorrow!)

What's your favorite city in South America? Let me know - I am curious what you all think!

This is Santiago, Chile ???????? Safe? Beautiful? Must Visit? What to do in the city. Travel Guide

We spent a full day checking out some of major sights to try to find the best things to in Santiago de Chile.

We started out the day with a run and headed to the beautiful Parque Bicentario where we saw some beautiful views of the city and mountains. We ran around the park for awhile to see what it had to offer and came across some flamingos.

We picked up the video later in the day in the centre of town in the Plaza de Armas, which is the main square in Santiago. From here we picked up our Hop on Hop off tickets from Turistik Chile and immediate hopped on a bus!

To book your Santiago Hop on Hop off ticket visit here (we had the “plus” ticket):

The Hop on Hop off bus took us throughout a large part of the city where we got to see many of the important sites and also listen to an audio guide.

We got off at the tallest building in Latin America called the Costanera Centre (Gran Torre). Here we bought tickets to the observation deck called Sky Costanera. The observatory is this highest in Latin America and offers amazing views of the city and Andes Mountains.

After this we walked to the cable car to make our way up Cerro San Cristobal, a park on a hill in the middle of the city. The tickets to the cable car were included in our Hop on Hop off ticket and also included the funicular down the hill.

Up at the top of Cerro San Cristobal you’ll find beautiful views of the city. You’ll also find a church as well as a statue of the Virgin Mary which you can see from the ground in most of the city.

Santiago De Chile Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Santiago de Chile.
Santiago De Chile, the capital of Chile, is dignified, modest and European-looking and also lively, modern and full of Latin temperament, a city that has many green areas and a history that covers five hundred years. The Plaza De Armas is the heart of the city and the historic centre of colonial Santiago that contains the city’s most important buildings. The Museo Histórico Nacional is located in the Palacio Real Audiencia. It contains around twelve thousand exhibits that feature Chile’s history from pre-Columbian times right up to the twentieth century. Strikingly dressed in black and white uniforms and brown caps, the soldiers of the guard march across the Plaza De La Constitution towards the La Moneda Palace, an elongated, strictly classical building whose white façade looks almost kitsch with the blue sky as its backdrop. Following restoration work, General Augusto Pinochet moved in and it has been the seat of government ever since. Dictatorship transformed into democracy! The Parque Forestal is situated on the northern edge of the city centre along the Rio Mapocho, a park complex with various varieties of tree. Amid all the green is the German Fountain with, at its centre, a ship with heroic figures and huge birds of prey. Today, the city is looking good and although with colonial roots, Santiago De Chile is now open-minded, modern and cosmopolitan.

People of Chile

There must be few countries in the world which are so conditioned by their territory as Chile. Its awesome geography makes it both the longest and narrowest country on the planet; a land of simple, warm, hardworking and creative people, who live enveloped between the mountains and the sea. Its people and its geography, two of Chile's greatest assets.

20 Things to do in Santiago, Chile City Guide | Top Attractions Travel Guide Travel Video Transcript:

Santa Lucia is an urban park smack dab in the middle of Santiago and it’s a popular hangout in the afternoons and weekends. The hike is a pleasant one with lots to see, including fountains, spiralling staircases, defensive forts, sprawling gardens, and cool lookout points.

Lastarria is a neighbourhood located just east of Santa Lucia hill and it was once the bohemian hub of the city.Today it is very popular with tourists as it offers an outdoors flea market, an international mix of cafes and restaurants, & live music.

For panoramic views of the city, ride the funicular to the top of San Cristobal Hill.

Plaza de Armas is the heart of Santiago’s historic centre. There are lots of benches under the cover of palm trees, and the place is buzzing with activity. The Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the historic centre of Santiago overlooking the square. The construction you see today dates back to the year 1800, since previous cathedrals were destroyed in earthquakes.

Santiago’s Central Market is the place to come for the freshest food. You'll find rows of restaurants serving up everything from grilled fish to ceviche. We really like our ceviche, so we found a place serving exactly that.

Parque Forestal is a park that forms a long stretch of greenery along the Mapocho River. It’s a nice green escape in the middle of the city.

Palacio de la Moneda is the seat of the President of the Republic of Chile. This is where you can come to watch the changing of the guard. Just underneath Palacio de La Moneda, you’ll find Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda, which is a cultural centre featuring exhibitions, design shops, and a small selection of cafes.

Bellavista is a cultural hub with lots of theatres, cinemas, cafes, museums, and restaurants. The most famed home in the neighbourhood is La Chascona, the home of the famed Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.

And that's a wrap for the Chilean capital! We hope you enjoyed this Santiago travel guide and that it gave you a few ideas of things to do, places to visit, and Chilean dishes to try in the city.

Chilean Food is AMAZING | Trying food in Chile

Chilean food was something completely new to us. But since we tried some of the food in Chile, it's quickly become one of our favorite cuisines. Chilean foods we tried include completos, empanadas, pastel de choclo, pastel de jaiba and humitas. Our Chilean food tour started in Santiago and continued in the town of Pomaire.

And, of course, a special thanks to Jorge and Katlyn for showing us all this delicious Chilean food! If you want to see more of them you can find them on Instagram:

Chile (South-America) Vacation Travel Video Guide

✱ 17.723 Hotels in Chile - Lowest Price Guarantee ►

Travel video about destination Chile.
Chile was given its name by the Incas who respectfully called it Chili, ‘the country in the south’. Santiago De Chile, the capital of Chile, is dignified, modest and European-looking and also lively, modern and full of Latin temperament. The Plaza De Armas is the heart of the city and the historic centre of colonial Santiago that contains the city’s most important buildings. The city of Valparaiso or, Paradise Valley, is around a hundred and twenty kilometres from the capital of Santiago De Chile on the Pacific coast. The city’s development was closely connected with its harbour which brought it wealth and power. Since the middle of the nineteenth century, escalators have rattled up and down the steep hills of the harbour city with forty five hills flanking the bay, each of them covered with a number of tiny wooden huts. Only a short journey on a gravel road and the Atacama Desert begins. At its centre it is the driest desert in the world where the forces of nature have turned it into an extraordinary landscape. The Atacama extends between the Pacific Ocean and the Cordilleras, an area of stone and sand that is perforated only by various frequently dried out salt lakes. For those ships that sailed around Cape Horn, Ancud represented a safe harbour on the journey north in which they could rest after sailing the stormy waters of the South Pacific. At a time when whales and seals were hunted in the Antarctic, Ancud served as a supply station along the route to the southern Polar sea. From the Atacama Desert in the north to as far as the stormy Tierra Del Fuego in the south, Chile is a country rich in contrast. Volcanoes, arid deserts, salt lakes, lively geysers, sandstone mountains and a cosmopolitan city. All of this is to be found in Chile, a country at the end of the world!

LifeTrack - A Good City To Live In (Santiago, Chile)

After three months we started to feel a bit tired in Santiago because of the way of living we had in the past weeks, and this feeling might have had something to do with the particular relation we had with the city. Our impression of Santiago is that this is an incredible city once you understand it and live in it, but this is not easy to fully understand it when you visit it just for a few days.
