San Diego Food Tour - MASSIVE BURGERS and CRAZY TOSTADAS in California, USA!

Thank you to my sister Pam and brother in law Derek for joining me on this food tour of San Diego, California! And during the video I said Oceanside once, but I meant *Ocean Beach. We were on a family vacation in California, but on one day, we decided to go on an ultimate San Diego California food tour. It was a lot of fun, and you’ll find all the information of all the places we ate below:
Breakfast at Northside Shack - We started off in the morning, and first headed to Northside Shack to try their highly rated açaí bowl. It’s a laid back kind of spot, and I ordered the $11 bowl which was the large size. The acai is frozen into a sorget, and then they layered it with granola, about 12 different kinds of fruits, and nuts and seeds. It was delicious and refreshing, great way to begin this food tour.
Hodad's - Probably one of the most legendary of all restaurants in San Diego, California is Hodad’s serving massive double bacon cheeseburgers, and classic American food. The original location is located in Ocean Beach, and it has so much character, plastered with graffiti and stickers. Derek and I each ordered the double bacon cheeseburger, which is a monster burger. It takes some strategy to eat, but it was well worth it. It’s a delicious burger, and I also really enjoyed the onion rings. Price - $14.25
Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill - Pam and Derek had been here before and they knew it was good, so it was a restaurant in San Diego that I was looking forward to trying. You stand in line, order at the counter, and then find a seat. They offer fresh fish of the day, everything very fresh. We started with some oysters and the main dish, which was the best dish of the meal for me was the blackened black seabass. Delicious food, one of the best restaurants I ate at in San Diego. Total price - $65.23
Communal Coffee - Next we stopped to have a quick avocado toast and coffee. It was my first avocado toast at a restaurant, and although it was a little dainty, it was pretty awesomely delicious, a real treat. Price - $26.02 for everything (I think 3 coffees and avocado)
Nine Seas Seafood - Home of the Crazy Tostada, this seafood food truck is a gem of Mexican seafood. We ordered a few ceviches, not knowing how enormous the crazy tostadas were. They were huge, and packed with just about “everything from the sea.” But not only were the crazy tostates huge and crazy, but they were delicious, especially loaded with salsa. Total price - $24.75 for everything
And that completes this San Diego food tour. It was an amazing day and the food was delicious!

This week, we went on a quest to discover the best burgers in San Diego, California. I asked all of you on Instagram what are the best burgers in San Diego, and your recommendations fueled our adventure. From iconic locations such as Hodad's and The Balboa to new burger joints like Hayes Burgers and Swagyu, we left no bun left unturned.
The best burgers in San Diego was inspired from the best birria tacos in San Diego video, so if you haven't seen that one, be sure to watch that next!
In order of appearance, here are the 5 best burgers in San Diego locations we visited:
Hodad's in Ocean Beach: Famous for their bacon cheeseburgers, Hodad's is a San Diego staple with multiple locations, including one now in Petco Park, the San Diego Padres Stadium downtown.
Swagyu Chop Shop & Burger in Pacific Beach: A new player in the best burgers in San Diego scene as they focus on high quality Wagyu beef. They have multiple locations across the country and now ship steaks and burgers across the country as well. They also do tasting menus and now serve brunch at this Pacific Beach location.
The Friendly in North Park: A unique location that says Pizza and more on their store sign in North Park, but the highlight here is most definitely the dirt flattop burger that consists of two patties, american cheese, caramelized onions, and a special garlic mayo.
The Balboa in Bankers Hill: Another San Diego staple that is located right across from Balboa Park, just north of downtown San Diego. A great little dive bar that serves up perfectly cooked burgers.
Hayes Burgers in Barrio Logan: A new kid on the block in the cultural neighborhood of Barrio Logan, serving up delicious smash burgers with homemade fries and beers. Hayes Burgers is definitely worth the trip for one of the best burgers in San Diego.

Birrieria San Marcos has some of the best tacos in Los Angeles thanks to their specialty: birria tacos. These tacos are bathed in broth from a stew, consomme, and the meat is slow cooked in it for hours. The tacos are then served crispy off the grill with a side of that same stew like a Mexican French Dip! They are some of the most flavorful tacos in LA, and Birrieria San Marcos has become popular on Instagram. We went to see what these tacos are all about and were seriously impressed.

BEST SEAFOOD IN SAN DIEGO? | Mitch's Seafood | Point Loma San Diego Food Tour
Whether you're a San Diego foodie or a visitor looking for some of the best seafood in San Diego, look no further than Mitch's Seafood. We found this little spot thanks to Google and some awesome five star reviews.
It's located at Fisherman's Landing in the Shelter Island area of Point Loma San Diego.
There isn't a whole lot of outdoor seating and this place is incredibly popular so I'd highly recommend ordering ahead and picking up.
We ordered the Seafood Platter, Crab Cake Sandwich, and Fish & Chips. The crab cakes and fish were phenomenal, but the fries could use some help.
The fries aren't likely why you're going to Mitch's, though, and it's a definite win for quality of the seafood. Amazing spot and well worth your consideration for San Diego Eats if you're visiting SeaWorld, Cabrillo National Monument, or Point Loma.

DETAILED Food Guide to San Diego, California
Here is a detailed food guide to San Diego, California. Joined with my cousin Lauren, we head out to San Diego to not only explore the city from its sights including the USS Midway, Balboa Park, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, and Cabrillo National Monument but also check out some great food spots. San Diego is home to many great food spots from Mexican food to seafood (including fish tacos), burgers, and breakfast food.
1. Carnitas' Snack Shack - Located in downtown San Diego near the USS Midway Museum, the Carnitas' Snack Shack is the place to go for some tasty carnitas. Items include carnitas tacos, BBQ carnitas, and even fries coated with carnitas and queso which is what I enjoyed.
2. Hodad's - Located in Ocean Beach, Hodad's is a legendary spot for great burgers. We head inside to see what the fuss is all about with their tasty burgers.
3. Clayton's Coffee Shop - Located in Coronado, Clayton's Coffee Shop is a great spot for some amazing breakfast (you can also get food at other times of the day too). I head there to enjoy some delicious pancakes with some blueberries.
4. Cannonball - Located along the boardwalk at Mission Beach, Cannonball is a great rooftop bar for a drink, tasty sushi, and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. There's nothing better than tasty sushi while looking out at the beach!
5. Oscar's Mexican Seafood - We head to Oscar's Mexican Seafood at the Pacific Beach location to try some of their legendary fish tacos. I get a couple of their smoked fish tacos as well as a grilled octopus taco.
6. Jake's Del Mar - Located in Del Mar, Jake's is a great spot for a great assortment of food especially seafood. I try some of their salmon which was quite tasty.
7. Adalberto's Mexican Food - No trip to San Diego is complete without getting a California burrito, and I head to Adalberto's Mexican Food (the location on Rosecrans) to try and enjoy a tasty California burrito all to myself (Lauren sadly didn't join me here).
