Salalah is the capital city of southern Oman's Dhofar province. It's known for its banana plantations, Arabian Sea beaches and waters teeming with sea life. The Khareef, an annual monsoon, transforms the desert terrain into a lush, green landscape and creates seasonal waterfalls. The Frankincense Land Museum, part of the Al Balid Archaeological Site, recounts the city’s maritime history and role in the spice trade.
Muscat, Oman’s port capital, sits on the Gulf of Oman surrounded by mountains and desert. With history dating back to antiquity, it mixes high-rises and upscale shopping malls with clifftop landmarks such as the 16th-century Portuguese forts, Al Jalali and Mirani, looming over Muscat Harbor. Its modern, marble-clad Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, with 50m dome and prodigious Persian carpet, can accommodate 20,000 people.

Road fsrom Abu Dhabi to Salalah 2018-Khareef #Salalah
In this Video I tried to show how to drive from Abu Dhabi to Salalah, and which route you should take to reach in less than 13 Hours if you are travelling from Abu Dhabi to Salalah.
Advises while driving: Start your Journey in the night from Abu Dhabi so you can drive good distance in UAE and enter Oman in the night. if you do this you will pass the distance of 650 km in Himaa Area in the daylight which preferred because this highway is only one side and cars passing opposite each others, after passing this 650 km you will reach the Salalah early morning like 8 or 10 am and enjoy the early morning beautiful weather and moments and see the green mountains.
While coming beck from Salalah to Abu Dhabi, start in the early morning so you can drive in the dangerous highway which is one side and you will see cars coming opposite in from of you for a distance like 650 km. it is better to pass this area on daylight.

نصائح قبل السفر إلى صلالة من ابوظبي:
ينصح ببدء رحلتك من ابوظبي حوالي الساعة 9 مساءً لتصل حدود عُمان منتصف الليل.
* ثم تكمل الطريق في سلطنة عمان ليلاً تجنباً لدرجات الحرارة العالية نهاراً.
* انتبه هناك مسافة منتصف الطريق لتصل منطقة هيماء حيث ان هذه المسافة تكون حوالي 650 كم تكون فيه السيارات متقابلة في الاتجاهين على نفس الطريق.
كن حذراً في حال اردت تجاوز السيارات امامك.
* تذكر ان تزيد بترول سيارتك عند كل محطة بترول تصل اليها بحيث يكون تانك السيارة مليء دائماً
* ستصل منطقة ثمريت مع طلوع الفجر.
* تدخل صلالة عبر الجبال الخضراء مع الصباح وهذا أجمل وقت حيث ترى الغيوم تعانق الجبال الخضراء.
* سوف تحس انك ترغب بصف السيارة على جانب الطريق لشرب فنجان من القهوة. والتمتع بمنظر الجبال الساحر.
ملاحظة: قبل وصولك صلالة حوالي خمسين كم شتلاحظ كيف تهبط درجات الحرارة كلما اقتربت من صلالة لتصبح بحدود العشرينات اذا كنت تزور صلالة في الخريف. شاهد الفيديو :

Sharjah To Salalah
1239 kms one way
12 hrs and 30 mins
We left home around 4.30 am. We took Al Ain Mezyad border. At border we will have to spent around 30 mins to 1 hr according to the rush. We can get on arrival visa or can apply E visa. We took E visa. 5 omr for visa that is around 50 dhs. UAE exit 35 dhs per person. Insurance around 160 dhs for 7 days.
All the formalities finished and we crossed the border and entered Oman. Reached Salalah around 7.30 pm.

Ayn Athum
Ayn Athum is one of the waterfalls in Dhofar Governorate, outside the city of Salalah. This part of Oman has plethora of natural springs and waterfalls, some of which are seasonal and can only be found during the monsoon season (locally known as Khareef).
Wadi Darbat
Wadi Darbat is the most beautiful and spectacular place in Salalah city and the perfect place for mountain and nature lovers. The place is fully packed with tourists especially in the autumn season. Darbat Lake situated at the heart of Wadi Darbat is a marvellous picnic spot.
Tawi Attair Sinkhole
Tawi Atair Sinkhole Oman is the most famous sinkhole in the Dhofar (Dofar) governorate. This sink hole is located in Tawi Atair, which is quite famous among the vacationers as it is near the main tourist attractions like Wadi Darbat, Mirbat, Samharam Archeological Site, Tayq (Teeq) Cave, Taqa, Anti-Gravity Point and Souly Beach.
Past the Wadi Darbat lies the Tawi Atair, which translates to Well of Birds, containing one of the most gorgeous sinkholes that point to the honeycombed limestones. Get yourself a guide and stroll down a path to the very bottom. The vast Tawi Atair Sinkhole is the world's third-largest sinkhole, as it is 1km long and 200 metres deep.

Teeq cave is located 57 kilometres NEE from Salalah in Dhofar Governorate. Teeq Cave is near the top of the sinkhole Tawi Ateer Sinkhole, popularly known as the ‘Bird Well’ and also one of the world’s largest sinkholes. Both Teeq cave and tawi Ateer Sinkhole are important tourist destinations.
Tawi Ateer Sinkhole gained international fame after its discovery in 1997 by a team of Slovenian explorers in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University. This adds to the Sultanate’s rich biodiversity, its geographical and historical richness, and its historical and archaeological sites, as well as its remains of early civilization.
Jabal Samhan
Jabal Samhan Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the area of Jabal Samḥān in Dhofar, Oman. It has an area of 4,500 square kilometres and has no permanent population. Being in the region of the Dhofar Mountains, it is one of the last refuges for wild Arabian leopards.

Best time to visit Salalah?
monsoon Season starts from June to until September. Best time to visit salalah JULY AND AUGUST month. If you are going to expect these months, no waterfalls, no water in the river, no monsoon and completely dry. better June to September the best time to visit.
How to reach from Dbai/Muscat to Salalah?
Two options to reach Salalah
1. Travel by your own vehicles it will take 16 Hours from Dubai & 12 hours from Muscat Journey in the desert. from Muscat to Salalah 300 km no problem, remain 700 km deep desert. (don't drive day time in the peak summer, temperature touch more than 45 degrees). keep your vehicle very good condition then travel.
2. Travel by flight takes 1 hr 30 min, direct flight from Muscat/Dubai to Salalah.
Any Gas station Available between Muscat to Salalah?
Don't worry, every 100 km (approx) Gas station and restrooms available. better keep your vehicle fuel tanks in full condition.
Debit and credit card acceptance in Oman gas station?
No. Mostly not accept debit cards or credit cards. better carry cash.
Is there any Hotel rooms available in Salalah?
Yes. There are many types of rooms available, Price slightly higher during season time. Price starts at Approx. 15 OMR.
Dubai/Muscat to Salalah road is good?
Yes, Very good road but a 2-way road, drive safely and Speed limit 120km/h.
Did you cover all places in Salalah?
Yes. I stayed in 6 days. there are many places to visit Salalah.
How Long stay in Salalah to cover all place?
At least 5 to 7 days stay in Salalah to cover all place.
Did they accept gulf country currencies?
Yes. Accepted all outlet. For example, if you have AED (United Arab Emirates). Just pay AED and get balance in OMR. No issue about currencies
