Seawind 1260 Catamaran Review 2021 & Prize Giveaway | Our Search For The Perfect Catamaran.

The Seawind 1260 was designed by sailors, for sailors. This 41ft Seawind is a bluewater capable catamaran with a very modest price tag. So modest in fact, that if you are saving for an offshore catamaran, this will get you over the line a few years earlier. There is a lot to love about this Australian designed catamaran with a proven track record in offshore cruising.

We also have an Awesome Prize Giveaway this week. Two of the most valuable cruising guides any sailor could ask for are up for grabs: Lin Pardey's Self Sufficient Sailor & Cruising in Seraffyn. To enter, just leave a comment and make sure you're subscribed!

Finally, don’t forget to leave your vote score for the final Top 10 roundup:

Seawind 1260. Guided Tour and Review. Good Price to Performance, but is it something we'd consider?

We took a guided tour of the Seawind 1260 Catamaran at this year's Annapolis Sailboat Show. We have never filmed this boat before but it was a make that I often got questions about from my viewer.

The Seawind is the lightest and least expensive of the 11 Catamarans we filmed and reviewed from this show. It seems like it is well suited to the type of buyer that is interested in a Catamaran that sails fast, but perhaps not living aboard full-time.

Watch to the end of the video when we give you our opinion on the pros and cons of this Catamaran.

Seawind 1260 Test Sail 2020 | Catamaran Sailing & Management Interview

After the Annapolis boat show we were fortunate enough to be able to take a very popular catamaran, the Seawind 1260 for a test sail. The conditions were calm and warm and we tested out this catamaran in light winds and poor visibility. We were also able to do another candid management interview with Shane Grover, the US marketing manager of Seawind. As with our previous interviews, the questions came from our Patrons and pulled no punches. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Nick & Terysa

Catamaran vs Monohull - A comprehensive review from owners of both

Part 2 right here:

A debate as old as time itself! Which is better, a catamaran or a monohull? I'll give away the answer here: like all boats, both are a compromise. However, they each are better for different missions. In fact while we love our Leopard 46, we will own monohulls in the future.

Essential skills to master, before you go cruising

Before you go cruising, there are some important skills to master on a catamaran to keep you and your family out of harms way, or know how to recover if you get into trouble. We interview experience catamaran skipper Brett Hodder about the important skills that are now taught in a new RYA Day Skipper course with Pacific Sailing School onboard cruising catamarans, plus insights from Pacific Sailing School Principle Terry Wise.

Our favourite Catamarans at different Price Ranges. From the budget-conscious to the big spenders.

After all of the Catamarans reviews we have done over the years, what are our favourite Catamarans? We will rank them at all different price points. We list the following Catamarans that we reviewed from the 2019 Annapolis Sailboat show:

The price range from $500K to $750K: The Seawind 1260, the Excess 12, and the Maverick 440

The price range from $750K to $1M: The Knysna 500, the Antares 44' and the Majestic 530 (old hull).

The price range of $1M to $1.3M: The St. Francis 50', the Majestic 530 (New Hull) and the Xquisite X5.

The price range from $!.3M to $2M: The New Xquisite 53', the Balance 526 and the Privilege 510.

The only boat listed above $2M was the HH55. It was a beauty but you need some deep pockets, especially if you are going for the all carbon fibre version.

Hopefully, you found this episode and the entire 2019 series informative. If so, show the channel some love by giving the videos a thumbs up and by sharing the video link with your friends and family that might also be interested.

SAILING the BEST Catamaran Under 40' [Seawind 1160 Lite Sailing Review/Vlog #2] Learning the Lines

This is the second video in a multi-part sailing/cruising review of the Seawind 1160 Lite. We had the opportunity to cruise aboard a Seawind 1160 Lite for three days alone to really get a feel for if this boat will be right for us. We vlogged about our trip and we'll be sharing what our thoughts are about the boat as much as possible.

We're seriously considering the Seawind 1160 Lite for our next boat because of the long list of positives this catamaran has to offer. Here's just a few of the most important ones to us:

Size - We don't want a huge cat.
Seaworthiness - Plenty of Seawinds have circumnavigated.
Performance - The Seawind 1160 lite is designed to sail well first and foremost.
Livability - She's got a lot of accommodation and room for a 38' boat.
Price point - At a $310,000 base price for a new boat, the Seawind 1160 lite is the most affordable performance cruising catamaran in existence.

All of that combined with the fact that we can set one up with electric outboards, daggerboards, and lifting rudders means we think that the Seawind 1160 Lite might be the best boat possible for our budget and lifestyle.

What do you think?

2009 Boat Review: Seawind 1250

When Australia’s largest catamaran builder and one of the biggest boat exporters comes up with a new model, it's bound to make a splash. Join Allan Whiting as he reviews the 41ft Seawind 1250.

The ultimate performance cruising catamaran. The most affordable, comfortable and fast sailing cats.

Catamaran vs Performance catamaran. What’s the Right Choice For You?

Can a performance cruising catamaran be comfortable? Is it comfort to have numerous bathrooms or smooth motions in heavy seas? Does weight matter? What is the best catamaran for sailing around the world and why?
People are always asking what’s better to buy – Fountain Pajot, Lagoon, Priveledge or Leopard catamaran?
The truth about sailing catamarans is there are much more beautiful and affordable sailboats than you can see on the charter market.
In this sailing video are 3 examples of perfect and comfortable cruising catamarans:
- Atlantic catamaran designed by Chris White
- Cyber catamaran designed by Tim Mumby
- Looping catamaran designed by Patrick Luscher
Interview with long term cruisers/liveaboard owners and catamaran boat tours. Discussions about catamaran life, lightweight construction, sailing speed in different wind conditions, advantages of an ocean crossing on a light, fast and comfortable catamaran.
In this sailing film you can see unique drone shots of 3 beautiful fast catamarans sailing close together.
List of other affordable performance cats (including old Outremer catamarans).
And a look behind the philosophy of different types of catamarans.

Episode 23 – The Elusive Seawind 1190 Sport

Toni and I have never attended the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show, however there were rumors that a Seawind 1190 Sport might be in attendance. We pre-purchased our tickets with VIP access and anxiously waited for the day. The day finally arrived, with the wind, rain, and the cold. We braved the elements and finally got to see the Seawind 1190 Sport firsthand. This was the boat the brought Toni and I into the Seawind Harbor where we went from the 1190 to the 1160 before settling on the 1260. There was also a Lagoon 42 in attendance, and we view that as well, as it is always interesting to experience the differences of similar sized boats. The Spring Sailboat Show is about 1/6 the size of the Fall Sailboat Show. We salvaged the day by alternating time in the VIP lounge where we ate and sampled various Scotch with our ventures out into the elements. We accomplished our goals but will think twice next spring.

Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts.
