While Sailing to Sapodilla Lagoon Marina at the Reserve Belize, Desiree has a panic attack! We have an argument while in a stressful situation that leads to Desiree's panic attack and afterwards we both express our perspective of what went wrong.
Once at the Marina Desiree takes advantage of the amenities and convenience of being ashore to get the boat back in shape after two weeks cruising outside of civilization. Toward the end of our stay we invite our new friends who manage the Marina out for a couple drinks where libatious shenanigans ensue.

Marriage Proposal in Cuba! S02E06 | Project Atticus
After dreaming about becoming cruisers for three years, we finally sail from Key West to Cuba and arrive at Marina Hemingway! After sleeping for 12 hours, we spend our first full day exploring Havana Vieja and are fascinated by the bustling alleyways full to the brim with locals at work or kicking back with friends, kids getting off from school, tourists, scam artists and street performers. We pass the time exploring and taking in the vibrant colors of buildings and atriums of gorgeous colonial structures and the countless pristine antique cars that dot the streets. A couple hours before sunset Jordan insists on taking the ferry to a fortress next to the famous El Morro” Castle. After finding a good spot for a sunset photo, he surprises Desiree with a marriage proposal!

How can Paradise be so MISERABLE! | Sailing Sapodilla Cayes Belize | S03E16
After sailing to the Sapodilla Cayes, Belize, we do some free diving and spear fishing. Jordan talks about our dinghy gear for spearfishing expeditions. We catch two snappers, and Desiree cooks them up . All is well in paradise until the weather changes, and we spend a whole day being bounced around in confused chop. We wait for a weather window to escape to a new anchorage, but seem to be cursed by bad weather. Finally after dodging coral heads in overcast conditions, we drop the hook in Hunting’s Caye, Belize and settle in for some much needed recovery rest!

After temporarily patching a hole in Little Shit we head ashore to explore Halfmoon Caye. The island is an official bird sanctuary and we enjoyed watching hundreds of Red Footed Boobies and Frigate birds soar through the sky as well as observing their colony in the trees.

After our most stressful passage yet we arrive in Bahia de Ascension and are reminded that cruising is actually worth it... sometimes. In Ascension we explore the beautiful sand flats and vibrant blue waters on Little Shit, using Atticus as our home base. We also motor sail Atticus across the bay with the sunshade still up for the first time and begin to get serious about increasing our shade underway.
