Safari in Mole National Park, Ghana Video

Our adventure begins in the Mole National Park in Ghana. While we go out on Safaris in the bush to see wild animals, little did we know that the animals would come to us when we least expected it?

Mole’s big draw is the Elephants and there is a very high chance you will see one, although the rangers never guarantee it. But you will also be able to see baboons, antelopes, crocodiles, warthogs and many many more.

24 Hours in LUXURY AFRICAN SAFARI Camp!! Ghanaian Food & Attractions | Mole National Park, Ghana

???????? JOLINAIKO ECO TOURS:
???? ZAINA LODGE:

After arriving in Mole National Park the previous afternoon, I kicked off my first and only full day in the park with an exciting game drive! Come with me as I spend 24 hours in a luxury African safari camp in Mole National Park, Ghana!

???? WATCH: Ghana Street Food Road Trip –
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

I woke up to an elephant outside. Then, I headed to the dining hall, where the roof is built in the Burkina Faso style. The walls inside are built to look like Larabanga Mosque.

Before breakfast, an elephant showed up outside in front of the resort, so I went to go see him. He was beautiful!

My breakfast consisted of a double espresso, jam, doughnuts, granola, fruit, and eggs. I had the entire lodge to myself, so it was super relaxing and beautiful.

The eggs were beautiful! The texture on them was amazing, and the chilies added some nice heat. It was so unique!

Then, it was time for my game drive! You can do two per day, as well as a walking safari in the mornings. The rangers accompany you on tours to ensure your safety. If an animal gets too close, they’ll shoot in the air to scare it off, but will never actually shoot the animal.

There were some crocodiles in the watering hole in front of the lodge. Then, we headed to another watering hole, where there were 4 elephants feeding and drinking.

Then, the resort called us and told us that there were six elephants back at the other watering hole! We raced back there and passed guinea fowl and antelope. Mid-morning around 9-10 is the best time to see wildlife.

There were four elephants bathing in the water and two along the shore. I also saw a water monitor scamper into the water!

Then, we went into a small stone structure called the Hide, where you can view the elephants without them seeing you. The view from there is even better!

Then, we headed back to the resort for lunch at 11:30. I had grilled chicken, veg stew, salad, green pea soup, and garlic rice. The presentations were breathtaking!

The green pea soup was creamy and flavorful, and the cabbage salad was outstanding. I loved the other salad, too!

I also couldn’t get enough of the baked chicken with beet glaze. I added some chili sauce to it, and the rice and spicy vegetable stew were full of flavor! Dessert was three different flavors of gourmet ice cream.

Next, I met back up with Ben and Isaac to drive to Mole Village, a village of mud huts with grass roofs. The architecture here is different from southern Ghana. It was similar to the ones I saw in Lesotho.

Two minutes from the village is the Mole River, where we took a canoe ride! The river gets really high during the rainy season. Best of all, there are no crocodiles here.

From there, we continued on to Larabanga Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in the world. The architecture is incredible!

From there, we drove to the Mystic Stone, which is said to have legendary powers and is said to return to its current position whenever you move it.

Back at the resort, there were three elephants right outside my room! It was so spectacular that I decided to not go on the afternoon game drive. The game came to us!

Then, I went for an early dinner at 5:30. I started with some pumpkin soup, carrot salad, and Caesar salad. They were outstanding!

I followed that with the main course, some chicken kebabs! The onions, chicken, red peppers, and green peppers were the best!

What an unforgettable day!

Jeep Safari At the Mole National Park In Ghana - AFRICA

On our second day at the Mole National Park in Northern Ghana we got up early to go on a Jeep Safari. This was a lot of fun too but the walking Safari we did the day before was hard to beat. Why? Well see for yourself in this video:

During this safari it was a bit hard to spot animals since we were zipping by so fast but we got to see some wildlife and the highlight yet again were of course seeing elephants.

We were happy to go on this Jeep Safari but if you have to choose I would recommend doing the foot safari as described here:

We're going to be writing about the jeep safari soon on our Ghana Travel Blog:

My First WEST AFRICAN GAME DRIVE!! African Wildlife in Mole National Park, Ghana

???????? JOLINAIKO ECO TOURS:
???? ZAINA LODGE:

After a long, seven-hour road trip from Kumasi, I finally arrived at Mole National Park just in time for the final game drive of the day. Join me as I experience my very first West African game drive and enjoy a spicy Ghanaian pork chop dinner in Mole National Park, Ghana!

My afternoon began inside the park, which is the largest wildlife game reserve in Ghana. It was established back in 1958 and covers 4,840 square kilometers.

???? WATCH: Extreme Ghana Chop Bar Food in Kumasi –
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

I was staying at Zaina Lodge, which is the first luxury resort in West Africa. But first, before I set out on my 3:30 game drive, I had to check in at the lodge!

Inside, they checked my temperature before I checked out the lodge. There was a massive reception area and extra-high ceilings. There was also an open-air dining area that looks out over the resort’s pool and the savannah, but I forgot my bathing suit!

On the grounds is a pair of watering holes where the elephants come to drink. I was greeted with some refreshing lime juice.

The resort has 25 luxury tents, with 12 on one side and 13 on the other. As you walk to your bungalow, you should stick to the path, as animals sometimes wander through the resort.

My tent featured a big terrace looking over the entire game reserve, including both watering holes. There was an elephant at one of them! I hadn’t been to Africa in years, and this is what I loved about the continent.

The tent was huge, with a king-sized bed, work station, and a TV. There’s a solid wall in the vanity area, but everything else is cloth. The shower was nice and spacious with two sinks and a separate toilet room. It was really special!

I met my ranger and driver and then set off on my game drive. They expected to see eight different species! I had the entire vehicle to myself because I was the only guest at the lodge at the moment. You can stand up in it to get better views of the animals.

Our first animal sighting was of a few antelopes. Game drives can be tricky; sometimes you may see a lot of animals, sometimes you might see nothing. It’s luck of the draw, so I recommend being patient and not setting your expectations too high.

It’s best to visit Africa during the dry season. While the wet season is lush and you may see more animals, the weather is a lot less cooperative with the amount of rain you get.

We then saw some juvenile water bucks, but the watering hole where they usually see elephants was empty. Then, we came across a baboon in a nearby tree. It kept grunting at us, almost like it was taunting us.

Then, we saw a warthog! We made it back to the lodge just in time to see the beautiful sunset. I headed to the bar, got a drink, and headed out on the outdoor terrace to relax.

Next, I headed to the kitchen, where they were making me baked pork chops, yam fries, and tomato soup. The cook also make me a Greek salad, and she made some snapper for someone else!

The tomato soup was delicious and creamy, with a touch of sweetness. Then, I jumped on the Greek salad and beets. I love vegetables, and it was great to eat some whole ones that weren’t broken down in a stew. The spicy sauce for the fries was really hot!

I also loved the pork chop. I rarely eat pork, but this was fantastic. I loved the caramelized soy-like glaze on it. The pork chop came with vegetables with fish oil on them, which gave them a Szechwan-like flavor. They were crunchy, spicy, and a little sweet!

The Wild Elephants Of Mole National Park - Safari By Foot - Ghana, Africa

First off, I want to apologize for this super jumpy and shaky footage for most part of the video. I normally film these days with the Osmo Pocket but it's not set up with a zoom lens, so for some clips I decided to film with my damaged zoom lens of my mirrorless camera, which has a broken stabilizer. I had it sent in to have it repaired but they sent it back still broken and it doesn't matter if I have stabilization turned off or on.

Even though I'm a bit heartbroken about this footage, it was such an incredible experience to be that close to these wild elephants at the Mole National Park in Ghana and yes, we were walking through the Savanna by foot which made meeting the elephants more special and a bit terrifying.

We're soon going to write about the Mole Park Elephants on our Ghana Travel Blog soon:

Mole National Park is Ghana's largest wildlife refuge and one of its most visited tourist attractions. The park is located near Larabanga in the Savannah region in Ghana's north.

As of late 2018, drones (RPAS) are NOT allowed in the park. I filmed this footage with park authorities' permission in April 2018 before the ban was in place. Now I'm sharing it with you so that you can use the drone video in your projects that promote tourism and economic development in northern Ghana.

SAFARI TOUR GHANA MOLE NATIONAL PARK

Mole National Park is one of the most common tourist destinations in Ghana. The park contains different species of animals. Many visit mainly to see the elephants. There is a motel on site complete with a lovely restaurant. My first visit to Africa.

A TRIP TO MOLE NATIONAL PARK AND ZAINA LODGE | THE SAFARI PARADISE UP NORTH (GHANA)

My team and I decided to make a detour on a work trip up north to enjoy a piece of nature. This was definitely my first time at the Mole National park and Zaina Lodge and it was absolutely amazing. Made quiet a number of safari friends too????

A couple of years earlier, I missed the opportunity to go to Zaina Lodge with @nanakofiasihene to shoot a music video by @MrEazi but I guess I finally had my chance????

One thing the had not changed over the years in Zaina Lodge was the service. Such an amazing place with flawless hospitality, great food and beautiful sunsets. I'd definitely love to go back there again.
