Guided Wim Hof Method Breathing

!! Don't do the breathing exercises in a swimming pool, before going underwater, beneath the shower, or piloting any vehicle. Always practice sitting or lying down in a safe environment. Tinnitus symptoms may appear as a result of pushing too forcefully during the breathing exercise. If this happens, take a step back in your future practice, it’s important to increase gradually, not forcefully !!

Safety: Read about Shallow Water Blackout:

This Breathing Bubble is an audiovisual guide that helps you maintain rhythm and pace during your breathing sessions. Simply watch the bubble as it expands and contracts, and follow with your breath. You'll hear Wim breathe alongside you, and entrancing background sounds help tune out your surroundings, allowing you to focus on nothing but your breath.

breathe light to breathe right demo

I explain a bit about breathing, nasal and abdominal breathing.

Then i show a simple 10 min breathing exercise to return to ‘functional’ breathing patterns and to help reset our CO2 tolerance.

Then of course we have our BOLT score. 18 seconds for me, pretty bad. But no surprise with how I’ve been feeling recently.

I am deeply passionate about breathing. And I believe if we were all breathing better then there would be less stress, anxiety, worry, fear, and we’d all be better working humans and athletes. I look forward to sharing more of this stuff. And i will continue to learn how to teach and explain the science. Certification coming soon:)

Deep meditation

We all do our best to stay positive, but occasionally we can slip into negative thinking patterns that can wreak havoc on our lives. We might worry about our past mistakes or current stresses, and how these could lead to negative outcomes in the future. We might obsess about or over-analyze regular experiences and interactions, reading into them things that aren’t actually there. We might find that as soon as one bad thing happens, we associate it with all the other bad things that have happened in our lives and begin to feel miserable. We might feel anxious in the present, having a hard time getting out of our own heads as we worry and obsess about the things that could go wrong. If you find yourself in this place frequently, you are what psychologists call a ruminator, or, an over-thinker, and this way of thinking can be harmful to your health. Psychologists have found that over-thinking can be detrimental to human performance, and can lead to anxiety and depression, especially in women, who are much more likely than men to ruminate on stress and disappointments than men....1) Accept that You Have a Problem with Over-Thinking.
The first step to healing is acknowledging that you have a problem. If you feel like you can’t get out of your own head and over-thinking is stopping you from living a happy life, making decisions, getting things done, or forming meaningful relationships, then you have a problem. If you find yourself spiraling into negativity and depression when a bad thing happens, you have a problem. If your anxiety about the future is stopping you from enjoying the present, you have a problem. Burying your head in the sand or denying this reality will only make the situation worse. If you are not sure if you have a problem, ask your friends and loved ones to be honest with you, because they are usually the ones who will see it even if you cannot.
2) Forgive Yourself: Our Brains are Hardwired This Way
Once you can admit that you are an over-thinker, forgive yourself, because the brain is actually wired to make over-thinking a natural tendency. According to Psychologist Susan Nolen-Hoeksema, the leading expert in this field, “the organization of our brains sets us up for over-thinking” because our thoughts and memories are intrinsically woven together, not compartmentalized. So when stressors are triggered or you get into a bad mood, it can unlock a ‘cascade’ of racing negative thoughts that have nothing to do with the original trigger for the bad mood. Nolen-Hoeksema gives the example of “when poor job performance causes you to think about your aunt who died last year.”
Furthermore, when something bad happens or someone is feeling negative, they are more likely to think negative things and also see connections (that may not actually exist) between all the bad events that have happened in their lives. The more frequently this happens, the more likely the individual is to engage in this over-thinking pattern in the future.
While the brain might be wired to make these associations, once you become aware you can begin to solve the problem.
3) Breathe More
If our brains are wired in this ‘interconnected spider web’ whereone bad event can trigger a tidal wave of negative thought associations, how can we break this pattern?
The first and easiest thing you can do is BREATHE. Breathing will relax you, calm you, connect you to the present moment, and ground you to Mother Earth. It sounds so simple but often when our mind starts to race to bad places, we become manic and frantic when what we need to do is relax the body and mind.
The breathing technique that works for me involves lying down and taking a two-second long deep inhalation in through the nose, followed by a four-second long exhalation out through the mouth. This breathing pattern increases the CO2 in the bloodstream, which can relax the body and calm the adrenal system’s response to the obsessive thoughts. Do this for 10 minutes or until the excessive thinking slows down.
4) Talk Less
So many over-thinkers, especially those of us of the female persuasion, can’t help but want to ‘talk it out’ when we are feeling stressed and worried. While talking about the worries can sometimes help, it usually will make things worse, especially if the person you are talking to is also an over-thinker, and you spend the entire time over-analyzing and dissecting every detail of every negative problem in your lives. You might end up working yourself up into a frenzy of negativity and feeling even more upset after the conversation. My friends wish you all a happy life

200hr Yoga Intensive for a MONTH?! What did I sign up for?!

In May 2021, I separated from the Air Force after 8.5 years and I quit my job in Pharmacy after 8 years. Why?!

To pursue my dreams. I already lived in my van, Nora, full-time and had made THAT dream a reality. Now I wanted to escape the world of military and healthcare and go be the little health-obsessed yogi I wanted to be.

I've been practicing yoga for many years and have always wanted to teach. I didn't know in what capacity I wanted to teach others until my friend, and I were discussing the idea of becoming certified yoga teachers. A light bulb went off. DING! That was it. That was my path to teaching.

I've been a beacon of nutrition and overall wellness for countless people in my life and this path just made sense. I had just never thought of it before.

In 2019, I was diagnosed with two severe medical conditions and my doctor told me she needed to schedule me for an emergent surgery to remove two of my organs and then she would place me on hormone therapy for the rest of my life. I was in constant, daily pain.

In my typical fashion, I said f*** that, left on a 6-month deployment to Al Uldeid, Qatar, and decided I'd take my health in my own hands. I changed my nutrition, my stress levels, and my fitness. 6-months later, I had no remaining symptoms and felt healthier than ever.

1.5 years after my diagnosis, I have all of my organs, I'm not on hormone therapy, and I am symptom free. Yoga has played a key role in that result.

So after expressing the idea in fall of 2020, we started avidly researching schools. We knew we didn't want to do the weekend type of certification program, but couldn't really find anything on Youtube about a month-long intensive that answered all of our questions. Then comes Zen Den Yoga School in Florida, and although my ego fought it for awhile because I was set on doing an international school, I caved and booked the school.

I was at work - crying, drowning in tasks, stress, and dealing with patients left and right that had crisis I needed to fix. I was managing medications for Lung, Kidney, and Liver transplant patients at the time in Phoenix, Arizona. Living in parking lots. Working ridiculous hours. Surviving off of cupcakes from the break room and Starbucks drinks. After a distasteful demand from my boss to appease the hospital's Vice President, I broke down, stepped away from my desk, and booked the yoga intensive.

I immediately started making plans to leave the military and my job. I told my co-workers so they could mentally prepare and waited until 6 weeks out to give my notice to work. One month before the school started, I signed papers to separate from the Air Force and 2 weeks before flying to Florida, I logged out of my work laptop for the last time.

The anxiety running through my body was unreal. This video is me one day prior to checking in at Zen Den Yoga School. I was full of fear, worries, doubts, and a lot of excitement in this video. Little did I know just HOW much my life was about to change.

This is only the beginning.

Thank you for joining. Much love and light. Namaste.

Effective Ways to Cope Up with Uncertainty - in English & Cebuano

Hi, my name is Mary Jedde. I moved to Singapore in the year 2017 when I was 22 years old. I'm still in Singapore now, working as a Corporate Trainer. I facilitate team building programs and training both in Singapore and overseas like Malaysia, Indonesia, and India. My hometown is in Cebu. There, I studied BS Psychology during my undergraduate years at the University of San Carlos. I finished my degree as Cum Laude and was awarded as The Top Outstanding Leader in the whole university in 2015. I am also a Registered Psychometrician by the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC).

When I moved here to this new country, I further pursued my graduate studies in Singapore. I recently earned another degree - Graduate Diploma in Applied Positive Psychology with high distinction. I then received my Certificate as a Resilience in the Workplace Trainer and also in Psychotherapy, Coaching and Counselling.

In almost four years of working in a country like Singapore, I learned so many things, one of them is learning to be strong because not everything in life can be controlled. Being overseas is uncertain, you won’t know if you still have a job the next month or the next year. There is no assurance that you will be spared from being kicked out.

Let’s talk about uncertainty and how we can overcome it, how do we overcome anxiety in these times. Learn practical tools you can easily do to combat these feelings.

---
Through this video, I was invited to share my insights about how we can cope up with uncertainty. Since I'm far away from home, I felt this was one of the best things I could do to contribute my part in advocating a flourishing well-being.

To summarize, let's not focus on the UNCERTAINTY itself. Rather, let's focus more on what we can do, on choosing to take good care of our mental health SO THAT we can EMBRACE UNCERTAINTY more BRAVELY and COURAGEOUSLY.

We've been facing uncertainty in many aspects of our lives. And we have gone through them successfully before, that's why we've reached where we are now. When something is uncertain we often experience three feelings or emotions around it:
1. Stress
2. Fear
3. Stuck

So how can we cope up?
1. Do something we can control.
2. Nurture a hobby.
3. Pray.

Watch the video to know more about it.
BONUS CONTENT:
1. My story in Singapore
2. Cute photos
3. Me vlogging? :-)

Thank you for your patience with the audio and quality. I'm trying to learn this stuff. It takes tons of practice and patience.

Lastly, as you reach the end of the video. Kindly do the homework!
