SOLOMON ISLANDS: Forgotten WW2 Japanese War memorial, Battle of Guadalcanal

Battle of Guadalcanal, Island of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, Pacific Ocean - forgotten second world war (WW2) Japanese war memorial from the Battle of Guadalcanal also known as the Guadalcanal campaign. Let's travel to the island of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands and let's visit a forgotten (and very neglected) WW2 Japanese war memorial built to honor the dead soldiers during the Guadalcanal campaign in 1942 and 1943. This forgotten WW2 Japanese war memorial, from the battle of Guadalcanal, was difficult to find but it was well worth the effort!! Guadalcanal is the principal island in Guadalcanal Province of the nation of Solomon Islands in the south-western Pacific, northeast of Australia. During 1942–43 it was the scene of the Guadalcanal Campaign, and saw bitter fighting between Japanese and US troops; the Americans were ultimately victorious.

NOUMEA: 1870s abandoned French FORT TEREKA ????, the rusty cannons (New Caledonia)

Noumea, New Caledonia, Pacific Ocean - the abandoned French Fort Tereka in Noumea in New Caledonia. Let's tour Fort Tereka in New Caledonia, outside its capital city of Noumea, and let's look closely at its cannons from the 1870s. We will learn a few things about Fort Tereka architecture as well, let's go..
Fort Tereka is a secluded spot often completely omitted from the usual tourist trail in Nouméa. A trip to the fort offers the opportunity to explore an abandoned 19th century military fort, complete with canons and tunnels, as well as stunning panoramic views. Built by the French in 1878 the fort was designed to fire upon an approaching invasion attempt during the Franco-Prussian war (although such an invasion seems very unlikely from today’s point of view). Take time to soak up the view, and explore the tunnels and gunpowder holdings. Visitors can access the fort by road, or walk up through Nouméa’s only dry forest from Keundu Beach.
