In this guide, we’ll visit one of the most impressive natural areas of Europe – the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia.
Broad green expanses, an Alpine view with perfect peaks, forests, lakes and rivers all right alongside a delicious and fascinating traditional cuisine, activities for the whole family, hospitable residents, history, and culture.
Our trip will be divided into three popular regions: the High Tatras, the Low Tatras, and the Slovak Garden of Eden.
In each one of these areas, you can visit different natural sites, but in some of them you can also find similar attractions, like water parks, sporting activities, and more, so you’ll be able to decide which of the areas is most important for your visit. The best season for nature trips in the Tatras is summer or the start of fall. If you love skiing, then the snowy winter offers a wide range of sites and attractions.

Here are top 10 places worth visiting in Slovakia
1. Bratislava 0:04
The largest city in Slovakia, as well as being the capital, Bratislava lies on the River Danube and borders both Austria and Hungary. Come here for a trip to the imposing Bratislava Castle, perched on a plateau above the city and originally built in the 10th century.

2. Slovak caves 0:20
Slovakia is home to almost 2,500 caves, and more are being discovered as time goes on, with some 400 having been explored to date. The entire Slovak Karst region of caves has UNESCO World Heritage Site status, and if you like spelunking then you can’t miss a trip to one of the spectacular caves in the region.
3. Kosice 0:43
The charming city of Košice was named the European Capital of Culture in 2013 and has a cosmopolitan feel to it that expertly mixes the old with the new.
Explore the Old Town where you will find medieval architecture and many of the buildings here are protected.
For a fine example of Gothic style, head to St Elisabeth Cathedral, built in the 14th century, as well as the St Michael Chapel that also dates from the same period.
4. Piestany 1:13
Known predominantly as a spa town, come to Pieštàny for some rest and relaxation as you bathe in the medicinal thermal waters as well as the sulphuric mud, said to cure a number of ills. The spa is located on the aptly named Spa Island and features a range of treatments and baths that make use of the geothermal properties created by mineral deposits from the surrounding mountains.
5. Trencin 1:38
The city of Trencín near the border with the Czech Republic is historic region known for the dominating yet beautiful Trencín Castle that lies atop a rock and which is medieval in style and is split into two sites, the upper and lower parts of the castle.
6. Spis 1:56
The region of Spis lies near to the border with Poland, and is most famed for the mighty Spis Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates from the 12th century.
The castle has its origins in the Romanesque style and is made of stone with fortifications to protect it from marauders.
7. Slovak paradise National Park 2:15
One of nine national parks in Slovakia, Slovak Paradise National Park is the perfect place to take in the local flora and fauna, and has forests, lush park lands, and chilly caves. There are over 300 kilometres of hiking trails to choose from for hikers of all levels of fitness, and bird watching and cycling are also popular pursuits in the park. There are also canyons, ravines, lakes, and gorges in the park

National Park High Tatras (Vysoke Tatry) is situated in the north of Slovakia, shared partly with Poland. The only mountains of Alpine type in the whole Carpathian Mountain range are often called the smallest alpine mountains in Europe
9. Orava Castle 3:00
Perhaps the most beautiful castle in Slovakia, Orava castle is 13th century castle located in the northern part of the country, hidden among the peaks of 4 national parks.
It was a place of lots of movies and fairy tales and is presented on the promo video of Slovakia.
10. Bojnice 3:19
In the central portion of the country, you will find the historic town of Bojnice along the banks of the Nitra River.
There are several notable attractions that can be found in the city.
The oldest zoo in the nation is situated in Bojnice and the local Bojnice Castle is considered to be the most popular castle in Slovakia.

Tatra Mountains: Why You Must Go
Thanks to my French passport I had a shot at getting to Europe for autumn. The first place I wanted to see in 2020 was the Tatra Mountains so I emailed the Polish Tourism Office to see if they would have me over. They said yes! Here's 7 days going up and down this range just in time for the fall colors and the first snows of the year. Oh and no-one was there because of you know what.
Thank you Tatras, just like last time, you've left me wanting more.

This short movie was made in a few days trip to the High Tataras in Slovakia.
We Stayed in Starý Smokovec and went for a hike from the Biela Voda – parkovisko parking lot, Just after Tatranská Lomnica to Chata pri Zelenom plese. Than We crossed the ridge to Trojrohe Pleso and Dolina Bielej vody kežmarskej, Trojrohe Pleso from there we went down to Chata Plesnivec and back to the parking lot. On the next day we took a train from Starý Smokovec to Štrbské Pleso and spent the morning there.
Shots were assembled with no voice over or music intending to make you feel you were there.

There is nothing more iconic for Slovakia other than the majestic peaks of the High Tatra Mountains.
In this first video of the series we explore the city of Poprad, sometimes considered as the gateway to the mountains and then we will take a local train and a cable car to one of the highest peaks - Lomnický štít.
Will the insane price for the cable car ticket be worth it? Stay tuned to find out.

A quick weekend ride to Tatra mountains. I rented out a Yamaha FZ6 from Krakow and rode to Slovakia.

In the winter of 2018, I had the chance to rad trip across Hungary and Slovakia, over a period of 21 Days. Out of that we spent 10 days in Slovakia
First we went to the small town of Bardejov which is a UNESCO world heritage site
Next, we visited Slovak Paradise National Park where we stayed in a small town called Dedinky
After that we headed for the Mountains called as the High Tatras. On the foothills of those mountains, we stayed at this place called as Tatranska Lomnica
The next foothill town was Strebske Pleso which had the most beautiful lake that I had ever seen.
After that we headed to Bratislava where we explored the night life, Bratislava castle, UFO bridge and just roamed around.
