SEFTV: Ang PINAKA MALALIM NA LAGOON sa PILIPINAS // San Pedro Island, Philippines

Although these are separate Barangays, they are often considered twin islands and sometimes spoken of as a single entity (i.e. “I’m going to San Pedro / San Pablo today”).

These islands are very prominent features of Hinunangan Bay and are readily visible from the beach at Hinunangan. The trip itself only takes about 30 minutes but since there is no pier on either Hinunangan or the islands you will embark and alight on the beach itself.

San Pedro, also known as Pong Dako (dako means big), is the larger of the two, and features palm trees and coral beaches. San Pablo is referred to as Pong Gamay (gamay means small), as it’s the smaller island. Both are relatively small islands and look like the prototype of a secluded island oasis in the south pacific.

The STRANGEST ISLAND in the PHILIPPINES

Danajon Islet, also known as Dawahon Islet, is an islet in the Philippines found at the easternmost end of the Danajon Bank. The islet is coterminous with Barangay Dawahon, which is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Bato in the province of Leyte.

There is an elementary school, a church, two basketball courts, one small road, and one government medical clinic. The high school children are sent to Hingotanan Island, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) away by boat. There is a weekly ferry service from this islet to mainland town of Bato, Leyte, which is 24 kilometres (15 mi) away. Other nearby islands include Bilanglangan Island, Gaus Island, & the Caubyan Islets, which are 27 miles (43 km) to the east.

The islet takes its name from the Danajon Bank, the Philippines only double barrier reef and one of only 6 documented double barrier reefs in the world. A very rare geological formation, it comprises two sets of large coral reefs that formed offshore on a submarine ridge due to a combination of favorable tidal currents and coral growth in the area.

Danajon Bank is home to a vast array of commercially valuable reef fishes, shellfish, crustaceans, and invertebrates such as sea cucumbers and sea urchins. Its extensive seagrass beds are nursery and feeding grounds for various species of rabbitfish (siganids) and sea horses, while its mangroves are spawning habitats for crustaceans, shrimps, and various fishes.

SEFTV: Ang MISTERYOSONG ISLA ng DARAM saan nga ba makikita?

The Island was originally part of the municipality of Zumarraga, Samar, and mostly inhabited by a few fisher-folk and travelers from other places whose primary source of income was fishing and farming.

As the years passed Daram began to grow in population and economic activities through settlers and travelers who constructed dwelling units sporadically along the coastlines of the islands.

Recently, there is a surge in tourism activity in Daram with the rise in popularity of Kandiwata islet, a rock formation that has become a popular tourist destination. Nearby Monbon beach is also a popular recreation site for beach campers and overnight stay for Kandiwata tourists.

SEFTV: Mala BUNGO NA ISLA sa Pilipinas, Saan nga ba makikita?

The name Capoocan comes from the dialect term mapu-uk which means obstructed or obstaculizado in Spanish. It lies along the shores of Carigara Bay - its people drawing sustenance both from the waters which give an abundant harvest of fish that find their way in the markets of Tacloban and Carigara, as well as in the fertile lands that end at the foot of Mount Minoro.

Expansion efforts have been limited by the presence of Mount Minoro. The mountain obstructs and contains the town in its present site - forbidding further growth but protecting the town from the strong typhoons that have battered neighboring towns.

Bucas Grande is an island in the province of Surigao del Norte in the Philippines. The island is contiguous with the municipality of Socorro, Surigao del Norte. Its area is 128 square kilometres (49 sq mi). Its name means large mouth or large opening in Philippine Spanish in reference to the wide strait in between Bucas Grande and Socorro Island.

Bucas Grande Island is situated on the far eastern part of mainland Surigao del Norte. The lone island municipality of Socorro is the only one of its kind in the entire province of Surigao del Norte.

Bucas Grande is also the site of the Sohoton Cove, a tourist attraction consisting of a cluster of small islets with lagoons, natural limestone caves, and rock formations. The name means narrow opening in Visayan, referring to the narrow gaps between the small islands. It is commonly mistaken as being a national park, due to the confusion with the similarly named Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge Park in Samar Island to the north.

Is LIMASAWA the best island in PHILIPPINES?

LIMASAWA is famous as it is believed to be the site of the first mass in Philippine soil, officiated on Easter Sunday of March 31, 1521 by Father Pedro de Valderrama under the fleet of Ferdinand Magellan.

LIMASAWA ISLAND - Philippines
is an island municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines.

At the request of the residents of the island of Limasawa,
the six barangays that comprise that island were detached and separated from the municipality of Padre Burgos. Limasawa completely became a municipality on August 27, 1989, after former President Corazon Aquino ordered the plebiscite which its residents voted in favor of the creation. The island, also known as Sarangani Island, is located south of Leyte, in the Mindanao or Bohol Sea. It is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long from north to south and is the smallest municipality in the province, in both area and population.

A simple celebration was held Wednesday in the island town of Limasawa, Southern Leyte to mark the 500th anniversary of the First Easter Mass in the Philippines.

Hundreds of pre-selected pilgrims, government officials, and Roman Catholic priests flocked to the island town to attend the solemn mass and thanksgiving program amid limitations brought by the pandemic.
