SEFTV: The Php700M New DZR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT in PHILIPPINES

TACLOBAN CITY- The construction of the passenger terminal building of the Daniel Z. Romualdez (DZR) Airport is expected to be completed soon than originally planned.

This after Transportations Sec. Arthur Tugade directed the contractor MAC Builders to hasten its construction ahead of its target completion of 540 days or more than a year.

Tugade, who visited the DZR Airport last November 28, asked the contractor to instead finish the construction of the passenger terminal building to just 270 days or around nine months.

It was learned that MAC Builders agreed to this request of Tugade who said that the project is a ‘prime importance’ not only to the people of Leyte, where the airport is located, but to the rest of Eastern Visayas.

The construction of the facility started last Tuesday (Dec.1) with a funding cost of P699.16 million and with a revised work schedule, it is expected to be operational by second quarter of 2022.

Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez expressed his elation on the directive of Sec. Tugade to hasten the construction of the passenger terminal building as this could accommodate more passengers.

According to the city mayor, the improvement of the DZR Airport has been in the pipelines for decades but for some reason was not fully realized.

“I am happy that (Sec.Tugade) has ordered for the fast completion of the project. If the DZR Airport will modernize, this will not only benefit Tacloban City but the rest of Eastern Visayas,” he said.

During this time of pandemic, the daily flights at the DZR Airport has drastically reduced from its previous 14 daily flights to just five flights a day.

The Tacloban Airport, located in San Jose District, is considered among the country’s busiest airports accommodating millions of passengers.
When Tacloban was pummeled by Super Typhoon ‘Yolanda,’ the said airport sustained major damages.

This place was once the CAPITAL of the PHILIPPINES

The Price mansion, was the residence of Walter Scott Price, his wife Simeona Kalingag, and their children in Tacloban City, Leyte. It also served as the headquarters and residence of General Douglas MacArthur during The Liberation in 1944 and once the Provisional Capitol of the Philippines. The Price Mansion is an example of American colonial homes popularly built in the 1910s.

Constructed in 1910 and enlarged in 1936, the Price Mansion served as Provisional Capitol from 20-23 October 1944 upon the reconstitution of the Commonwealth of the Philippines for President Sergio Osmeña.
On October 20, 1944 the Japanese bomb penetrated the roof over General MacArthur’s room. The hole caused by the bombed was preserved and can still be seen today.

Acquired by the College Assurance Plan and made no major alterations to preserve its original architecture, it now houses the CAP Family of Companies, Victory Church, a law office, a school, the MacArthur Room, an Art Gallery, and a Conference Center.

Walter Scott Price is an American soldier and businessman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was part of the U.S. Army assigned to the Philippines at the onset of the Spanish-American War. During his stay in the Philippines, Price met and eventually married Simeona Kalingag, a Caviteña, on January 1, 1901. They settled in Tacloban City and founded the Leyte Transportation Company (Letranco) and the Bazar Gran Capitan.

On October 23, 1944, General Douglas MacArthur re-established the Philippine Commonwealth in Tacloban with Sergio Osmeña as President.
At that period in history, Tacloban was both the general headquarters of the liberation forces of the United Stated of America and the seat of government of the Philippine commonwealth.

Is LIMASAWA the best island in PHILIPPINES?

LIMASAWA is famous as it is believed to be the site of the first mass in Philippine soil, officiated on Easter Sunday of March 31, 1521 by Father Pedro de Valderrama under the fleet of Ferdinand Magellan.

LIMASAWA ISLAND - Philippines
is an island municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines.

At the request of the residents of the island of Limasawa,
the six barangays that comprise that island were detached and separated from the municipality of Padre Burgos. Limasawa completely became a municipality on August 27, 1989, after former President Corazon Aquino ordered the plebiscite which its residents voted in favor of the creation. The island, also known as Sarangani Island, is located south of Leyte, in the Mindanao or Bohol Sea. It is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long from north to south and is the smallest municipality in the province, in both area and population.

A simple celebration was held Wednesday in the island town of Limasawa, Southern Leyte to mark the 500th anniversary of the First Easter Mass in the Philippines.

Hundreds of pre-selected pilgrims, government officials, and Roman Catholic priests flocked to the island town to attend the solemn mass and thanksgiving program amid limitations brought by the pandemic.

SEFTV: Ang MISTERYOSONG ISLA ng DARAM saan nga ba makikita?

The Island was originally part of the municipality of Zumarraga, Samar, and mostly inhabited by a few fisher-folk and travelers from other places whose primary source of income was fishing and farming.

As the years passed Daram began to grow in population and economic activities through settlers and travelers who constructed dwelling units sporadically along the coastlines of the islands.

Recently, there is a surge in tourism activity in Daram with the rise in popularity of Kandiwata islet, a rock formation that has become a popular tourist destination. Nearby Monbon beach is also a popular recreation site for beach campers and overnight stay for Kandiwata tourists.

The STRANGEST ISLAND in the PHILIPPINES

Danajon Islet, also known as Dawahon Islet, is an islet in the Philippines found at the easternmost end of the Danajon Bank. The islet is coterminous with Barangay Dawahon, which is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Bato in the province of Leyte.

There is an elementary school, a church, two basketball courts, one small road, and one government medical clinic. The high school children are sent to Hingotanan Island, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) away by boat. There is a weekly ferry service from this islet to mainland town of Bato, Leyte, which is 24 kilometres (15 mi) away. Other nearby islands include Bilanglangan Island, Gaus Island, & the Caubyan Islets, which are 27 miles (43 km) to the east.

The islet takes its name from the Danajon Bank, the Philippines only double barrier reef and one of only 6 documented double barrier reefs in the world. A very rare geological formation, it comprises two sets of large coral reefs that formed offshore on a submarine ridge due to a combination of favorable tidal currents and coral growth in the area.

Danajon Bank is home to a vast array of commercially valuable reef fishes, shellfish, crustaceans, and invertebrates such as sea cucumbers and sea urchins. Its extensive seagrass beds are nursery and feeding grounds for various species of rabbitfish (siganids) and sea horses, while its mangroves are spawning habitats for crustaceans, shrimps, and various fishes.

SEFTV: The METRO MANILA SUBWAY SYSTEM // The Philippines Project of the Century

The Metro Manila Subway, formerly known as the Mega Manila Subway (MMS) is an under-construction underground rapid transit line in Metro Manila, Philippines. The 36-kilometer (22 mi) line, which will run north–south between Quezon City, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, and Pasay, consists of 15 stations between the Quirino Highway and FTI stations. It will become the country's second direct airport rail link after the North–South Commuter Railway, with a branch line to Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Dubbed as the Project of the Century in the country, the subway line's groundbreaking took place on February 27, 2019, and construction began the following December. It will be partially opened in 2022 and fully operational by 2026. Expected to cost ₱227 billion (equivalent to US$4.5 billion in 2017 dollars), the line is the most expensive transportation project undertaken by the Duterte administration. Much of its cost is covered by a loan provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA); the first part of a ¥104.5-billion loan was signed in March 2018.

The Metro Manila Subway is designed to connect with other urban rail transit services in the region. Riders may transfer to LRT Line 1, MRT Line 3, and MRT Line 7 at the North Avenue Common station, which is also currently under construction. Other connections include the existing LRT Line 2 and PNR Metro Commuter Line, as well as the planned Makati Intra-city Subway, the MRT Line 4, and MRT Line 8.

SEFTV: Mala BUNGO NA ISLA sa Pilipinas, Saan nga ba makikita?

The name Capoocan comes from the dialect term mapu-uk which means obstructed or obstaculizado in Spanish. It lies along the shores of Carigara Bay - its people drawing sustenance both from the waters which give an abundant harvest of fish that find their way in the markets of Tacloban and Carigara, as well as in the fertile lands that end at the foot of Mount Minoro.

Expansion efforts have been limited by the presence of Mount Minoro. The mountain obstructs and contains the town in its present site - forbidding further growth but protecting the town from the strong typhoons that have battered neighboring towns.
