SCUBA DIVING BELIZE | Ambergris Caye and Placencia | travel vlog 2019
SCUBA diving in Belize in a highlight of both the Caribbean and tourism in Central America. While the jungles attract a lot of tourists, Belize is also home to the second largest barrier reef in the world. It has so many incredible experiences for those who love to dive or snorkel. For this SCUBA diving adventure travel vlog I teamed up with PADI, a world famous diver training organization, and William Drumm, a talented underwater photographer.
We started the trip by taking a small plane from Belize City to San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. Here, we met up with Ramon's Village Resort and dove Hol Chan Marine Park, as well as many of the beautiful coral channels that snake through the reef. Highlights here for us were Nurse Sharks, Loggerhead Sea Turtles, and even an Octopus
Unfortunately our dive to The Great Blue Hole was cancelled due to weather, but ended up seeing a Bottlenose dolphin underwater close to the reef. Not a bad replacement.
Next was taking another plane from San Pedro to Placencia to meet Patricia at SPLASH dive centre to dive at Silk Caye. We island hopped, saw the underwater goddess statue, and trekked through Cockscomb Basin.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.
We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.
Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

BELIZE | BACKPACKING TRIP 2019 ????????
Belize was the second country we visited during our four months of traveling/backpacking through Central America! In total we've been here only for a week, because it's an expensive country for our backpacking budget.. We've been to Caye Caulker, Placencia and Monkey River. Caye Caulker was amazing, we spent a lot of time in the sun, swimming, snorkeling, partying and chilling at this carribean island!

TOBACCO CAYE, Belize - Dive, eat, sleep, repeat
Tobacco Caye is a small island right at Belize's Barrier Reef. We stayed at Reef's End Lodge (reefsendlodge.com). They have a great dive master, amazing food and world-class cocktails. We were there for 6 days, enough time to get the PADI Advanced Open Water certification and do plenty of snorkeling and relaxing. We also went on a day trip to Glover's Reef, a marine reserve with pristine corals.
Tobacco Caye is just a 20 minute boat ride from Dangriga, which you can reach with a short plane ride (Tropic Air) or by car or bus from Belize City.

Scuba Diving Ambergris Caye, Belize 2022
In August 2022 we dove for 3 days in San Pedro, Belize. All of the dives were done with Ambergris Divers. Some of the footage was taken during our snorkel trip to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. The barrier reef that we dove was just a 5 minute boat ride from the docks. With so many dive sites available there were never any crowds, and the reef was amazing.

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize 2019 - San Pedro Town is in the southern area of Ambergris Caye, in northern Belize. Its sandy streets are lined with wooden houses, seafood restaurants and beach bars. Everyone drives golf carts to keep consistent with the chill island vibe. Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a channel in an offshore reef. It features dive sites with a multitude of marine life including moray eels, nurse sharks and stingrays at Shark Ray Alley. Caye Caulker & Placencia, Belize: World's 2nd largest coral reef & Belize Caribbean coast 4K
Check out our video of 10 days spent in Caye Caulker Belize and Placencia in the South of the country. During our stay in Caye Caulker at Barefoot Caye Caulker Hotel, we explored the island, ate some of the best lobster and seafood of our lives and did a snorkeling tour to the Hol Chan national reserve, part of 2nd biggest coral reef in the world in Belize. During the Caye Caulker snorkeling tour with Salt Life Eco Tours, we saw nurse sharks, manatees, turtles, eagle rays, sting rays & much more.
From Caye Caulker, Belize, we then headed south to Placencia, a small and relaxed vibe town where we spent a few days before catching the once a week direct boat to Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Like Caye Caulker, there's plenty of snorkel tours, fishing tours and island trips you can do from Placencia, although we spent most of the time relaxing on the beach and around the town having already done the tours we wanted to in Caye Caulker.

This was my first attempt at using the GoPro and editing (well, since about 10 years ago!). I've discovered I need to get a better UW rig for more steady video. I'll fix that next time! I used a Intova Flex arm with camera stay and 220 lumen Torch. I won't use a light next time either as in many shots you can see the light outline.
Diving with Ramon's Village in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye in April 2012. Using GoPro HD Hero 2 with Snake River Prototyping BlurFix. UW video after 4:00 is using CY filter and you can notice the colors get significantly better UW.
Filmed at 720p 30 fps and used Magix Movie Edit Pro to export 1280x720 30 fps to .AVI an then used Leawo Video Converter to convert .AVI file to .mp4 using HD for iPad preset and highest video quality.
Will try and keep video under 5-6 minutes next time. :-)
