We Went To Saudi Arabia.
In today's episode, we take you along on one of our craziest trips so far. Never in a million years did we think we'd go to Saudi Arabia this soon. Then, all of a sudden, we decided to just do it.
We were hesitant to go given all we’ve read about the country.
During our journey to 100 countries and beyond, we will undoubtedly visit countries where we don’t agree with certain laws or practices, and personally, we don’t want this to stop us from going.
After all, how can we build understanding if we refuse to meet people, or are not open-minded enough to talk to someone who might disagree with us? We need more understanding, respect, and international cooperation, not greater divides.
Our intention has always been to use our platform as a personal diary to look back on, and we want to take every opportunity we can to grow and learn more about the world.

Exploring AlUla - SAUDI ARABIA's Hidden Gem (Hegra, Elephant Rock, Maraya) #alula #saudiarabia

In this video, we explore AlUla, an ancient city located in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia. AlUla is home to stunning landscapes, rich history, and unique cultural experiences. Our first stop was Maraya, an architectural marvel, consisting of nearly 10,000 mirrors. This mirrored building is the largest of its kind in the world and reflects the stunning desert landscape, creating a breathtaking optical illusion. Next, we will take you to Elephant Rock, a natural wonder that resembles an elephant. This unique rock formation is a popular spot for visitors to take photos and enjoy the stunning views in one of the many sunken lounges. For those looking for an adventure, 4WD driving in AlUla's desert is a must-try. It was certainly a thrill for us driving over sand dunes while taking in the views of the stunning rock formations. After a short visit at the Harrat Viewpoint, our next stop was the Oasis Heritage Trail, where you will experience the traditional oasis lifestyle of the locals. This historic trail dates back over 2,000 years and features stunning palm groves and historic buildings. We also visited the old Mudbrick Village, a fascinating cultural experience that showcases the traditional architecture and way of life of the local people. No visit to AlUla is complete without exploring Hegra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Saudi Arabia's most significant archaeological treasures. You will see ancient tombs carved into the rocky terrain and learn about the Nabataean civilization that once inhabited the area. Finally, we visited the Old Town, which features beautifully preserved buildings and a walking street full of rustic shops, cafes and restaurants, set against a backdrop of the dramatic scenery. We can definitely recommend a visit to AlUla. It is a unique and unforgettable destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Welcome to Jazan – one of the southernmost cities in Saudi Arabia, located only 60 km from the Yemen border. In this video of Living the Jo Life, we first explored Al Dosariyah Castle, which is an Ottoman castle located on a mountain overlooking the port of Jazan and the Red Sea. In the afternoon, we visited the Jazan Heritage Village, where we immersed ourselves in the traditions and customs of the culture of southeastern Saudi Arabia. After sunset, we discovered the vibrant Souk Dakhli, a bustling market where colors, scents, and flavors come alive, offering an authentic shopping experience. The market has a great atmosphere and a maze of stalls filled with unique handicrafts, spices, clothes, incense and souvenirs that reflect the true essence of Saudi Arabia. On the night of Saudi Founding Day, we certainly got to experience the festivities around the Sky Mall area in Jazan. We visited a lively café, and ended up at a private receipt at the Masnaf Restaurant, where we were invited for coffee, ice cream, had henna painting, and enjoyed a delicious meal, while making lots of new Saudi friends. Truly a night to remember. The hospitality here is Saudi Arabia is second to none. The locals wouldn’t let us pay a thing!

Khururrah Lake is a seasonal lake near to Riyadh that is formed during the winter rains. It is a great place to experience the red sand dunes of the desert and to witness Saudi Arabian life as many city folk go out to enjoy the natural surroundings in winter.

This is my third vlog in Saudi Arabia focus on the aviation sector. I had a quick tour of Riyadh Airport include ramp access to film the commercial and private aviation scenes. I visited the Saudia Al Fursan Lounge at Terminal 5 of Riyadh before boarding my Saudia B787-9 Dreamliner flight to Jeddah. It was a quick 1.5 hours domestic flight but interesting to see a dedicated prayer area and the service provided on-board.
Once arrived in Jeddah, I met up with Tour Guide Abir to explore the city, the Sea Mosque and Old Jeddah City.
Then I tried out Saudi Low Cost Carrier Flyadeal from Jeddah to Abha, it was an interesting experience to see the popularity of Low Cost Airlines rising inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Abha is an interesting city with green mountains and different landscape. I met fellow vlogger Eva zu Beck and Nara and we've discussed about how tourism is changing the country.
