Nearby, Pulemelei Mound is an ancient pyramid-like structure of basalt stones. In the southwest, the Alofaaga Blowholes shoot huge jets of water into the air. Northeast, trails lead to the crater of forested volcano Mount Matavanu.

Welcome to Savai'i, Samoa | Pacific Islands | Polynesia
This was our first day in Savai'i. We began the day in Apia city in Upolu and travelled to the big island Savai'i on the ferry. Our driver was waiting for us at the ferry terminal in Salelologa and drove us for nearly two hours to our accommodation in Asau Bay.
Along the way we saw beautifully coloured houses, open fales, churches, coconut trees, tidy gardens, beaches and bush.
We stayed at the beautiful Vaimoana Seaside Lodge where they have 3 kayaks, free for the guests to use. Despite only arriving that day, we couldn't help ourselves, so, we took to the water in a double kayak just before dinner to have a little explore of the area which would be our new home for 1 week.
At dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to find that a local band would play traditional chilled Samoan music for us while we ate by candle light. This place was a dream!

Some left over drone footage from a recent trip to Samoa. Footage is unable to be used for real videos, due to shadows in shot, leaves blowing, you can see me, etc etc. The best is yet to come..
All footage shot on Savai'i, the largest of the islands which make up Samoa, using a DJI Phantom 3 Professional quadcopter filming platform (aka drone), shooting 1080P HD footage at 50 frames per second.

These fales are quite basic but really all you need in this fantastic setting, right on a long sandy beach with crystal clear, warm water to swim and snorkel in and great hospitality.
Tanu beach is about 50 minutes drive from the main centre on Savaii. but once you're here you're not only in an idyllic spot but you have a range of restaurants and nightlife to choose from nearby.

Let's travel to the beautiful island country of Samoa (or, Western Samoa) and let's take the ferry from the main island of Upolu to the volcanic (and the largest of the Samoan islands) island of Savai'i in the Pacific Ocean.
We are going to enjoy the scenic ferry service between Mulifanua Wharf (island of Upolu) and Salelologa Wharf (island of Savaii) operates daily, and travelling time between these islands is an hour and 15 minutes.
Upolu is an island in Samoa, formed by a massive basaltic shield volcano which rises from the seafloor of the western Pacific Ocean. The island is 75 kilometres long and 1,125 square kilometres in area, making it the second largest of the Samoan Islands geographically.

Samoa - South Pacific (1080 HD)
Here is a tour of Samoa Islands: Upolu and Savaii. This small country located in South Pacific was a big surprise! It was not crowded of tourists particulary during the wet season where the weather is still very good. Samoa's nature has a lot to offer (from green to deep blue) and the people are super nice.
Finaly after swiming with wild dolphins, encountered a lot of seals in New Zealand, we finaly met a few sea turtles while snorkeling in Savaii island.

There’s a popular surf-break (for experienced boarders only) called Boulders here, just off Cape Niuato’i. The rough 3km track to Aganoa is 150m east of the stone bridge in Sa’agafou – don’t attempt it without a 4WD. The beach is a 10-minute walk to the east.

SAMOA: Stunning Saleaula Lava Fields in SAVAII, let's walk on the lava!
Savaii island, Samoa, Pacific Ocean - the lava fields on Savaii island in Samoa. Let's go visit the world famous lava fields of Sale'aula in the majestic Samoan island of Samoa. We will also visit a destroyed church from the volcanic explosions between 1905 and 1911.
Sale'aula is a village on the central north coast of Savai'i island in Samoa and is the traditional center of the Gaga'emauga political district. Volcanic eruptions of Mt Matavanu (1905 - 1911) in central Savai'i swept northwards towards the coast and destroyed villages in its path.
The lava flowed over 40 square miles (100 km2) of countryside to the sea and also destroyed another village Salago. The depth of the lava flow in some parts was 400 feet. A Catholic church and a meetinghouse of the LDS Church were also buried. Sale'aula land was covered by lava that reached other villages to the east including Mauga and Samalae'ulu.

Samoa - Beaches & Sunsets
On our third day in Samoa, we started off in Apia with the police marching band before hitting the Cross-Island road and it's sights along the way. These included the Bahai Temple and the Papapapatai falls. We then made our way to Samoa's iconic location, the To Sua Ocean Trench and the pristine virgin beach of Vavau. Of course, no road trip in Samoa is complete without the friendly locals along the way and a magnificent sunset to top to off.
