Visit Sao Paulo - The DON'Ts of Sao Paulo, Brazil

Visiting Sao Paulo, Brazil, whether for work or play can be extremely rewarding with amazing museums and shopping, but there are a few things you should not do when you go to Sao Paulo. This video covers the Don'ts of Visiting Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Filmed in Sao Paulo State, Brazil
Copyright Mark Wolters 2017
1. Don't expect to get anywhere quickly in Sao Paulo. With so many people, cars and craziness it will take you longer than what google says it will to get anywhere.
2. Don't skip the Mercado Municipal! This Sao Paulo tradition is amazing. From amazing fruit to the best bologna or sorry Mortadella sandwich you ever ate.
3. Don't skip out on eating non-Brazilian food while in Sao Paulo. There are tons of amazing places, foods, restaurants and styles for you to enjoy!
4. Don't lose your wits. Pay attention! Sao Paulo has a reputation for crime for a reason.
5. Don't expect a beach vacation. Sao Paulo is not a Brazilian beach city, it is a cultural, shopping, museum, business hub for South America.

Our Equipment

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

48 hours in Sao Paulo

Here I go again, more vlogs from South America, don't worry they are coming to their end. We spent 2 days in Sao Paulo but were honestly running out of things to do! It was much more city landscapes rather than natural, apart from the churasscaria which was AMAZINGGGGG!!! It was definitely the highlight of Sao Paulo. At the end of the video I show our annoying flight delay and the new friend we made :) S/O Karuna if you are watching/ reading this! Send a message if you are!

The next vlog I show Iguazu falls which are literally breathtaking! You will have to sUbScrIbe to watch it soon!

Hope everyone is making use of their quarantine, I'm trying become a YouTuber, but haven't got any more subscribers lol

São Paulo

Here is some footage from a June 2001 Sunday in São Paulo, with ordinary people, downtown, Liberdade (Japan town), soccer fever, evangelical Christians, street musicians/performers, sleaze district, prostitutes, the homeless, etc. The most hilarious part is that of a Japanese-Brazilian man in a public square, bursting spontaneously into dance—which later morphs into martial art moves—all to atrocious Christian pop!
(Music soundtrack by Adriana Calcanhotto, Cesaria Evora, Jerry Mulligan, Jane Duboc, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil.)

The Art of Slow Travel - Gareth Leonard (A Life of Travel, Ep.3)

Gareth is the Master of Slow Travel, working and traveling around the world for 7 years now. In this episode he shares his knowledge and gives tips for traveling in Brazil.

After finishing university and working at an office job Gareth felt like he wanted more in life and made the decision to get out there. With the money he saved he bought a one way plane ticket to Buenos Aires, learned the language and started living and working abroad exploring the country in a very slow way.

Since that time in Argentina Gareth mastered the art of slow travel in several countries, immersing himself in new cultures every year or so. To date his 1 year trip to Brazil had the most impact on home as he got to explore the country like no tourist could - he went from tourist to townie.

Make sure to also visit Gareth’s website where he shares tips on Slow Travel and all the places he visited, including many things to do in Brazil:

This video is part of „A Life of Travel“ - a documentary series introducing you to several jobs & career paths which enable you to combine travel and work.
