Rovinj / Croatia is a tourist favorite on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. The small old town stands on a headland. The narrow streets there made Rovinj known as a romantic coastal town with well preserved heritage.
We start our sunset walking tour outside the old town. We then get to the hilltop church of St. Euphemia. As we walk downhill to the old town again we pass guest houses and restaurants along the coast. The port is also picturesque as people enjoy dinner with a view.
Our tour ends near the Dolphin dock with a view of the sunset.

CROATIA - The Istrian town of ROVINJ
Rovinj is located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula and is a popular tourist resort. The town is officially bilingual, Croatian and Italian, hence both town names (Rovigno and Rovinj) are official and equal. From 1283 to 1797 Rovinj was one of the most important towns in Istria governed by the Republic of Venice. During this period three town gates were constructed and Rovinj/Rovigno was fortified by two rows of defensive walls, remains of which can still be seen today. Nearby the Rovinj/Rovigno pier one can find one of the old town gates, the Balbi's Arch, dating from 1680, and a late-Renaissance clock tower. Following Croatia's independence in 1991, the town became one of the most important centers of Istria County.

We spent a weekend in Rovinj to visit the old town. the weather was amazing hot and the water was very warm to swim on this weekend in june 2020. I recommend to rent a bike and drive along the coast it is wonderful. traditional food there are the cevapcici and taste very good.
Wir verbrachten ein Wochenende in Rovinj um die Altstadt zu besuchen. Das Wetter dieses Wochenende in Juni 2020 war sehr heiß und das Wasser sehr angenehm um zu schwimmen. Ich empfehle sich ein Rad auszuborgen und die Küste entlang zu fahren. Traditionelles Gericht in Kroatien sind die Cevapcici die aus sehr gut schmecken.

Rovinj is a city on the western coast of Istria and it is together with Porec one of the leading tourist destinations on the Adriatic thanks to its healthy, mediterranean climate. According to research, Rovinj has the best microclimate thanks to which tourism started developing in the 19th century. Today, Rovinj has around 14 000 inhabitants and tourism and industry are the main source of income.
Situated on the west coast of Istria, Rovinj is one of the most popular and most developed tourist resorts in Croatia. The old town is built on the island, which was only connected with the mainland in the 18th century. Known as one of the most picturesque and romantic towns on Mediterranean, over the last few decades Rovinj attracts a large number of tourists, most of them faithfully returning year after year. Why do they come back? Maybe it is the breath of past times felt as you walk around old town's cobbled narrow streets. Or is it maybe its 22 islands and islets, the mild Mediterranean climate, carefully designed parks, the tidiness of its streets, the friendliness of the local population or numerous and varied town events. Or all of it!
Rovinj manages to combine, in a very interesting way, its rich tradition with the modern times. As it is also an active fishing port, you can experience the atmosphere of a small fishing village, especially during the popular fishermen’s festivities or at one of the traditional taverns called Spacio (in the past, very popular among fishermen). On the other hand, the town has been developing an exquisite gastronomy and offers a high standard of tourist services in general.
The city at the foot of the Church of St. Euphemia is the favorite gathering place of artists from around the world. Walking down its streets, you'll bump into many art galleries and studios, whilst once a year, in August, you have the possibility to attend the largest open-air exhibition of the Adriatic coast, which takes place in one of the main old-town streets - Grisia.
It is almost impossible to list all Rovinj's attractions, so we suggest visiting it and surrendering to its beauty… We are sure that it will win you over and that sooner or later, you’ll come to visit Rovinj again.
