Our Alta Via 2 hike blew our minds but made for some incredible memories. We settled down in Ortisei / St. Ulrich for a few weeks to rest a bit and explore some of the myriad of local trails. After a day or two off, we headed up a funicular to hike over to Brogles Hutte on a beautiful late summer day for another nature hike. The Dolomites weather here stayed warm and sunny for almost our entire trip and this day brought smiles to our faces as well. The mountain scenery on this hike really did amaze us. The family went ahead and I filmed this hiking scenery so you can walk at home and enjoy the mountains from wherever your workout happens to be. We saw jagged mountains, alpine cows, lovely trails, and ended at the charming and welcoming Brogles Hut. I hope you enjoy this nature walk. More to come though I might break into the series with a walk in Montepulciano, Tuscany where I tried something a bit different. Keep on steppin' -H

Description from Val-Gardena Website
The funicular will take you from Ortisei to the top in no time and during the ride, the view of the surrounding mountains will become more majestic with every metre climbed.
Arriving at the top station at 2100 metres, you’ll have an impressive view of the Val Gardena Dolomites. Many locals say that the Sassolungo is the most beautiful when viewed from Resciesa.
The panorama path to the Brogles hut runs slightly above the tree line towards the Odle peaks.
Once you are well-fed and within view of the Odle peaks, you’ll be ready to go. The path to the Brogles Hut is flat, but you have to cross the entire alpine pasture of Inner Resciesa, so expect a long hike.
The trail soon leads out of the forest and above the tree line across the wide meadows of the Resciesa alpine meadow. This is used by the farmers as a summer pasture for young cattle and horses. The animals are used to hikers and usually allow you to pet them.
When you arrive at Brogles pass, it is only a short descent to the Brogles hut.
Along the path to the Brogles Pass, up to and just before the Brogles Hut, you shouldn't expect any difficulties. The unique Odle Mountains remain in sight the entire time and offer a magnificent view. The Ladins call these slender towers Odles, which means needles. The sight of them is particularly magical from Resciesa. With every step further closer, you’ll quickly become aware of the true size of these Dolomite peaks.
After arriving at the Brogles Pass, only a short descent will separate you from the Brogles Hut. It’s located in the middle of a beautiful alpine meadow, offers a wonderful view of the Odle and has plenty of space for children to play and discover nature.

The descent from the pass to the Brogles hut is steep, but not very long. Thereafter you can treat yourself to a rest.
The Brogles Hut offers an extensive menu selection and is perfect for a longer lunch break. In the high season (end of July and August), it's always very busy, so it’s a good idea to order a little earlier to avoid having to wait too long for your meal.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a daily brisk walking routine can help you maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat, reduce stress and tension, improve your mood, and consequently live longer. And it doesn’t have to be hard. You can work your way up to longer and faster walks, alternate walking speeds. Just push yourself a little bit every day and you can see benefits. It’s a simple fat burning cardio exercise and workout.
Apparently, every 2000 steps walked reduces the risk of early death by 8-11%.

Island of Ortigia - BEAUTIFUL Coastal City - Virtual Run in Sicily, Italy
Today we're running all around the Island of Ortigia, in Sicily, Italy on a perfect day!
Ortigia is a town with truly ancient history and the most beautiful part of the city of Syracuse on the coast of the southern part of Sicily, Italy.
Incredibly blue water, sailboats, and gorgeous rocky cliffs just below the beautiful streets where we'll run make this one of the most special explorations yet!

Who is Virtual Trail Running? I'm Erin, a runner from the United States. I love to explore the world while running! When it's really cold during the winter months where I live in Massachusetts, it's hard to go outside, so the treadmill is my only option. I discovered that the only way I can really enjoy treadmill running is if I am watching videos that let me feel like I'm running in different places around the world. Then I decided to dedicate myself to creating these videos to share with everyone.

This virtual run filmed in the picturesque on the Monte Baldo Trail in a mountain range in the Italian Alps, located in the provinces of Trento and Verona. A Monte Baldo Hiking Trail has endless spots featuring panoramic views on the Lake Garda. It is nice, long, panoramic and very varied route which leads you to the top of Monte Baldo along the crest. The route follows the ridge of Monte Baldo; it starts from the top station of the cable car and leads to Telegrafo peak passing through Pozzette peak, Longino peak and Valdritta peak, the highest of Monte Baldo. I've added also few videos from Punta Larici viewpoint overlooking Lago di Garda and Monte Baldo crest from its' west side. This virtual running video was filmed on a hiking trip around the Garda Lake Italy. There are both - ambience sounds and music.

Rome never ceases to excite the senses and energize my sense of wonder. I love this kind of city that has something to offer from every nook and cranny. We can walk just about everywhere and find ancient structures that don't even make the tour books because they are already full of amazing places. This tour takes you along some of the most popular destinations in the heart of the old center between the river Tiber and the forum. We filmed five walks in Rome and still only scratched the surface. I hope you enjoy this as you walk at home on your treadmill workout or just enjoy a calm and relaxing tour through the Eternal City. Cyclops Islands - BEAUTIFUL Fishing Village - Virtual Run in Sicily, Italy
Today we're running along the coast of two Sicilian fishing villages on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. The sun is shining and the scent of the Mediterranean Sea is filling the air.
We begin in Aci Trezza, famous for the Cyclops Islands... mythology tells us that Polyphemus, a one-eyed monster (cyclops), was blinded by Ulysses and became so enraged that he threw enormous rocks from the summit of the Mount Etna volcano, trying to kill him, but they landed in the sea. You can clearly see Mount Etna in the distance in today's video.
After running through the Aci Trezza harbor and waterfront, we head south to Aci Castello, where we'll even climb the Norman Castle to get a better view, before heading back to Aci Trezza.
