Riders on the STORM! We're being chased up the Panamanian Coast | Sailing Zingaro Ep. 40

The wind is CRAZY in Ecuador! | EP58

We went on a test run with Zingaro when we had an accident. 30nm out from our home port here in Ecuador the new standing rig stretched faster than it should have. Due to the strong wind and big seas we had to abort our shake down cruise and turn back.
This could have easily led to some serious damage on the boat and we’re lucky that we could avoid a bigger accident.
Just for the record: our mast is still standing and synthetic rigging is the bomb. You just have to know how to use it...

Are we about to be Attacked by PIRATES? | S04E01

We’ve known for a long time that the most dangerous waters for piracy in the Caribbean are through the Nicaraguan banks. Every year we hear accounts of yachts being attacked and boarded by pirates in this area.

How can we know that piracy is a real threat in this region but still make the decision to sail through these dangerous waters? In this episode, in order to get to Panama before crossing the Pacific, we are forced to sail through the Nicaraguan banks and have some terrifying moments of our own.

Sailing Into A Storm: Our 1500 Mile South Pacific Crossing (Expedition Drenched S1 Ep.1)

Our journey of 1500 nautical miles begins from Opua in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand to the south pacific island of Niue. Conditions are less than favorable as we leave, but we need to ride on the tail of the low pressure storm so we can get the winds that we need to make it far enough east.

Expedition drenched is a U.S. based marine educational non profit 501-c made possible by our donors and patrons. For more information on our project visit:

What lies beneath our floating home - Sailing Tarka Ep. 36

Proceeds from this video will go to the Coral Reef Alliance, but you can also support us directly (and specifically the production of these videos) by becoming a Patron:

Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific.

I am sailing Tarka around the world in part to raise money and awareness for coral conservation by supporting the Coral Reef Alliance. You can learn more here:

or visit their website directly:

If you make a donation to their website directly in Tarka's honor, please send me an e-mail copy of your receipt so I can keep track of Tarka's fundraising. You can forward to:

theadventuresoftarka@gmail.com

Additional support for Tarka’s sail for CORAL (The Coral Reef Alliance) comes from contributions by:

Soylent - Healthy provisioning for the long offshore passages
Sta Lok - Swage-less terminals for portions of Tarka’s rigging, making it an easy DIY job and allowing for easy inspection
Victron Energy - Providing monitoring solutions for Tarka's batteries, to ensure we always have enough juice to do what we need to.

Wow, what a beautiful place. This is the last Panama video, in the next episode we’re finally leaving for Costa Rica!!! Much love!

¡Adios Mexico! | Sailing Zingaro Ep-10

An Island floating on nothing but used plastic bottles? How sick is that! All the little details in his house... RichArt is really a master of recycling. We had a lot of fun with him and the guys from Project Atticus. But after the island and the sail was fixed, it was time for us to leave Mexico. So the Captain took me (Kim) out for my first real sail. WOHOOO! It was a nice one, but as we found out later, we messed the boat up quite a bit on our way to Grand Cayman. But that's another story... So yeah, bottle Islands, trashed dingie, jam sessions and dolphins. What else do you need for a worthy 10th episode? You tell us.
And we discovered Photoshop, alright. You might notice that in the video (taco drawings everywhere).

Prost & Ahoy muchachos.
Captain and Kimmi

Her FIRST TIME in the USA! | Sailing Zingaro Ep34

There's always trouble when you leave two Berlin girls on the boat by themselves. See why in this episode. We leave the boat in a Panamanian river and go home for a few weeks to get parts and attend a wedding. We build a stack-pack while we're there, and go for a little sailing trip to Catalina Island.
Kimmi likes sailing on OPB’s (other-people’s boats)!!

Panama Canal - The CHEAP Way! (pt. I) | LVB

We cover anchoring in the flats, form 4405-I, scheduling to get measured, and the river Changres! It's a cool how-to with a bit of how-it-was. This is the ABSOLUTE cheapest way to do it, and we cover costs in part 2. Look for part 2 where we go to Isla Naranjo and through the canal!

The SPOOKY SECRET PIRATE COVE | Sailing Thailand (Sailing Nandji) Ep 136

Its a Pirates life and where do you hide your treasure? In the spooky secret cove of course!

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after 3 long months in Langkawi, the day arrives where we can set some sails and depart onwards to our next adventure. Leaving Langkawi feels like such an accomplishment after working so hard on upgrading our vessel.

With hundred's of islands between Langkawi and Thailand, it would be rude of us not to explore some of these magical lands. The geography of the area is simply stunning and then reading about a secret pirate cove hidden away on one of these islands, we knew we had to investigate.

Needing to swim through pitch darkness for 80 metres through a bat ridden cave, at times the rock came so close to the waters surface you could barely sneak through without holding your breath. Then once you think your completely lost, you duck under the last rock ledge and emerge into the most beautiful pristine secret pirate cove.

The waters of Thailand were run with pirates years ago and this is where they hid their plunder. Behind the emerald light, to the place the eye can not see. TO find the light, you must first find the darkness... Arrrr

Thank you to everyone who has watched our videos and contributed to our new engine. It is all because of you legends we have been able to install this brand new engine and re-power Nandji. With all this boat work being complete our vessel is becoming indestructible as we get her ready for our next big trip across the Indian Ocean.

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia and finally arrived to the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the next big adventure. The work is now complete and off we go to Thailand on our way to Indonesia.

We departed Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Indian Ocean here we come!!
