QANTAS 787-9 premium economy is NICE!! (SFO-MEL)

How I usually end up with empty seats next to me on flights:

----------------------------------------------

Whoa. I'm not sure what has been happening with premium economy products lately, but I really like the direction that the airlines are taking it.

This is footage from QANTAS flight 50 from San Francisco (SFO) to Melbourne (MEL). Total flying time was a tick under 15 hours, and I was seated in 20A - a premium economy seat in the bulkhead row. The aircraft was a 787-9, registered as VH-ZNA.

Qantas Business Class Review - Selecting the Best Seats

Review: how to choose or select the best seats in Business Class on the Qantas Boeing B787-9, with Tom Otley, Editor of Business Traveller magazine.

Video transcript:
- - If you're wondering which seat is best to choose in a cabin, I had a quick walk around before the flight and here's what I thought. This is the front cabin starting with row one. So you've got 1A which is on its own here. And then you've got a row two, which has four seats in it. So 1A and K I'd avoid 'cause I think they're too close. Having a photo taken with the Captain. I'm gonna manage to resist that. And then you've got the rows going back, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. These window seats, personally I would go for the ones closest to the window. So I've said avoid row one. There's row two. You see three. Three is close to the window and the advantage there is A: You're close to the window, but B: You've got this side panel protecting you from the aisle, which gives you more privacy and more quiet when you're trying to sleep. So although you get the same amount of space in this one, which is 2A, I would go for 3A or 5A or 7A and then on the other side it's obviously in reverse. But I mean they're all lovely seats, but it's just minor differences. So at the back there, what do we go back to? Row eight. I wouldn't go for 8K there, but I would go for 7K. And then of course, if you're traveling as a couple or with a colleague that you wanna talk to, that middle divider comes down and you can chat together.

Qantas Dreamliner - Business Class

Qantas Dreamliner - Business Class

QF 11 Sydney to Los Angeles

Boeing Dreamliner 787-9

Qantas Dreamliner is the most advanced long-haul aircraft in the Qantas fleet and the new workhorse for its international network.

Qantas Dreamliner is fitted with 46 business class seats, 28 premium economy and 166 economy seats.

What makes this aircraft so special?

• Much larger windows, so you get more natural light and see more

• Turbulence and vibration reducing technology

• Less noise

• Every seat has been designed for ultimate comfort for long haul flying

• Improved lighting and dining with a focus on health and wellbeing for long flights

• The Dreamliner is also 20% more fuel efficiency so great for the environment

• The cabin pressure is better, reducing jetlag

Business Class on Qantas Dreamliner

Qantas Dreamliner has 2 business class sections; the forward cabin has 34 seats, and the second cabin has 12 seats. The configuration is 1 // 2 // 1, meaning all seats have direct aisle access and importantly are forward facing, which is, in my opinion, the better way to sit.

The business class seats are 23 inches wide and have a pitch of 46 inches, turning into a full flat bed for maximum comfort when sleeping. Qantas provides luxury bedding, so sleeping is easy and enjoyable on any long -haul flight using the Dreamliner. Qantas is currently implementing the same seat design on its larger Airbus 380 fleet, which is excellent news.

What are the best seats in business class?

If you are travelling with someone else, I would suggest the middle two seats, so you can enjoy meals and each other’s company on the flight. There is a convenient privacy screen you can use if your partner talks to much.

If you are traveling by yourself, I would recommend the window seats – either 1, 3, 5, 7, 11 A or 2, 4, 6, 10, 12 K as they are closer to the window and offer a more privacy in my option.

Baggage storage on is limited in business class on the Dreamliner as Qantas has removed the middle overhead lockers, so make sure you board early and secure your space.

Best Seats in Premium Economy on the Qantas Dreamliner B787 9 - Business Traveller

Selecting the best seats in Premium Economy on the Qantas B787 9 Dreamliner, with Tom Otley, Editor of Business Traveller magazine.

Video transcript:
- - [Tom] This is premium economy in a 2-3-2 configuration on the 787-9. There's only four rows. There are overhead lockers above all of these. And each row of the window seats has two windows apart from row 22. So it goes from row 20, 21, 22, and 23. Seats 20 K and J, I think they'd be a good choice. - [Karen] We're seeing a 232 layout. This was designed by David Caon, our industrial designer. Our seat supplier was the same seat supplier as business class. It's Thompson Aero Seating, they're based in Belfast. This was a prototype they had in the cupboard that we actually saw potential to bring forward and actually redesign our premium economy. Not just the seat, but the experience. It's designed for space and comfort. A bit more privacy with the wings on the side here. The headrest is one of the ergonomic designs, and the pillow is actually designed specifically to fit over the headrest, so as you're traveling it fits in specifically to that so it's nice and comfy. Another ergonomic design is the leg rest. So both these two features we had an ergonomist on the project that we worked really closely with David Caon the seat designer and the ergonomist to make sure that the foot rest and the pillow once in full recline gives as much support to the body without it being a lay-flat bed. The screen is actually 25% larger than our previous premium economy inflight entertainment screen, and it also has an inbuilt ledge that people can put their own devices in. So we have the little pocket in here for personal stowage, another, there's two USB ports for charging and a shared AC power as well. The other highlight for this seat is the integrated and ambient light. It's not meant to be a reading light, reading lights are still overhead. It's just more that when you're traveling in the middle of the night you need to find your own belongings, and it's light enough to actually fill out your departure card. - [Man] Do you switch it on and off, or it stays on? - [Karen] You can switch it on and off through the inflight entertainment screen, and it's been designed so that you're not disturbing the person next to you

Qantas Business Class | Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (LAX-MEL) | Business Suites

Join me as I fly from Los Angeles to Melbourne on Qantas on board one of their 787 Dreamliners, in Business Class.

Today we'll be taking QF96, an overnight flight from LA to Melbourne. The USA West Coast to Australian East Coast provides highly competitive routes, with multiple daily flights operated by a number of airlines. For many, Qantas is a 'go to' for this type of flight, but let's have a look how their on board experience fares.

So let's go gate to gate together, passing through check in, the lounge, terminal and of course the on board experience on this trip across the Pacific. Let me know your thoughts in the comments and subscribe if you enjoyed the content!

Qantas Business Class 787 Review: Fantastic Seat Singapore To Melbourne

A look onboard QANTAS 787 Business Class on its 787 Singapore to Melbourne route.

Unfortunately, this wasn't as good as my experience flying from Singapore to Sydney in Qantas business class. The flight was delayed by 5.5 hours, the food was poor and they forgot to serve me!

The upside is that Qantas' Singapore Lounge is great, the seats are fantastic and I did manage some good sleep.

Don't miss a look inside the Qantas 787 Business Class.

AVOID Qantas Business Class - 2023 Review

My honest flight review of Qantas business class in 2023 on the 787 dreamliner.

I've flown them since filming this video IN december 2022 and still, the experience is roughly the same that it doesn't justify a follow up video.

We flew Qantas' 787-900 Dreamliner to Los Angeles from Melbourne on this flight, but my overall opinion is shaped by several flights from Melbourne to LAX, LAX to SYD that I've taken this year. The latest of which being in late July.

Avoid QF93 and Qantas more generally until they pickup their game and stop relying on their reputation to get customers. Qantas will fall apart if they don't step up their game.

I've flown Qantas Business Class four times this year, as recently as late July. It's time to get the Flying Kangaroo a timeout.

I'm so keen to start making videos again, please like and subscribe if you enjoyed, and let me know your feedback! I'd love to hear from you!

Stay till the end to get my full opinion and see the landing!
