OMG GUYS! The last 3 days of my life have been spent in the world's least visited country called Nauru in the Pacific Islands. Have you ever heard of Nauru before? Less than 200 tourists a YEAR visit this tiny-island nation called Nauru of 10,000 residents, and it's a fascinating place.
If you know me, then you'll know that nothing excites me more than visiting obscure places… Nauru is my 155th country, and maybe the most interesting one yet, and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!! PSA: NAURU IS AMAZING!

En el Océano Pacífico existe una isla que es el tercer país más pequeño del mundo y es además la isla país más pequeña del mundo, con una superficie de tan solo 21, 3 kilómetros cuadrados.
Nauru era rica en fosfatos, los cuales se explotaron al límite, llevando a que la isla se convirtiese en el país per capita más rico de todo el mundo! Cuando el fosfato se acabó, además dejar a Nauru contaminada, causó un efecto bola de nieva que arrastró todavía más problema.
La isla se convirtió en el país con mayor porcentaje de obesos, dada su incapacidad de cultivar en un suelo infértil. Por otro lado, albergan un centro de detención para refugiados que han intentado entrar por barco ilegalmente a Australia, como única manera de recibir financiación externa.
Menos de 200 turistas la visitan anualmente, y por todo esto, los problemas de Nauru parecen no tener fin, siendo hoy por hoy uno de los países más pobres del mundo.

Науру - это самое маленькое островное государство в мире, меньше только европейские Ватикан и Монако. История Науру отличается от других стран тихоокеанского региона. Остров находится на самом экваторе на пути перелётных птиц и за миллионы лет из птичьего помета здесь сформировались залежи фосфоритов. В 70-х годах прошлого века островитяне начали активный экспорт фосфатов и страна сказочно богатела. Доходы населения росли, появилась своя авиакомпания, а в Мельбурне даже особняк Nauru House. Потом (НЕОЖИДАННО) фосфаты закончились, деньги у жителей тоже и страна превратилась в типичный остров в Океании. Мы покажем основные достопримечательности Науру, увидим и добычу фосфатов. Их по-прежнему добывают, но лишь в небольших объёмах.
Печальную славу Науру принёс тот факт, что сюда Австралия ссылает беженцев - лодочников. Жители бедных азиатских стран в поисках австралийской мечты на лодках отправляются в путь от берегов Индонезии до австралийского острова Рождества. Тех, кто выживает в этой схватке с природой, отправляют не в благополучную Австралию, а в распределительный центр в Науру, где они проводят несколько лет в ожидании в путёвки в жизнь. Туристам запрещается посещать лагеря беженцев и общаться с ними, но нам это удалось)

Nauru: Top world war 2 sights (Travel to Nauru / war in the Pacific)
Japanese troops occupied Nauru in August 1942 during World War Two. The Japanese built the airfield which is still usel as the only airport in Nauru. They fortified the island with cannons and bunkers. The allies bombed the airfield for the first time on 25 March 1943 but then bypassed Nauru on its way to defeat Japan in the Pacific. Therefore Nauru was liberated as late as September 1945, when commander Hisayaki Soeda surrendered the island.
A Microcosm of the World to Come? A lesson from the worlds smallest nation Nauru
Nauru is a tiny coral outcrop in MIcronesia in the Pacific Ocean. Although i had the loveliest of times i could've had on the island i've stuggled to be very optimistic or positive for once (there's a hint of it in there somewhere). What's shown here is a microcosm of our current activities on our planet therefore, the footage i've included tries to emphasize the extent of the destruction present on this island.
Here is another perfect example of the disasterous legacy left by colonial powers and it was lucky to get it's independence before the British and Australians kicked everyone out and plundered it like their neighbours Banaba. The neglect and wastage that's continued after, providing its citizens with nothing but a wasted environment must rest on the predecessors too.
Alongside their island, their democracy and freedom is being shut off too, social occasions or gathering of over 6 people have to be approved by the police.
The place is a complete and utter shambles and i haven't even got into the atrocities of the refugee camps yet (yet again Australias fault).
I wish the people of Nauru the best of luck, some say mining metals in their wastes is their next step. Great.
